As a long time Volvo driver (had a '98 C70 T5 since 2011, but changed to a '98 V70 TDI in 2017) I'm giving a huge thumbs up. I might not be able to afford an S/V/XC90 soon, but I'm happy with my V70, although I might replace it with a petrol version (2.5T or T5) of the same generation. As for the audio system, Volvo has a tradition of having great audio quality. My C70 had Dynaudio speakers and a Dolby Surround decoder (the former were standard, the latter was an option), the second gen C70 had an optional Dynaudio system as well, which made me fall in love with the brand (okay, the car itself had a fair share in it too), and after ironing out the issues when switching to B&W, looks like the sound system is great again, although I still haven't heard the latest iteration yet.

I totally agree. This is actually an important decision for some people. If the upgraded stereo isn’t worth the money it can save you a big chunk of money. The reason for the two click reverse/drive is that if you accidentally slap it while driving, it won't just slam you into reverse while doing 80 km/h. And if you need to slap it into neutral, which you usually do when something really wrong (engine stalled and you need to coast to the shoulder) is going on with the car, it's just one tap away because at that moment, you're probably already a bit panicky and not thinking 100% clearly. It's a well thought out safety feature - because it's Volvo, it's what you would expect.
@aleksikalli2 жыл бұрын
I don't think new cars will go in to reverse/drive while moving. But when stopped in traffic you could accidentally change gears so it is a good safety feature. And I guess you get used to pulling twice on the gear lever with time.

I have an old 2002 S60 T5 apart from fact it goes like a rocket the 5.1 sound system is superb it is also very very comfortable on any journey, the down side is 31 mpg but it’s so worth it. I would recommend to anyone considering a Volvo to get the V over an S as it is a no brainer once you realise how much space you have in the V. Great review 👍

I love the priority of doing the soundsystem first but for 70-90K I'm getting a second hand M2 🤟

The m3 and M2 are really cool rn mainly because of the manual

I tried getting one of these in the Winter of 2020, they were impossible to get ahold of, even ordering was a challenge at my local Volvo dealer. Easily one of the most attractive vehicles on the road.

I have a 2011 Buick Lacrosse CXS Touring with the Harman-Kardon surround system and it still holds up phenomenal today. Very atmospheric, with a heavy bass and clear mids. Also has the media package, so my kiddies have their little theater in the back on long rides. Looks like if I can get some thing straight, this would be a nice addition to our fleet! 👌

Tidal is BS and streams "lossless MQA" which is a BS format that's not actually lossless. Try another service.

Could you use anything else that crab rave ? That song is not good for testing speakers. It has no vocals, it's a electronic beat music without any instruments so you can't use it to test for quality. Can't you afford to licence 1-2 good songs ?
@ShortCircuit2 жыл бұрын
It's just for overall consistency at this point since we use it for most of our videos. But, we do have more detailed tests in this video with graphs.

@@ShortCircuit thanks. I saw thar Linus got a headphones test head. That will surelly help with showing in a grahp how does a pair of headphones or even a set of speakers sounds. But can it be used for cars too ?

I have a 2017 Volvo S60 and it has just the premium audio system but it is truly as flat as you can get sound. There’s no fancy sound stage option but holy crap does it ever sound good. Other cars sound systems can brag about heavy bass or a powerful amp, but when it sounds so realistic like how volvo does it really is something special.
@Rurik_Luci2 жыл бұрын
So you mean the best from the factory sound system? Because that title is either misleading or straight-up not true. There are people who spend more than that car is worth on just the speakers for their car that doesn't involve any other components for installation. Notice though I said what that car is worth not what it is selling for because that car is worth less than a quarter of what it is selling for. Unless they have a plan to give you free batteries to replace the ones that power the hybrid system because otherwise every year you're going to have a larger and larger percentage of your battery capacity drop off it's the same issue with full Electric

Being someone who has a Volvo with this Bowers and Wilkins system (XC60 instead of S90) I can confirm this sound system is absolutely glorious. If you were thinking of comparing it to Mercedes’ Burmeister system, the Volvo knocks it out of the park (My dad rented a C300 cabrio).

I have a Volvo with the same gear selector behavior and to be honest I got over the hitting N thing within 2 days 😂 it's order of selections is just like a regular gear selector so it's pretty easy going from a regular automatic gear selector to these Volvo ones.

FYI "Genuine Leather" is an actual technical term that denotes the worst quality of leather you can legally sell. It's NOT a good look on any item that has "Genuine Leather" unless it's a value/cheap product (which, then, it's a good deal ofc)

It actually does have a supercharger (just not attached to the crank anymore, it's run off of the hybrid battery now) They call it an electric supercharger, it's just not listed on the window sticker for whatever reason. I work at Volvo lol. I'm currently driving a 2020 S60 Polestar (the one with the gold brembos/seatbelts) and have the Bowers & Wilkins as well. It's pretty sweet!
