A good idea, whenever you put mechanical connections in an inaccessible place, like the tailgate, you should use some kind of mechanical fastening on the connections. For instance, on the RCA connections for the backup camera, I would have put heat shrink tubing on the connection, to insure years of trouble free use.

This. I use rubber stretch tape a pal from Boeing turned me onto. search for 'self fusing rubber tape'. It can mend radiator hoses when clamped down. I finally replaced the hose THREE years later. Zero leaks. Volvo 855T

I just had to fix my wife's same spot on the wires it took 20 fuse to chase it down. Every so often no taillights. I thought it was bad bulbs and a crossed filament. Finally figured it out when I went to shut the gate with lights on and fuse blew.

With the touch radio, what’s it like at night? The main reason I want the stock radio is at night, the green ish LEDs are easy on the eyes and not distracting in peripheral vision. But a bright LED screen would be distracting. Can you change themes and brightness?

Lol i just got a new muffler for my 3rd gen... It's way too loud, so then is started looking at sound dampening to insulate it, so since i'm gonna pull the carpet up to do that... I might as well do the body mounts... So since i'm doing all that i might as well sound dampen the doors... while the door is apart, I might as well do the stereo... And since i'm doing that... I might as well get some new tail lights and fix some wiring problems... This rabbithole started just from one part lol. Idk how to stop this addiction, but i am going to copy your sound system exactly...

Retired Master installer, here. Any Gen3 needs a full rewire as does most any OEM vehicle wiring over 10-15 years old. Your point about an amp and a 'ton of time' becomes kind of moot. Noise filter? Those are called passive crossovers. They filter frequencies, not 'noise'. :D You actually want your tweeters to reproduce as LOW of notes as possible to help with the staging. This is why the best ones are very spendy. Some can go as low as 500 Hz. Angling the rears up a tad is not that hard once you are making your own mounts. We were doing gestures on in-dash Nexus 7's. Pretty neat stuffs. 15:59 The CT speakers certainly are not what is called 'efficient'. ANY Polk Audio's would sound like you had at least 4x the power going into them. Trust me. Btw that lift is gonna kill your needle bearings up front. Less second hand advice and more getrdun, please. :D

Is it possible to rewire at home or is that more suited to a professional?
@AudioFreqx8 ай бұрын
@@thebrainsack Depends on the ability but it can be DIY. ymmv. I have seen well intentioned enthusiasts burn vehicles to the ground.
@vloppysagina5 ай бұрын
@@thebrainsack You don't need a full rewire if you don't have rust and can hold a steady current when testing. I run a 1500RMS sound system at full tilt nearly every single day. I do a yearly inspection on my wiring and electrical system and the only thing truly taking a toll is the alternator. CS144 incoming, but the stock wiring is solid.
@nam3tag11q7 Жыл бұрын
Pretty good job I would’ve used sauter and heat shrink on the wires but I’ve never really seen much issues using crimp connectors on basic audio stuff so 🤷🏼♂️ also on the plugs ins in the tailgate I would used heat shrink or at least electrical tape on it but pretty good install overall, did you ever measure the factory speaker housing in the rear to see what size it was?
