What truly amazes me about James Gunn's DCU slate is how much passion and love for the comics James Gunn has the comics and for so many of these characters, to the point that, as you said, countless copies of these comic book source materials got sold out, which is insane. I have a lot of faith in James and Peter Safran's 8-10 year plan as this is DC's last chance to make a comeback for the better and with actual throughout the planning and new direction. I have a lot of ideas and hopes for what we could see in the long-term future of the DCU such as a Green Lantern film franchise/saga, a Question tv series, a New Gods show/film, a Green Arrow & Black Canary series/film, a Zatanna film, a Teen Titans film etc... Even though I do have some small concerns and queries such as whether this reboot will be a soft or full reboot, how soon will it be until we hopefully see recast versions of characters like Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, also the aforementioned age gap between Batman and Superman, why to start with Daimian (even though do like Damian), what will it be like to bring in actors for both animation and live-action, etc...? But all and all I am still hyped to hopefully see a bright future for DC

I am really hoping that they do keep some things separate. Very skeptical of the games carrying over actors and keeping continuity. I feel like having rocksteadys Arkham franchise doing it’s own thing while Nolans Batman/DCEU was coming out and acting as a BTAS spiritual successor was inspired and I hope we don’t lose the charm of the creativity that is inherent from the different mediums adapting the same IP. Give us those movies and give us entirely different games with expressive artstyles, new stories and engaging gameplay 🙏

My only real concern has to do with the Batfamily. Tim is my favorite DC character, and skipping to Damian doesn't sound good for him. I'm hoping they don't erase him (as happens too often), but even if he is part of it, the start of his story-his foundation-is part of what makes him such a great character. He's the kind of character who would NEED a prequel, and I'm not confident that would happen. Everything else sounds great though. I would love to see Lanterns pulling from GL/GA. Another character I'd love to see is Etrigan in Swamp Thing.

*I feel like The Green Lantern Series* should be like Serpico or Batman Year One… in the sense that these “Fish out of water” cops are sent to work with a police force on Earth (because the series is set on Earth) to solve an obviously extra-terrestrial crime.. and along the way they realise the police department is corrupt and it’s like this silent game of weeding out the bad cops and who can be trusted 🤷🏾‍♂️

That could really work. I'm really excited to finally see Green Lantern again in live action and I'm happy they're using both John and Hal hopefully they can equally flesh out both their characters and introduce a great dynamic between the two Hal being the action first, courageous, instinctual GL and John the no-nonsense, humble, dutiful GL. I also hope they take inspiration from films like Training Day especially if we see Sinestro who is a really underrated DC villain and Gl's best/biggest villain, I hope they introduce him as a GL first, then explore his character and dynamic with Hal to flesh out his philosophy and perspective on keeping order through fear, making a Shakespear character of sorts that we see fall to villainy. I've quite literally written down 6 film scripts for what I've mapped out to be a saga of GL epic sci-fi films if the series is successful enough to warrant a live-action sci-fi film, which I passionately believe the character deserves, as Green Lantern is, in fact, DC's Star Wars and should be the same treatment for live action. I've got castings, storyboards and my own personal ideas and sketches that I one day plan to pitch on KZbin and who knows maybe James Gunn could see it which would literally be a dream come true.

