Because of the laser weapon, I always think of Super Aleste when I see footage of Gunhead, both seriously great vertical shmups.

I enjoyed seeing so many of these kick ass shooters for the PC Engine which looked so awesome and fun too! Salamander and even Gradius from Konami are my favorite old arcade SHMUPS of all time & I would love to see Konami bring them to the switch soon!!

aero blasters I remember enjoying in the arcade! kinda want to track down the genesis version (since I don't have a PCE at the moment.) Gradius 2 is my all time favorite of the Gradius games, though I learned recently the PCE CD port did have some significant changes compared to the arcade... but for the time I don't think it could be topped! absolutely love the soundtrack, as well. I do someday hope to find a real PCE and start collecting some of these amazing shmups!

Well, checked my ROM folder for PC Engine. Gate of Thunder, I almost thought I didn't have, until I found it in the Japanese Folder under PC Engine. So had all of them. Now PC Engine or TurboGrafx, depending on what name you go by is one my dad didn't have, so as such, didn't grow up with it like with many others when I was a little girl. And only game I've tried so far with the Emulator is the Sailor Moon game, which I believe I've mentioned before, so have nearly no experience with this system, so can't say that I have any recommendations. However, these do look like fun, and enjoyed your video. Thank you for this.

Any of the games in this video are well worth playing, but I'd start with Gunhed, Soldier Blade, or Gate of Thunder, they're all pretty forgiving shooters

i luuuvvvvv me some air buster. i burned a bunch of quarters on the arcade and was over the moon when such a faithful version was made for the genesis. game tubers typically never talk about the fantastic port. you always hear them talking about gaires. one starts to think they really suck at shooting games lol.

Pc engine has a best graphic gameplay from an early 90s, never played this console, only seen it from animation series.

Your right, to a point. But games like Thunder Force 4, or M.U.S.H.A, prove that wrong. Thunder Force 4 is the best shooter ever made, period. It proved that the Sega genesis had some serious teeth, but I myself have learned to appreciate the TG16 with in the last ten years or so.

These are great games. Since Konami owns most of these IPs, I wish they would just put the PC Engine shmups on collection compilations or put out another mini console with more games. I appreciate these games and they have been my escape from modern, biased, politically fueled garbage video games.
