OMG we loved Hameediyah nasi kandar although their prawn was a surprising RM24! Paid RM30 for one plate of nasi kandar. One of the most expensive meal in Malaysia for us...still good and still worth it though!👍

JetLag Warriors Yesss Hameediyah was incredible! Haha we also splurged there. Those lamb shanks were 30RM each but they were SO worth it. It can get very expensive if you load up on those luxurious sides like prawns, lobster and lamb shanks. The flavors are so bold and delicious

Haha I love Nasi Kandar and 1 rasam is not enough for me and love so many of the dishes at Nasi Kandar but yes prices not cheap so I seldom choose lamb unless the outlet is famous for lamb too...seafood too have to be very very selective if I not feel like overspending..

Lamb shank rice in an Afghani restaurant here in Munich cost me €15 or RM72... so RM30 for a lamb shank curry in Penang is such a bargain... and probably tastes better too!!

Robert Stephens The flavors on that plate were so bold and explosive that your taste buds may be exhausted after! Started this off with a bang. Blackberry chili roast chicken? Yayy finally I’ve been waiting for this vlog!!😁. Btw the person that banjir the gravy is known as jockey (joki) by locals and they’re the key for the banjir taste. All of the mix is with the right amount of scoop so that you can enjoy every single gravy hint that have been banjir haha. That’s what differ any mamak in whole Malaysia with the Penang. And once again welcome to the food paradise of Malaysia!

Great intro on a little history to origin of Nasi Kandar from JoMae . Love the look of the lamb shank with bryani rice and lamb kurma but I prefer to taste all the flavours and curry gravy individually instead of banjir style... Nice to have all the curries and kurma separately so that I can choose how to banjir my plate . Spicy crunchy papadam used to be included free when having Nasi Kandar or Indian banana leaf rice but last few years most charge customers separately for papadam and rasam. I love to banjir my rice with rasam or drink it..Amazing both Greg and JoMae so strong stomach to enjoy banjir style with all the mix of oily and thick spicy curries. Middle eastern flavour to it ..ahh so so flavourful and satisfying meal..

Thank you so much! We like the history of nasi kandar and wanted to share a bit, especially why it is called nasi kandar. The lamb shank and biryani were delicious! Funny thing is the local couple sitting next to us told us the same that they like it separately. Banjir rice with rasam sounds interesting! May have to try that someday. Very satisfying meals indeed

Hey Greg and Jumi!! We always love you're eating stuff we've never seen or tried before. Love this beautiful spread of food!! Love the Lamb shank! Jumi looks like she enjoyed it too! This place you went to that it's your second time there. We LOVE chicken, and we ould definitely get that! Especially when it's fried!! YUM!! Awesome bite of that fried chicken Greg!! The place you went to that had the dal!! We would definitely try that for sure. Love that the curries are so fragrant! Great video and thanks for taking us with you on this amazing food adventure!! Much love!!

Nasi Kandar is now something I can spot thanks to your videos. Usually i just end up eating things not knowing what they are called. Usually I only eat Okra in Filipino Food. Some of the names are similar to Tagalog (goat and onions)

Nasi kandar is one of our favorite dishes we’ve had here so far. Okra is nice to add in some veggies to the meal here. There’s some overlap with Bisaya and Malay words here too