@@jadenbryant9283 Interesting idea, I mean the Guardians (except for Ganthed) are honestly villains themselves so I could see that being the case. I haven't read the Earth One book in a while so I'll have to reread them someday. I have been working on a 6-film script for a Green Lantern film saga pitch and I have castings, draft scripts and my own ideas for an entire saga following the Emerald Knights. I also fore-shadow Blackest Night as a two-part end to this saga (I have an entire saga pitch written be-low) I thoroughly believe with real passion and vision Green Lantern could become DC's Star Wars. I hope to share my film pitches someday on KZbin as well. *Film 1: Green Lantern: First Flight:* - Hal Jordan's origin, meeting an emotional turmoil Hal Jordan may be cocky but fails to express his emotions after the same circumstances with his mother dying from cancer and Hal feeling emotionally responsible, in addition to coming to terms with his complicated feelings of losing both his father and now the fear and loss he has about losing his mother, but he also needs to accept his emotions and express his fears if he wants to grow. He also has problems with expressing his feelings towards Carol Ferris (his boss), who begins the film as someone who's wise to Hal's cocky macho-man bravado and doesn't fall for it, but when he eventually does share how much he hates himself, and how much he's truly scared about letting others down just like he blames himself for his father and mothers death, that why he goes head first into action to compensate for his own inner hatred and guilt. I also want to ground this story for the first half, and later explore the GLC in the second act with Abin crash-ing into Earth and Hal taking up the mantle as Green Lantern, where he is also partnered up with Sinestro, explores Oa and meets the Guardians and all kinds of GL members/aliens like Tomar Rae, Ch'p, Boodika, Kilowog who gives him a hard time as a trainee calling him a "Poozer" but soon grows to like Hal for his natural instincts with danger. Sinestro is still in mourning after learning about Abin's death, and though he hides his distaste for Hal as Abin's successor, he soon learns to open himself up to Hal and accept him as a partner while simultaneously teasing his own inner hatred for the Guardians and their hypocrisy/bureaucratic op-position to handling intergalactic threats. The villain in this film would be Krona and The Man-hunters, who act as a direct personification of cold emotionless machines that the Guardians first used, and Krona would act in his own quest to get revenge on the Guardians for banishing him, even though my take on Krona was banished only because he wanted to explore what existed outside of the universe, the rest of the Guardians opposed his actions with no legitimate justification, thus allowing Krona to activate a failsafe in the Manhunters to go rogue years ago. After millennia of unjust banishment, Krona returns to get even and reactivates the Manhunters to take out the Corps. Hal and Sinestro together, in a 'Training Day'-Esque premise, act to stop him and Krona acts as a dark reflection of Hal and his natural instincts and dis-taste of authority, when Krona went against unjust authority he was punished, just as Hal has over the years and Krona tries to persuade him, but Hal learns to overcome his inner hatred and fear of letting overs down as he's learnt throughout the film to embrace his emotions and accept his fears and insecurities, working alongside Sinestro they defeat Krona and The Man-hunters, Hal is respected amongst GLC/Oa and amongst Sinestro, Hal comes to terms with his insecurities and learns to make peace with the loss of his parents and discovers a new purpose in life, while opening himself up to Carol (teasing their eventual romance). Furthermore, we would reveal at the end that the Guardians secretly knew about the Manhunters yet do not share their connections with any GL, and it is only when Krona tells Sinestro about how the Manhunters were created by the Guardians and killed millions, especially Sector 666, only then does Sinestro feel betrayed by his Corps and beliefs thus forcing Sinestro to make it seem that Krona committed suicide when really he killed himself with a ring and began devising a plan to end the injustice teasing his downfall. Post credit scene also teases John Stewart and Atrocitus. *Film 2: Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns* :- introduce Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns as new Lantern factions, acting rebellious vigilantes against the Guardians as Atrocitus much like the comic is burdened by the loss of his family and people under the Man-hunters and blames the Guardians, as he learnt that they were responsible from the time he was with the Five Inversions (hypothetically explored in a Green Lantern anthology show). Atrocitus forms the Red Lanterns to kill members of the GLC to get closer to Oa. Hal and Sinestro are introduced to new Lanterns John Stewart and Guy Gardener, and with Kilowog and Tomar's help they separate into teams to stop the Red Lanterns. Hal also learns to accept new allies and has to deal with Carol Ferris being taken over by the Star Sapphires/Zamarons who left the Guardians to create the Star Sapphire Corps of love. Essentially revolving around a theme of accepting love and not hatred. We also have Sinestro reveal the lies the Guardians have been hiding about the Manhunters and Ganthet takes full responsibility as he and another Guardian Sayd admit to their actions, feeling nothing but guilt and shame. The Guardians are forced to banish Ganthet as well after he opens up about the truth and they discover his experiments to use the blue light of 'hope' as a power source. Luckily Sayd gives Ganthed the means to activate the blue light initiative to depower all Red Lanterns. Sinestro at the end of the film betrays Hal and reveals how he has been using the Weaponeers of Qward to create his own Lantern ring and use prisoners from Oa's science cells to form an entire army of prisoners to go against the GLC after the years of lies and hypocrisy that Guardians have hidden, which is further personified by Atrocitus and his pure rage filled hatred as he wishes to die in peace knowing he's gotten his revenge for his family and people. Hal is utterly mortified by Sinestro's betrayal and doesn't want to fight his friend despite Sinestro also not wanting to fight Hal he knows that he must do this in order to truly allow his perception of true peace to prosper in the universe as it will be governed by fear since the will is not enough to keep people like Atrocitus at bay, especially if they can create their own power rings. Sinestro is forced to subdue and badly injure Hal, while also revealing Boodika switched sides after Sinestro revealed the truth to her, releasing all the prisoners to become Yellow Lanterns. Hal is speechless at his friend's betrayal and badly injured. Then the film cuts to black. Also, tease Saint Walker. *Film 3: Green Lantern: Fear* - adapting Sinestro Corps War *Film 4: Green Lantern: Agent Orange* *Film 5: Green Lantern: Blackest Night Part 1* - I plan to have my take on Willian Hand introduced in Film 5, but also teased in Film 1, in Film 5 he would actually be friends with Kyle Rayner, be college roommates, and show how much Kyle cares for William as a friend. My take on William Hand would be in his early/mid 20's and be a mentally struggling/suicidally depressed person as he has struggled with hearing voices of the dead his entire life, and has been thought of as mentally ill by his family, acting as the black sheep of the Hand family, isolated by his brothers and emotionally disregarded by his parents, who have treated him with cold, controlling discontent as they see him as a failure, leaving William to be emotionally alone his whole life until Kyle treats him like a real person, giving William compassion. In Film 5 I would begin the Blackest Night by having it centred around all the Earth GLs (Hal, John, Guy and Kyle) attempting to save William Hand from Sinestro and Atrocitus from working together to try and kill William to prevent the Blackest Night as he is destined to unleash Nekron. Not only that but The Guardians would also order Green Lanterns from all sectors to hunt down William Hand as they too are terrified by the Blackest Night (The Guardians as hypocrites to their code) thus creating massive tension and conflict throughout the Corps. It all being a race to save this one guy to prevent the Blackest Night, and it also tackles concepts and questions that even Hal and John struggle with, is one life worth saving when the universe is at stake, is killing William really the right option, especially if has suicidal tendencies? *Film 6: Green Lantern: Blackest Night Part 2*

