I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I find it silly that there was no explanation for Meta using Fiber Optic cable. Which is exactly why the cable is so much more expensive. Fiber optic is truly scary how much power, data, speed it can hold. I feel like this is a review for the shopper whos just looking for a quick fix to save 30 bucks. Weight? Length? Bendy vibes? The cable is fiber optic because in 6 months the level of vr games will multiply by 50. Think long run, do your research. Saving a buck or two wont prevent you from being upset your new vr game is glitchy 8 months from now. Lastly with comparison why do you not give in depth side by side footage of each cable and their gameplay? Cheers.

@1:57 Theoretical limit on 3.1 is 10gbps on two lanes. However, the Quests XR2's USB host controller can only handle 2.5gbps. Its hardcapped at that, no matter what cable you use you will never get more than that. It also makes Meta's optical capable completely pointless, as sixteen feet of cable wouldn't induce enough line noise to degrade those transfer rates. As for your PC end of things, the most important spec is your VRAM. Rendering anything at 4k VR will easily push upwards of 20gb's of video memory, unless its exceptionally well optimized for PCVR (which most games are not)

This was so straightforward and easy to understand - thank you! I've watched several videos on this topic, and this is the first one where I've felt like I've got a decent understanding of the material, and a concrete plan of how to move forward. That is such a relief (and now I can move on to researching headsets and battery packs! 😆)

One factor not considered here is longevity. The official cable being optical fiber means it'll be less likely to degrade from repeated bending of the cable, so it in theory should last considerably longer. Higher price but replace less often. That is the theory, whether in practice it works out that way I don't know, because no one has really done the test to see how various cables maintain quality over a year or two.

It is not a fiber optic cable if that is what you are trying to say.

If you use the links in the video description they will take you through to official purchase channels. Hope that helps.

Syntech cable made my headset constantly connect/disconnect. It would pop up in Device Manager as a driver error, however, using the USB-C charging cable that came with it reads it no problem. Ordering a Kiwi, lets hope that works better

did it work better?

I bought the syntech cable but it started acting up and every time i plug it in it disconnects me from link and reconnects and it repeats

Have you tried wrapping a Velcro strap around the cable and the headstrap arm to see if that helps? I covered this as a handy tip in one of my videos.

I have a Usb C port on the front of my pc next to the power button will that be enough to charge the quest 3 and link? or should i use the 3.2 usb port on my motherboard
@MyTechGearGaming5 ай бұрын
It's recommended to use the ports directly on your motherboard, but you could always just try the one on the front of your case and if that works for you then you're good.

So do I need those specs for a PC just to back up my Oculus on side quest and use a cable
@MyTechGearGaming2 жыл бұрын
If you just transferring data from pc to quest then pretty much any cable and pc spec will do. Playing vr will need a higher spec pc and cable though.

I got the kiwi link cable a few days ago and have been experiencing a lot of disconnects. Do you have any idea on how to fix it? The reviews for it also seem to have the same problem.
@MyTechGearGaming2 жыл бұрын
I've have no issues with it myself. It could be a loose connection on your PC so I'd recommend trying a different usb port on your PC. Also check the connection to your headset isn't loose too. It could also be a faulty cable which might need replacing. Check that the cable isn't being pulled out of either PC or headset whilst you're playing too.

@@MyTechGearGaming Ill give those recommendations a try if they dont work ill try to get a replacement. Thank you for the advice i appreciate it.

@@MyTechGearGaming Im sure its not that buddy. This is a wide scale ISSUE with kiwi designs cable. I also experienced it myself. Shit product
@MyTechGearGaming2 жыл бұрын
@Arbiter it shouldn't make a difference. Unless you've got a low spec graphics card in the laptop, then it could.

Problem is that I am using syntech 5m cable, and when I'm using it, I keep lagging for some reason, and it's not pc, or anything, it's the oculus, and I don't know how to stop lagging
@zeroa692 жыл бұрын
Have you toyed with the oculus debug tool and set up your power management so that your usb ports get max power? Windows defult is to limit them for power saving.

Is the "upgraded" cable from Kiwi worth it over the standard one?
