At 21:49 I think I would have just equipped Paradise Mantle and passed to hoping to pay for pact and go off with pact protection next turn. I am not sure what line is right but this line is definitely a lot safer. This deck is so sweet, I don't think I have ever seen a Grapeshot for 47.

Would Leyline have been useful to sideboard in round 1? I know they have Omniscience and play and get free reign but would it improve a little? Idk if I’m missing some other interaction. Also would Thassa’s Oracle out of the board be something to combat anti-targets like opposing Leylines? I guess Consign still hits it so maybe not worth the juke. Veil of Summer is no good either I’m guessing if they counter the storm trigger not a spell.

Modern Cheerios was one of my favorite decks back in the day before the mox opal ban. Maybe not a top tier deck, but I still love it. Lately I've been on Mono Blue Belcher playing in paper at my LGS.

15 lands is pretty standard in lists I've seen, and it's what I usually run. I also like 2-4 Noxious Revival, I aggressively use it to recur Retracts and it has so much random splash utility everywhere. I love to see the deck being enjoyed, and especially piloted so well. Wish I had half the focus and memory to be this careful.

@TheEPICStorm This is the list I'll be playing once I get my last Opal: 4 Puresteel Paladin 4 Sram 4 Noxious Revival 4 Mox Opal 4 Retract 1 Hurkyl's 1 Grapeshot 22 cheeri0s 1 Lavaspur Boots 4 Arid Mesa 4 Flooded Strand 3 Hallowed Fountain 1 Sacred Foundry 1 Meticulous Archive 2 Plains I think Lavaspur is going to be a high priority in the new lists. It's awkward needing the one to play it, but if you play it turn 1 or can afford it in the combo, it pays for itself with Paradise Mantle and is a ritual if you have 2+ creatures out. Plus it gives a smidge of protection, and supports sideboard options like Kappa Cannoneer or Hammers.

17:35 should have used hurkylls recall before the draw step so after flare you could have put it back on top with noxious revival, also instead of putting the shockland tapped the turn before its probably better to take 2 to equip paradise mantle to the paladin

I did, nothing different from goldfish other than shoving mox in. No other outs, such as altar or reservoir. I was just surprised nothing from any of the other sets.

20:25 - "I could have played a creature on turn 2, it wasn't an accident, I didn't want to play into another copy of jwari ruins" On your turn 2, opponent only had one untapped land and could not cast a Jwari Disruption. I believe if you had the creature in play on turn 2 (and not had to spend mana on it on turn 3), you would have won that game. But you got game 3 anyway so it didn't matter

DOh! You're right. I guess it was a misplay after all - I was thinking about the wrong thing. EDIT: FWIW, I believe in hindsight that they had Spell Snare. IDK if a turn 2 creature would've even resolved.

I was thinking "He should have played out the Sram first instead of Puresteel, because Puresteel being non-legendary is meaningfully better, and we have a very high likelihood of the first creature being countered." Then at the end of the game, if you HAD kept the Puresteel instead of keeping Sram, you would have most likely won the game by being able to equip Paradise Mantle to Puresteel for 0 and paying for Pact on your next turn. I hadn't considered that possibility way back on turn 3 of course, but it seems my original thought to keep Puresteel in reserve had more merit than I'd anticipated! Ty as always for the great content Bryant, love the exploration of the new Modern!
