Painkiller by Death is definitely one of my favorites, I absolutely love Chuk's "clean" voice and was very surprised when I heard it for the first time but the whole "The Sound of Perseverance" album is an absolute masterpiece. I also like Opeth`s cover of "Would" so much and I am very picky with AIC covers (especially the Layne era ones) since they are my favorite band, I am so happy you mentioned it and that someone finally agrees that AIC is metal! When I was younger, I was a huge sucker for the Carnifex cover of Angel of Death and the Within the Ruins cover of Fight Fire with Fire. Very faithful covers with more modern production and lower tuning akin to the BtBaM cover you mentioned.

Badass guitar player Paul Gilbert did an album called "The Dio Album". Paul even played the vocal parts on guitar with a mid bump to help it stick out in the mix

I highly recommend you check out Daath's cover of The Philosopher by Death. Their cover just adds so much to the song I've never listened to the original since. Death fans, don't even try. In fact, go check it out yourself. Daath is a fantastic band that's absolutely worth your time checking out, and they take everything good about the original and improve on it. Also Orbit Culture's cover of Hard Wired by Metallica. Niklas does such a great job rearranging the song to a melodeath style combined with one of his best vocal performances to make a top-tier cover.

Tyr has some amazing covers Where Eagles Dare is probably my favorite cover from them. Ghost's version of Here comes the Sun is awesome just purely based on the fact the made it depressing. Blind Guardian's take on Surfin USA, Barbara Ann, and Mr.Sandman are also all just a good time. Motorheads cover of Whiplash is also pretty sick. covers are cool :)
