On today's mini Weightlifting News Show we take a look at some of the biggest squats from elite weightlifters over the last couple of months as athletes gear up for the upcoming continental championships! Mihaela Cambei (-49), who will be battling it out against Italy's Giulia Imperio) went close to triple bodyweight, Artyom Antrov squatted over 700lbs, and we say some 600lbs front squats at under 200lbs in bodyweight too.

@@benchgoblin I try to weed out some Americanisms in my speaking. Some are outright mistakes, some are good. They say pressurise for pressure which is a blatant mistake. They omit propositions making the language sound like a constant advertisement. Vocal fry, narcissism, like like like, up speak. It is embarrassing watching UK speakers ruin their own tongue and reduce the language.

The easiesr conversion from kg to lbs that worked for me is double the kgs and add 10% of what You got: 320*2=640+64=704lbs maybe that's going to be helpful! Awesome content, and can't wait to test the belt I ordered today! Cheers! ❤

When the weightlifter from Egypt made the lift I was relieved. That was definitely an accomplishment. And David Liti is amazing. He maintained good form while squatting so heavy. And he clapped for himself in the video. Also congratulations on the Weightlifting House knee sleeves!

7:18 I also find the band above the kneecaps helps me hit depth way easier and upright, sink in between my hips. It's great for warmups. Whenever I needed to teach a family member or a friend how to squat, the band was always helpful.

Hey man, I love your channel so much. Is there any chance you would be able to do a video on lifters (past or present) who have the best technique? I'm trying to teach myself to snatch and C&J as there are no weightlifting coaches anywhere near me, so I need a frame of reference to compare myself to. Would be insanely grateful. A mix of weight classes would look ideal since I look nothing like the heavyweights so it's hard to compare my technique to Lasha's aha. Thanks and sorry to request a vid!

I have a lot of fitness-related goals, but the one that I feel like will forever elude me is the ability to not fold over on a squat. I have discouragingly long femurs that force me into a tabletop position, and it definitely affects my overhead catches

Why are olympic lifters doing heavy singles and doubles in the back squat? Seems like that is just asking for potential injury. I never did less than 3 in the back squat and 2 in the front squat,

I don't get the guys who just drop the bar in back of them at the end of the squat. Is it really that hard to just take a couple steps forward and rack it? Not to mention the extra work involved in taking the plates off once the bar has been dumped so that it can be reracked for the next set.
@timluisborck2009
@timluisborck2009 Жыл бұрын
So I am nowhere near squatting 200+kg and I do not know about you. But when they drop it, it was there last set and they are done. Also these are most of the time bumper plates and are made to be let dropped and are easily taken off. In addition to that, it is a really nice feeling to just drop it after a really heavy set and not walk the extra mile to the rack. :D

It's amazing how often I see people whining about how squats will destroy your knees and spine. Yes, squatting is hard, but not dangerous if you approach it intelligently. I've been squatting 2.5-3x bodyweight for 20+ years and wow, no knee or spine issues. In fact, it's the opposite, it's almost like resistance training can increase longevity. :)
@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252
@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252 Жыл бұрын
@@sandrost4243 Squatting with a weight belt where the weight hangs down your sides instead of pressing on your back is good. There is no reason to load your spine with immense weight or become a quadriplegic when you slip with the bar. You cannot and do not need to strengthen your spine or knees by loading them like that. If you luck out with your genetics, you can get away with self-abuse just like some people are alcoholics into their 70's.
@sandrost4243
@sandrost4243 Жыл бұрын
@@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252 I agree with belt squats (weight below your waist), they are an amazing option for people with back issues and as a supplemental movement. And if you are someone that feels squatting with high loads is dangerous, they are a great choice. I am saying squatting is not inherently dangerous when form and technique are good. That is the great thing about lifting, there are options for everyone depending on their goals and perceived risk. Cheers mate!