Overall I'm super excited about all of this, BUT I'm very very nervous about The Authority movie. I feel like it would be so easy for it to become just "The Boys but DC" when it's so much more complex than that. The Boys is about corporate greed and capitalism corrupting super-powered people which is great in its own right. But The Authority is about the inherent power and authority that comes with superhuman abilities and their relationship to the state and the conflict between institutional authority versus superhuman authority.

some DC ideas that I would pay all my life savings to see on screen: -Wally west, as long as they take more inspiration from Young Justice than the Flash tv show .KF's suit in The flash in my opinion is overdesigned, and while I don't mind the change in skin tone, I also don't think the hairstyle worked for the suit -clayface. One of my favorite rouges in Batman's gallery. specifically Ethan bennet. He is my favorite clayface and It would cause some issues if Damien tried to dismember him, or hurt him a lot as he was once Bruce's friend - a storyline either involving Jason Todd or Jimmy Olsen. More of Jimmy because I don't remember a good adaptation of Jimmy. He could be like, Superman's healer or something and constantly joke about how Lois loves superman and Clark loves Lois and somehow reveal his Identity to Lex Luthor or anything -Let some of the experienced hero's rouges be gone. Have Ra's dead or have Cheetah in custody or captain cold avenging his sister like injustice and protecting Central city while Flash is out of town. Have Lobo paid off to not come to earth on bounties. It would be cool to have a world that actually has events and has people that rise and fall. Heck I wouldn't mind If They start with heroes gone and have others gone trying to find them. It would be world building.

I’m really excited for this new DC Universe! I’m really happy that we are getting the Bat-Family & this new universe has a chance to be better then the MCU if they do it right! Personally I feel like they should hold off on the Justice League until chapter 2 of the universe & have the next chapter that being chapter 2 should revolve around Heroes & Vigilantes. Lastly by the end of chapter 2 I would really like to have the line up be John Stewart, Super Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Shiera Hall & even Martian Manhunter! (Basically the Animated universe version which I love to death 😁) Also, as much as I like Darkseid I believe they should hold off on him and instead have the League fight the Legion of Doom or something! I just love DC & comics in general so this is what I would honestly want out of the DCU in the future 🙏 (Side Note; DC comics has a really big theme of Gods trying to be humans and what not, so I think a way to do this would be to take inspiration from the Cadmus Arc in Justice League Unlimited which is hands down one of my favorite Justice League stories ever! So taking inspiration off that and maybe even pulling another Justice League Unlimited by slowly building up the team over time would be incredible! This could also work to show how dangerous Darkseid is when he eventually comes into play with all the heroes and maybe even villains having to work together in order to stop him!)

