I was actually in the vitamin business for many years. Both as an employee of one of the major health food brands, and a distributor for one of the best multi-level marketing companies who had a tremendous product. In both cases there was a lot of education on the subject of nutrition and vitamins. There are several very important things you have not mentioned about multivitamins or any vitamin. The first one is solubility. How likely are the vitamins going to be absorbed by your body? Many of the big ones on the market such as one a day, have very little solubility. The next one which most people don't even think about, is what's on the label actually in the product? If the company does not guarantee they will pass a lab assay that the amount on the label matches what's in the tablet, very many times it's nowhere near what you think you were buying. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, if the nutritional profile shows mostly 100% of the minimum daily requirement, it is not what you want. Why? Because it's just that , the MINIMUM requirement. Best example that everyone would be familiar with is the minimum daily requirement for vitamin C, which is just enough to make sure you don't come down with rickets. What you do want is a vitamin that is tailored not to the minimum but to the optimal dosage for whatever it's intended uses. if you are looking at the label and most of what you see is 100% MINIMUM daily requirements, don't waste your money.

Used garden of life multi for women and had a chronic uti for the few months using it. At 40 something, "at that time", never had one before, but their customer service was great and gave me my money back. Just because things are supposed to be healthy for you doesn't mean they won't react in certain people so everyone has to be careful. As always thank you for your very informative videos!

@b metrix The best multivitamin pill is 16 oz custom smoothie taken 2 a day. Cooked Oats 1 cup, grassfed whey 8g or other algae powder, kale, beets, carrots, coconut oil, berries, apple/pineapple, flax meal, egg shell. Optional multivitamin pill, vita D, K based on blood test, gene markers, other factors. Fat soluble A, D, E, K must be eaten with fatty foods (UCLA, Examine, NIH 2020). Cooked wild canned salmon 10x better than rancid fish oil. Kale/spinach folate is 100x better than junk folate acid. Meth folate is only slightly better since quality folate hasn't been successful capture in pill form (NutritionFact.org, NIH 2018). Any cheap Vita C is fine when consumed 2-4x under 500mg. Oil vita D 1000-10000 UI. RDA guidelines are out of date. AGE garlic 1000-4000mg shows crinical results in vessels (UCLA 2012). Zn under 50mg and Quectin Zn Ion shows promise in preventive fight against Coronavirus, SARS, Flu (NIH 2015). Good basic brands are USP, ConsumerLab, Doorlab, NOW, Soglaye, Life Extension, Puritan, Kirkland, Nature Bounty, UP. Avoid Walmart. These cheap $1 synthetic only fill in the cracks and can be taken biweekly. There's a lack of evidence expensive probiotic powder are better than live probiotics from fermented smoothie or kimchi.

Just a thought. I have never understood how a couple of small pills can take the place of the nutrition of a daily regimen of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Yes, vitamins can supplement but are not to replace. The vitamins and minerals in organic, non gmo whole foods are already in bioavailable form and are the best way to get their nutritional values. Common sense tells me you’d have to take half a bottle if not the whole bottle of vitamin pills to get any benefit at all to equal a daily diet of whole foods.

@@mattsvoid well then it's a shame, because you don't know which company to trust anymore. I think this business of multivitamins should be a lot more regulated and controled. Because even though you try to have a balanced diet, there are certain vitamins very important like vitamin D that so many people don't get enough of and are severely defficient (with our current lifestyles, and especially after lockdowns, we don't get out much anymore so we don't get enough sunlight). So, of all the whole foods/vegan/natural brands that I've been searching on the internet, it seems like Naturelo is the best one for me because it's quite complete and it's more affordable than other brands like Garden of Life and Thorne.
