Today I'm running what is arguably the best great league team of all time. It comes at no surprise since I'm using Bastiodon, Medicham and Sableye, all XL top meta Pokemon for the Great Leauge. They are some of the best Pokemon in the Great League Meta that you should be collecting in Pokemon GO!

Yeah I’d been stuck in the Ace rank more for seasons because I liked to try all the cups. But I just played 3 straight weeks of ultra league using the same team (Hax, Cress, Sylveon) so I got comfortable with matchups. Plus a bunch of people have been trying out Poliwrath and Greninja, so the timing of the meta worked out really well having a fairy back line

Hey man, I've been running this team most seasons since I saw your first video on it. Quick question, in that video I recall that you originally swapped out into Saybleye straight away if you saw an azu lead, I notice now you stay in with Bastiodon, is there a particular reason for the change in strategy?

I did this very team (spend some dust into power up a bastiodon) in 2800, 4 sets so far, 8 deoxys lead (which corebrokes basti and medicham), 5 medicham lead, and 1 gengar lead with focus blast. Droped 150 points. That's just insane on probabilities.

I ran this from 2150-2660 but with a shundo Sableye, the shadow made the Medi matchup way better and the power gem surprised some flyers

I use Trev as my Ghost for better Water coverage and less Charm weakness. Basti/Medi/Ghost (or pseudo-Ghost like Licki) is always effective.

Hahahaha I literally just build my XL bastiodon and was so happy to use it. So I immediately went in to the great league without changing moveset and even forgot to double move my basti 😂😂 #fail. But I love this team! 💛💛

I love the whole “this Pokémon counters this!!1” comments because it’s like… yes, that’s how a meta game works. If there was a team with zero counter play matchups, it would be a horribly unhealthy, over centralized meta. When people point out there are counters, it’s like saying “this is a meta game!” Which… yes… congratulations?

Yes mate it needs to be xl so you need to get your trainer level up to 40 first.

XL Bastiodon has insane bulk. Really makes it shine in neutral matchups but in unfavorable matchups can provide more farm for the opponent

Basti is so much more common now that we had the recent spawns for it. 😂 Medi is so busted right now with all the Basti and ABB teams trying to lure out Medi for Greninja. Scrafty eats those teams for lunch.

Can someone pelase explain to me: all these sites telling me to get low attack IV's and so I grind for them, and then here he uses high attack on bastidon? And max atk on medichamp wich my site tells me I should get 5 atk and max stats on the others? What is going on here?

These IVs are just bad, probably already built these pokemon before XL candy was released

Yeah he has had the medi and bastio since the early days before XL. Lvl 40 Medi with 15/15/15 is 1431 rank 1 and lvl 40 Bastio at 13/15/12 is like rank 29, 1498 cp (his bastio)

If you wanna use a team like this which costs lots of stardust you might consider to wait till you obtain the right IVs / XL candy’s so your investment gonna be worth it. The different breakpoints each Pokémon can obtain have to be considered as well because it can decide over winning or losing a specific matchup

XL is referring to XL candy, aka Pokemon above level 40. At one point level 40 was the max and pokemon with good IVs when 40 was the max, are not as good as the pokemon with good IVs at XL levels usually around 48-50

I like my IVs to be a bit attack weighted when I’m using popular meta Pokémon for exactly this reason, the mirror match is sooo common and it ends up being useful more often than high bulk IVs

In this scenario XL means a Pokemon above level 40 aka you need XL candy to power them up. And these pokes are very long/hard to power up. The GBL community has tons of players that have been playing for years or many cases since release of GBL. For new players good like. I'm a medium player and have a really good Sableye fully powered, Medi needs 56 more XL and a 15/15/15 Bastiodon I powered up before XL came out

@@donii7092 different letters means different types. A in this case is bastiodon. B being medicham and C is sableye where non of them share a type. ABB is where the two Pokemon in the back share a type and the lead being strong against the biggest threat to them
