though I had some problem with sea water It also kzbin.infoUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

Great video mate. I wish all you-tube tutorials were like this. No BS, No bias pumping a particular bran up. Just plain, simple and informative. I'm still scratching my head which detector to get, but this video has narrowed the field down considerably. Cheers brother

Love your vids mate. My brother just got me into detecting recently by giving me his old bountyhunter 2200. He upgraded to the equinox 800. My first find at an old church nabbed me an 1845 Queen Victoria 1 cent. So am pretty hooked now.

You forgot to mention battery life. Some of those detectors can burn up a lot of batteries or the need to recharge after 5 hours+. Also, XP Deus lasts several days on one charge. Additionally being so light you can swing it all day. The CTX 3030 will wear you out after a few hours. Just a thought. Great video. David Fort Lauderdale, FL USA

I bought my first MD, a Gold Mountain detector, which was a sister company to Garrett at the time. That was 1976 and I paid $125 dollars for it. My next MD was a Garrett Master Hunter. I lived in Dallas where Garretts were made. My last MD was a Whites Coinmaster, complete with case, headphones and extra coil. Now that I'm at a point in my life where I can afford any detector that I could ever want, my health has left me with mobility issues that pretty much negates detecting my old favorite areas. Now I just watch videos and remember.

Great video. I bought the CTX 3030 and the GPZ-7000 at the same time. A couple of years later, I traded my 3030 and Gold Bug 2 in on a Gold Monster 1000, cash in my pocket and 1 day hunting at the seller's mine (I found almost 1 oz of gold).

Great intro video for me to watch before delving into the process of buying a dector! Just a general prospecting question in regards to the sensitivity of metal detectors, and how they may be affected by items being worn/carried around by the user: eg metal cap boots, belt buckles, watches (inc GPS type watches), digging equipment (eg. shovel/pick-axe tools for detecting in hard ground)...how do you carry a pick-axe through the bush, and detect at the same time!!??...

Gooday mate !, I enjoyed every minute of your vid, The change in technology from about 1987 is awesome, , To be honest, I have never used a metal detector, which may seem strange, considering I was a very early employee of Minelab when its operations were in Stepney SA, I loved working there, it was the most switched on company I had worked for, All the engineers and main man, (B.C) were a solid unit ,which has given all the detectorists the best equipment in the world, , Nice work on the info mate !

Very clear and concise presentation! But I am curious why you did not include the Garrett ATX with the pulse inductions detectors. Sure, it's a bit older than the others you covered. But I continue to use mine with great success. Have found many objects and gold while following after others with VLF and pulse detectors including XP Deus and SDC 2300. The ATX folds compact, has long battery life, is extremely durable, water proof to 3 meters, and has three coils available.. Only con I know of is the weight which has never been a factor for me while using a harness. (I am 65 years old) Another factor I feel people should consider is the sound that the detector produces. I do not prefer the "crying squieal" that Minelabs make. The Hi-Lo tones (or Lo-Hi) tones of the Garretts is much more pleasant and infomative which reduces false or undesireable targets. This can be a huge factor after using the detector for any length of time.

Good overview. I use my gpz7000 on the beach and kill it, salt and medium target settings, anyone else following me won't find much. Not the best for around rocks but to cover ground and picking up faint signals it's the best. I do go into water but the coil floats, so it's hard work, normally I would use my excalibur 2 which is awesome.

I have a NOX 800, SDC 2300, SDC 2200. The 2300 is my gold finding machine, over a pound. The 2200 finds big deep nuggets. The NOX is my silver finding machine, but it has also found about three grams of gold, some of the tiniest nuggets ever, and a few nice nuggets in trashy areas. If I had to choose, I would get the 2300, everyone in our group uses a 2300 now, slowly we all upgraded. When your friend asks, can you hear this? It is gold! And your detector sucks, and you realize what your skipping over. Later that day, I bought mine. Every one of my Minelab metal detectors has paid for itself.

