Being a Certified Instructor by two Original students, Guro Dan Inosanto and Sifu Larry Hartsell, it is easy to see what they have and what they need. They are doing alright, so good job...except for the really skinny guy at the end. He looked terrible and was more an embarrassment to the video. The other guys can demo the stuff, but all the pauses after the back fists...too much demo and not enough shadowboxing and sparring. Same pauses on the mits in their transitions.

There are no masters in jeet kune do, you can only better your best. Even Bruce improved constantly, that's why JKD at the beginning 1965 is not the same as in 1973. That's why the ones that trained it 1973 are more infuenced by Boxing and Fencing and the ones from 1965 are more into Trapping and Wing Chun. People still haven't understand that JKD is about reducing your Weapons to a minimum and not adding all kinds of stuff to it like Trapping, Ground fighting,..etc. Even those rapid attacks are not needed if your attacks are performed in the right way, so always keep in mind:"If your not developing Bruce Lee like skills, it's not the real thing".

Jkd has other martial arts in it the kick powerful kicks come from muay thai, the flick kicks which are from french savate are faster than muay thai kicks but not as powerful and are used to target the groin or the knee, the punches come from boxing and elbow and knees which are also in it come from muay thai aswell and it has grappling elements aswell and its all used to intercept your opponent with explosive techniques with amazing power and speed, so how would that do against other martial arts, with no rules they will destroy

Not one of them even comes close to Tommy Carruthers. Not to mention, most of them still stick to trapping range that only looks good against non-resisting opponents (students). Not bashing trapping or Wing Chun, because i've trained it, and it only works to a small degree. JKD is fencing and boxing, hit and move martial art. There is no need to waste energy by chain punching, you will gass out and pay for it against a trained fighter, belive it. Dont practice something just because it looks good.

The lyrics on this song seem to be singing.....'Faster, faster,faster'........What we must understand about JKD is that 'SPEED' is only ONE small component in effective JKD training.......Speed means NOTHING unless one can make it pay by generating POWER with body mechanics, learning to read & exploit opening, without learning to sense the weight shift in an opponent & a MULTITUDE of other components which make it work......Whenever we see people claiming to be 'JKD' the only legitimate test is to look at the BODY MOTION & evaluate How SIMPLE and DIRECT is it ?........Are the moves NECESSARY to finish off life threatening danger fast or are they EXTRANIOUS and FOR SHOW....& do they get to DECISIVE TARGETS to WIN against life threatening danger clean kill economically like a SAMURAI ?.........Weapon ----Target-----BANG !!!.......Over.

None of this crap works against Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the Gracies have proven it over and over again heck this doesn't even work against any jiu-jitsu and the naysayers will surface to defend this art.. yeah it might look impressive but put them in the ring whith Eddie Bravo or any other guy similar to him and they will always get their asses kicked.. Bruce Lee using his "style" to survive in street fights makes it already an effective self defense system. He has done nothing but improve his Jeet Kune do for the sole purpose of surviving in a fight and staying alive in the streets, it's nothing but street fighting. The man himself admitted to Muhammad Ali that if things were to be taken to the streets, that's his home field and he'd win easily compared to if he were in the ring. I can promise you that the Gracies would not be calling Bruce and his style some pussy ass crap, even if the Gracies did make a very influential and effective grappling system (to which I use myself and has saved my ass). Judge the practitioner, not the style.
