Love me some NES homebrews! More on that Plummet Challenge. The developer Fista Productions has other cool games like Carpet Shark where you’re a shark living in a carpet eating people, an armwrestling one where it’s kinda like punch-out but a button masher and a bunch of short horror games where you play as jason, michael, freddy, and candyman that the guy originally made in the 90s as flash games for the computer but demade them as NES roms. So happy people are still making games for the this system.

Aaaah so that's where my sudden spike of downloads for Mine Mayhem came from :P Thanks for covering it. It was one of my game jam games :D If you like it I'd suggest my port of Wordle as well as Blazing Blocks ;)

5:11 Isn't that the same porcupine from Barrio Sesamo (Spain Sesame Street). Edit: It _is_ , and Don Pimpon is there too. I spent a lot of time on the Muppet Wiki.

Yea. mega drive has some very nice homebrew and plentiful . However much I like super nes the scope seems broader for devs on the sega

Another homebrew worth looking at is former dawn. A nes game, that's meant to push the hardware to its breaking point. Trust me when i say it's gonna look unreal.

4:31 Remove some colours, and this could perfectly pass as a "H.E.R.O II" for the Atari 800XL.

Pity you didn't review Sam's Journey. I know it was originally a C64 home-brew, but the NES port is excellent. There's even a free demo you can download to play the first few levels.

Hi i have a question, are nes games like lizard, dataman and other homebrew games perfectly compatible with the Italian PAL A system? I ask because I recently bought the homebrew game sams' journey and after changing the region system by pressing reset 4 times the game started but it doesn't work well, there are glitches on the screen and after a while it freezes, I haven't found any explanations about it online and nobody knows if these homebrew games are actually compatible with all region formats or only with NTSC and PAL B.

Well il tell you this, most of the nes homebrews come out the u.s and are never pal friendly. My n8 everdrive wouldn’t load n play many unlicensed and homebrew in my uk nes version console . No idea why I’m assuming they are written differently for u.s /jap speeds I’m not sure but I bought an AV famicom and famicom n8!as I was sick of this and every game without fail works in 60 hz and composite video so it’s deffo a pal problem

NES could do so much better, prettier and more complex gameplaywise than those "newer" games (except Indivisible, that looks great). Batman Return of the Jocker, Battletoads & Double Dragon, Duck Tales 2, Mega Man 6, Kick Master, Power Blade 2 and many many more titles got gameplay and visuals that are way better. Even Spectrum gets more interesting releases like metroidvania based on Alien movie.

I often thought of downloading a bunch of homebrew games to go back in time and release them as real NES games. I often think I might get caught though, like someone was working on a game for 40 years and knows I'm a time traveler.