Yes the Minelab GoFind range is definitely aimed more at kids. Depending on your budget, the Nokta Simplex, Minelab Equinox 800 or Garrett Apex would all certainly be very capable starting units. Remember to factor in costs for digging equipment/pinpointer. I’m happy to answer any other questions you have in future 👍 Best of luck.

@@OurPastAu thank you so much for the reply. I needed up going with the Garrett 300i as a starter option. I thought it has the features I need backed by a reputable name. I was going to get the one down from it but the 300 just had a few more tricks up it’s sleeve to pass up ie: pinpointing, coil cover, controls cover and ear muffs (they’re probz not the greatest tho lol). Keep up the good work and videos. I’ll be sure to keep tuning in

Is that Zed a 5-speed or 4-speed stick? Damn that thing is huge. I tell ya what, I live inland without really any appreciable water around, except for the odd little lake here or there. For me, that Vanq540 is optimal. But im confused on why rechargeable batteries are a negative with some ppl. Let's say you and a partner are in the field and one has the 540 and the other has whatever other machine that doesn't take batteries. And they both run out of power. With the 540, you can pull out the dead batteries, put them in your pocket to recharge when you get home, and throw in a replacement set of recharged batteries or even regular Duracells and you're off! With your partner's machine, he/she is done! I myself never ever consider versatility to be a negative. Am I missing something? Im newer at the hobby but still, I cant figure out why batteries would be a negative, other than a rechargeable unit not having batteries to lose or drop. But if the thing goes dead you're either done or you have to carry a portable charger like an emergency cell phone power-pack, and thats the same thing as batteries anyway!!?

As someone who has used the Xp Deus for around 5 years, I would recommend the Nox 800 instead. I swapped to it this year and not a single regret. The Deus is light and a fantastic machine. But the fact it's wireless from the coil to the remote just adds so much extra EMI and issues. On club rallies it was a pain going near most other detectors, that's why I swapped to the NOX 800 this year. Early when I was new in my metal-detecting club, around 90% of the members had a Deus. It was rare to see someone without one on club rallies. Now, it's rare to see someone use the Deus, Everyone has gone away from it. But anyway, that's my opinion

I like the gpx 5000 here in Alaska most cheap detectors scream your head of on mineralized ground not the gpx ive had it so quiet all day when a plane flys over i can hear it in weird signals way before i see the plane Another thing i found on a certain channel the hand held mine lab pin pointer can be used like an area detector the 5000 will pick up its signal and the hand held detector can find steel at like 20 feet i only had this happen 1 time and i dont know what channel it was on. Time will tell. What im saying is listen for pointer tone in head set and pointer will change tones way before it makes noise in hand in the head set its amazing

You said to keep the go find detectors away from water. I have the 44 and coil works fine in streams and beach.....it is waterproof.
@OurPastAu
@OurPastAu 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, that's correct. As with most detectors on the market, the coil is waterproof, but the control box certainly is not. Being an entry level detector it wasn't made to be a submersible machine, so any exposure to water could result in drowning the machine, which would not be covered under Minelab's warranty.

Equinox 800 is my favorite.... BUT!!! The build quality could of been better. Shaft soooo begin 2000ish rather had the locks that you find on the Simplex and XP machines. And the coil could of been more better concerning its vulnerability. But in overall its still the best. Am however curious about the Deus II

No mention of the only Australian made metal detector QED pulse induction.

@@janninebennett8782 I haven't had the chance to hold - let alone use a QED detector. Nor do I know anyone that owns one, so probably wouldn't be able to do it justice by mentioning it without prior knowledge. Hopefully one day I'll have the chance to use one, and give my opinion. Thanks for the comment Jannine 😁

Figures I'm in WI we getting hit hard with snow. I'm new to detecting and going to pick up a machine come spring I can't wait to go hunting. Just have to pick out a machine and the EQ 800 seems the diggers choice.

If you are going strictly gold I would recommend the gold monster. I didn't really know anything and saw a couple of vids about the eq800 so bought one but I do plan on buying the gold monster which will prob be my gold machine strictly
