Had to give up my Helix after my 81st. and I regret it every day! Thanks for taking me along on your rides. The hills and side roads around Chattanooga look much like those where you ride. Oh how I miss those " . . . knees in the breeze" rides!

I just finished looking at this video again & really enjoyed it! As a regular viewer of your videos, it seems to me that you had the best riding experiences & the most enjoyment when you were riding your Honda Helix & also the Yamaha Vstar 650. Those bikes just seem to be the ones that really touched your soul, more than any of the others. Thanks so much for sharing your videos, rides, & thoughts on life, riding, & motorcycles. As a relatively new rider (4 years) who came to the sport late in life, your thoughts, experiences, & wisdom has really helped form my thoughts & experience on riding. Thank you! Keep the shiny side up & ride safe!

awwwww Well thank you for the kind words! In the life of a motovlogger sometimes we have a habit of forgetting who all we are talking to sometimes. I am sure glad my vids could be of at least some help / inspiration to you. The Helix and the Silverwing scooters seen the most miles ridden by me by a loooooong shot, that's for sure. Many, many 300+ miles days were spent on both of those scoots. The Vstar 650 I still say is one of the absolute BEST beginner bikes if someone wants to start out on a lightweight cruiser style bike. My son had it licked in no time and it brought great joy to my heart teaching him to ride it, then having him follow me along on some bike rides. :-D Ride safe my friend!

Rewatching some of the older vids. Seems they are better now than the first time I watched them. I'm also more aware of editing techniques now instead of being just a drive by viewer haha. Did you know Joe Wolfe in the Knoxville area that put a NOS on his Helix? A real character.

I love those roads that they still call "highways" but they are carved in nature and scenic places! That part of the road at 2:00...Awesome! That was a nice look out too! Watch out for hand cramps and them bugz!!!! LOL! I see the Helix performs just as well off road too! And looks sooo comfy! Awesome moments brother! Ride safe!

hahahaha! RIGHT! And yes, spending nearly a month just editing this vid, watching hours and hours of video, man alive. I had not realized just *how much* time me and the little scooter had spent together! I will be sad to see it go, but it is time to move on. The Helix has served me very well, having only suffered 2 breakdowns in 2 years. 1) When I put a CHINESE carb on it (well duuuhhhhhh!) and 2) when the clutch bearings went kaput at 20k miles. But it never once has left me stranded! I don't know that I will ever have another scooter anytime soon. Then again................I may never find a *buyer* fer this one too. hahaha!

I started on Scooters. I actually have two of them. Both are not on the road... Both Chinese. One is a gy6 based 150cc (gy6 is a clone of the honda engine) and a 250cc (clone engine of your helix).... both have the same body style (touring de150 and de250)... yup... fun bikes... my original turtle shell 150 was the most fun I've had on a bike, that includes the gold wings and the Aprilla 500 touring scoot I had for a while. So yeah, scooters rock, socks!

@coyote adventures just bought a helix clone Q-Link Commuter 250 with compression issues. First Bike/Scooter. Got all the parts to re do the cylinder and piston this upcoming week. Mine has 2300 miles on it I’m willing to bet your old helix had quite a few more judging by your videos lol. Hoping to have these types of adventures this summer. If you’re still looking to get another helix I’d say pick up a clone either a Q Link Commuter 250 or a CF Moto Fashion. Read a lot of bad things on Chinese clones but just about every helix part is interchangeable on either of those clones plus they came stock with a cheap little sound system. Planning on ripping out the 4 stock 5w 3.5 inch speakers and replacing with some higher end speakers and amp. This is making for a great little project during quarantine so far

When I sold mine off it had clicked just a wee past 25,000 miles on it. And honestly, that's just baby miles. Acworth Parric had OVER 130,000 miles on his Helix. Yeah, he rode it a LOT. 😆

That is the saddlemen TS 3200 But be aware, that is a collapsible bag from the factory. Like a big gym bag. I'll built My Own wooden skeleton frame for it and put it inside the bag so it would hold its form and stay rigid which also provided me with a solid surface to mount the backrest on to

Im getting a 95 black Helix tomorrow,,,, Awsome scooter, do you see any perofrmance mods or parts that you could add to the Helix to give it more bang? Like exhaust, re-jetting, or anything like that?
@coyote102076
@coyote102076 2 жыл бұрын
Look at my carb rebuild vids. A loud exhaust on a scooter just gets annoying and sounds dumb with little gains to be made. Other than swapping to Dr. Pulley sliders and jetting the carb for whatever Altitude you will be doing the most of your riding at, I would not waste money on anything else "performance ". If you are going to be running a lot of interstates, then a Burgman 400 is a MUCH better tool. But for 2-up riding at 65 MPH or less, the Helix is amazing!

Read through the comments and found nothing on the convex mirrors you have installed. I have installed small round ones on every bike I’ve ever owned. I used to think it was the death of my owning the bike. I’m curious if you know where one might get a set of those. I’m getting a 2004 yellow helix this coming Sunday, a guy is hauling it from 250 miles away to have me purchase it, It is his 85 yrs of age mother’s bike. I guess she wants a side x side now. Btw the bike has 3300 miles on it.

I would like to know more about how you attached the LG phone to the center of the steering wheel and what I believe is the a tablet attached under the front dash cover. For the cell phone: VELCRO! :-D The GPS mount was a 1" wide X maybe 3" long piece of aluminum I bent to about a 75'ish degree angle and screwed it onto the dash (with the windshield removed) Then mounted the Garmin mount onto that bracket. So...…...yeah...……..both home made of sorts. I too could not find exactly what I wanted, so as found here & there throughout my channel I tend to just make what I want when not available. lol Thanks for watching!
