I agree, positioning your feet lower down the foot plate will target the quads more, but it’s not healthy on the knee tendons. I had to move my feet further up the plate over the years and my tendonitis went away.

Just watch out placing your feet too far down if you have long legs. That can create a lot of stress on the knee when it goes way past the front of your foot. That will also depend on how deep you take the leg press also.

Hey Lee Ive been trying to get some more work done on my outer calves. Usual foot position really seems to hit and kill the inner but the outer seems to be lagging way behind. I heard if you point your toes inward while doing calve raises (standing or seated) that it helps hit them but so far Ive felt nothing. Any advise?

LEE; I am 67 yo semi retired podictric surgeon with a very busy active practice still doing foot and ankle surgery about once a week. Your advice on this particular topic is right on what I have learned going to the gym since I was in my 20's learning from others around me an my readings. I had to stop training for my 4th marathon (slow, but was getting much faster) a month ago d/t stress fx of calcaneus. I have three questions. How old are you? Yes it is. You have to see protein shake just as another protein source such as meat, eggs, etc. Since protein powder is a fast digesting source of protein, having one before your workout ensure to have plenty of amino acids in your bloodstream throughout your workout and will prevent you to go in a catabolic state.

Thanks lee big help! Unfortunately you missed one aspect of my question. What foot position works inner thigh and outer thigh? I read arnolds book and he talks about it. but thats awesome about if you have lower on leg press does more quads that make me almost think I could do hamstrings on back day haha!