I love all of your ideas and absolutely agree with them. I'm so excited to see James Gunn's long-term future planned out of the DCU, and I'm very excited about a lot of these projects, you really feel how passionate James feels about these characters and stories. Also love your idea to name Chapter 2: Heroes & Vigilantes. I also agree that instead of building Darkseid up too soon as a JL villain like Thanos for the Avengers, they should rather use Darkseid in small appearances and explore his character in something like a New God's project or a Mister Miracle project (especially Tom King's run which is absolutely pheromonal and coined the term "Darkseid Is"), use Draksied more as an omnipotent force of evil, than a villain, or at least not so soon. BTW I am also so glad there finally taking inspiration from the DCAU and other DC animated media, I also hope they bring in legends like Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Mark Waid, Grant Morrison etc... to act as executive producers and writers of these projects. I also had an idea that the films that introduce potential members for the DCU Justice League, these films could introduce potential members for the DCU Legion of Doom, which would be built up as the big threat of the DCU and act as an almost twisted build-up and hype technique that was used when the first Avengers was being built up back in the day.

Again the idea of Chapter 2 being “Heroes & Vigilantes” would help to establish the heroes & also bring forth more of a focus on the heroes which would lead up to the Justice Leagues formation and the Heroes all coming together! The vigilante aspect I included because if they are going to tackle things like the Bat-Family or Teen Titans in the movies or even shows it would be cool to include & flesh out characters like Deathstroke or Red-Hood which is mainly one of the characters that made me think of Chapter 2 focusing on Heroes & Vigilantes! Also, coming off of Chapter 1 Thai was an idea I didn’t mention but the idea of also fleshing out characters that are indirectly involved with monsters, that being magic users! Characters like Zatana & Dr. Fate representing that Hero aspect & maybe even Constantine & Etreigan kinda acting like Vigilantes of some sort potentially building up to a Justice League Dark down the line 👀 (Side Note; Seeing how much James Gunn loves bringing in obscure & not very well-known characters would work really well if he eventually brings the Justice League Dark storyline & characters together! It could help to show fans many fan favorite characters like Constantine, Zatana, & Etreigan finally onto the big screen, maybe even introducing audiences to characters like Spector, Gray Ghost, Dead-Man, & even Detective Chimp! Exploring magic in the DCU would be like a dream & honestly I feel like that could be a really good idea for them to take into account when eventually bringing in magic to the universe!)

One of the things I actually LOVE about the announcement is that these adaptations are directed inspired by specific comics like Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow....I love that because is exactly what the DC early animated films did to perfection (before they start adapting the stupid new 52 crap), those films are some of the pure best comicbook adaptations made and is sad they never get brought to the conversation because they are ANIMATED and as we animation fans know very well general audiences always assume animated means for KIDS, and that just flat ignorant and wrong....so if these films will take that approach, I'm all forward to...also Woman of Tomorrow is my favorite book DC have print in the last 3 years, this and Wonder Woman Death Earth, so my hype levels for that film are beyond the moon.....pretty interesting in see the Weller show, the Lanterns show sounds soo much fun, and YES BUSTER GOLD, INJECT ME THAT NOW in my veins, and please make it right. Overall I'm positive now.........................but I'm concern with the casting, I hope we just stop doing the force diversity and gender and race swap thing Marvel have been doing, and James and his team just cast the actors that fit the role perfectly, stop race swapping characters no one ask for, that's all I hope so we can start this universe in the right step, right inspiration for books, very well rounded diverse list of establish characters, actors that embodied those characters perfectly, hopefully good writing and heart and cross fingers this be what DC need.

I'm overall pretty excited about the announcements. The animation and shows being set in the same universe seems like they might be jumping the shark. While it might produce some interesting or een great media told in different formats, it could lead to some creative restrictions if they don't end up set under the elseworlds banner. I Imadgining that if they pushed for the main comics universe to be set in the same universe, there would be pushback, as they would be changing the contnuity of a source material and a long established cannon. Not saying its one to one, or that overlap between mediums is a bad thing, but I think its also good when they can explore wildly different tones (like with The Batman and what a Brave in the Bold movie with inspirations from the Morrison run might look like), or even completly seperate and not overlapping continuities taking inspiration from each other (Such as how The Batman took inspiration from not just various comics but spesifically The Arkham games and The Animated Series). And DC only relatively recently realaunched their main animated movie universe from the new 52 inspired one to the 'tomorrowverse' which seems to be a spin on modern dc with some elements from Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier. That animated movie universe is pretty new and only a few movies in. It has some good stuff going on, but it doesn't seem like it would fit with a continuity where they're introductin the characters in a spesific way. It might have to be under the elseworlds banner, but that might also be weird if they have two movie universes with relaunches around the same time Also, it might be troubling if they're planning on having the live action actors do VA work. I'm sure many of them are very talented, and some of them will do decent jobs with their voice, and voice acting and on screen acting havle some overlap, but they aren't the same skill. Edit: also, its nice to see animation from dc is getting greenlit, as for it bit it seemed like its future from warner bros. after the discovery merger was shakey with a lot of animated work being cut from hbo max. Being in the same contiinuity as the live action stuff might be a way to legitimize their animation, not saying its necessary, just that they're showing that they can play on the same field. I'm also excited for Swamp thing, but I think it could work better as a semi-eposodic show instead of a movie

