no joke man, not only that but like genuinely shitty B movies intentionally made on a shoestring with zero effort in the 80s to cash in on a fad are better than this this is below the level of even asylum movies the editing, the sound design (a nguyen staple of course) i mean FUCK, take the parrot out of the room! or redo the line! or USE A BOOM and yet hes trying so fucking hard the actors for birdemic said hed chew out civilians walking through his shot, even though hed be in public without a permit noone can be THAT clueless about basic cinematography, dialogue or fucking blocking i mean all that aside, the color correction, the lighting, its so washed out and gross looking, flat.. not to mention he always gives his leads super cool tech jobs you know are just wish fulfillment for his own life its really telling if you watch that documentary interviewing the dudes who found him in LA driving around handing out birdemic with his themed car, at first they didnt realize it wasnt tongue in cheek, he was dead serious they helped him promote it, and like Neil Breen or Wiseau, gets such a self inflated ego and is clueless about how shit it is, at least hes not putting himself in his films though ironically those 2 lined him up with a producer to pop out the suquel, but it was still in talks and they told him not to make it public, he blabbed about it in a following interview and they shut it down then he tried leaning into the shlock and made the sequel like he knew it was bad, even though hes making all the same mistakes i mean, the guys got a dream, but sometimes you just dont have the skill for your dream.. for a dude that fled vietnam as a child during the war, just like Wiseau or the Samurai Cop dude he wants to make SUPA COOL AMERICAN MOVIE and comes across like an alien neil breen, being from here, doesnt have that excuse haha, neither does the Get Even guy this is like a guy spending 20 years as a musician and has a 1 string banjo that isnt even tuned right and hes playing with his feet or a fucking artist drawing in MS paint moving the mouse with his ballsack at least Uwe Boll and Paul WS Anderson know their product, and as shitty as their movies are, have editing/decent shots/sound design that isnt insane, and are fucking PTA compared to them

@ProjectFlashlight6127 жыл бұрын
Parts: TCH _was_ totally coherent and polished. You do know that MST3K removed up to 20 minutes of each film they riffed to make room for adverts and host segments, right? Many films (eg Werewolf, Time Chasers) started off awful, sure, but were made completely incomprehensible by, and are much better without, the random block cuts of footage by the MST3K people. Parts is actually a great movie without the massive edits and the riffing.
@ambskater976 жыл бұрын
I disagree.

No amount of editing down could've given the actors in Parts any talent, or made it not look like it was shot in the back of a community college. But at least it wasn't this trainwreck. You know, once upon a time, I actually felt bad for James Nguyen. I mean it can be rough to try and make it in the film industry. But now, he's on my shit list. I mean he NEVER learns from his mistakes. Almost every film I've seen riffed or reviewed has suffered from the same problems and featured the same plotlines along with the same terrible delivery. I mean nearly every film he's made could be watched side by side, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Except Birdemic, but that's only because of the terrible effects. And the fact that he has the balls to use his own film (Julie and Jack) as a reference in this thing, is the icing on the cake. Look, there's nothing wrong with a little self-insert parody, I mean Alfred Hitchcock did it a lot. But HE was talented, and James doesn't even rank in the same galaxy as Hitchcock! Where is this asshole getting the money for this? What nude photos, addresses where bodies are buried, blackmail does he have that can afford him to keep making this shit?
@rimshot29527 жыл бұрын
Lol! It's quite disturbing to see James Nguyen an "The Master of Suspense", Alfred Hitchcock, mentioned in the same paragraph. Lol
@mikenewton67247 жыл бұрын
And the thing is, his underlying idea/project is actually pretty good: revisiting the basic themes of Hitchcock films in the context of contemporary technology, climate change, etc. (kinda like how De Palma did Hitchcock through the lens of 80s cultural tropes). So, he has a good idea, and he has the drive, willpower and money to actually write and direct his own movies; what he doesn't have is talent.
@Mellow1377 жыл бұрын
its actually kinda sad when you look at it that way. Nguyen desperately wants to make amazing movies like the ones that inspire d him, but he just doesnt have any talent, and he never learns from his mistakes and does the same things over and over. still, despite this birdemic 2 is my least favorite film from him cuz he's just so self aware. the fun in the first movie is having some misguided director thinking that what he made was something deep and profound.