Honestly the focus on Morrison with Batman kinda worries me because alot of the stuff feels like it made the "Batgod" a thing, where he could win ANYTHING againts ANYONE because he thinks of everything and can do everything because he's Batman. Also i hope Talia will be treated very differently because the run has been often critized for the racism and uncalled for changes like turning Damians birth from a consentual thing between two lovers (where Talia tricked Bruce into thinking she misscarried because she saw him loose focus because of her and the kid, so it was done out of love rather than just to trick him and make him leave) to drugging and rape. SO i am hoping for the movies to change Talia back to who she was before Morrison made her into a horrible mother and a rapist who's doing all this to have the perfect warrior as a child and to rule the world, because the original Birth of the Demon wasn't about that. So hopefuly she'll get treated right....also her, Ra's and Damian should be played by east asians (Damian by a mixed actor prefferably) rather than white washing them again.

My main concerns are still the lack of clarity regarding the extent of this reboot, I agree they probably should've done a hard recast for all the characters that directly connected to the prior DC films, namely their Justice League, I just think that in principle if you're going to recast both Batman and Superman, recast everyone else. Things like Shazam and Peacemaker I think are separate enough to where they could still carry on, and as you said they also need to rebuild trust with us as a brand given how many cancelled projects there's been. That said they definitely hit a few key points for things I wanted to see. I'm super glad we aren't having a universe starting from scratch, it seems like very few of these projects will be origin stories, and we're getting things like multiple Green Lanterns and Batman with his fourth Robin, I'm very glad about that. I'm also glad we're getting a break away from some of the major DC heroes, sure we're getting another Batman and Superman, but seeing as they're the two central pillars of DC that makes sense to me, and Green Lantern's had time away from the general audience. The rest like Wonder Woman, the Flash and Aquaman I think are smart choices to not have featured heavily early on, granted I still feel a full recast would've been better, but as it stands I'll just wait and see. Things like The Authority, Booster Gold, and especially Creature Commandos and Swamp Thing I think are great choices, seeing as DC has plenty of disconnected darker horror type characters who work great in their own little corner, you don't need any Superman references in a Swamp Thing story. As much as I like Marvel, that universe is primarily comprised of superheroes, whereas DC has branched out a lot more with darker or more abstract ideas, and I'm glad they aren't overlooking that or holding off on it. I think that's a key feature that will differentiate them from Marvel and will help draw in a wider audience.

Star Wars as the basis for how the new dc is going is apt including their venture into connective animation and games. Besides there’s so many ways to explore the dc universe and while the video mentioned time being kinda stuck in modern day I raise that we have perfect ability to go to the far future of the 31st century or the distant past of the 19…50s? Whenever the golden age was. Plus we have Elsworlds which being told upfront that there will be things not connected mean that directors that want more freedom will have the opportunity as well as being able to deliver stories like so many famous comics that are able to stand on their own

I almost agree with your video, I like the idea of ​​Gunn and Safran organizing with a lot of patience, for this new DCU. About the whole Viola Davis/ Momoa, I think Aquaman will be a bit clearer on the whole reboot thing cause it already sounds and looks totally detatched from the Sniderverse and nobody cares about the Sniderverse anyway so the general audience don't really know about his continuity and will probably just enjoy the movie. Viola is too much a Nick Fury/General Ross thing in which sure, they appeared in AoS/Hulk but you don't really have to follow this characters everywhere as they serve this "government guy" purpose that doesn't require you to watch them all the time. So when she appears as the government woman in a JLA movie you will just assume "hey, government woman" and having watched her series or other movies will not really influence whatever she does there or will be too minor for us to really question it that deeply. Her series will be watched by people who understand this things, not by general audiences. She is too much of a side character for them to care if she was or wasn't in another movie that nobody liked or cared in the first place and I don't think many families watched TSS and Peacemaker to remember her from the only good things she was in

For Brave and the Bold I'm excited for filmmakers to finally embrace the Bat family but I honestly wish they focused on Tim Drake, who unlike Damian is a fan favourite Robin, instead because ever since they introduced Damian in the comics it feels as though they either keep sidelining him or just not make him as interesting anymore. While there are things I enjoy about Damian, like his friendship with Jonathan Kent and his bond with Dick Grayson, but for me at least the character just never really grew on me entirely.
