There's always some weirdness with these. I'm pretty sure that the track playing around 18:09 is Mysterious Times by Sash! (I would hope properly licensed) - did these makers do any DDR clones, as that's clearly the intended aesthetic.

There can't be *that* many Tetris plug and plays to compare to, is there? While the graphics are fine and the mechanics yeah are pretty good, the sound... well, it's a letdown being so obviously MIDI-based. And pretty bleh MIDIs at that.

Officially, no. There's the awful Radica game with the twisty controls (partially emulated) and Radica's Family Tetris (not yet emulated) which is more comparable, but still not on the same level. Unofficially though many of the generic Plug and Play units contain implementations of Tetris, and none of them are all that great at all. If I include various other battery operated handhelds (which I tend to lump together when talking about Plug and Plays) there are many more (there are even officially licensed 'Brick Game' versions) MIDI is a very specific thing, I'd just say the music was sequenced, but I actually like it here, there are some jolly renditions of the classic theme alongside other tunes. I tend to prefer sequenced over low quality sample loops - I hate the audio on the later NeoGeo games for that reason, the earlier games sound so much cleaner and more alive. For the hardware they were working with I think they've done a really good job on the audio here and it's a step above most SunPlus based offerings.

Hopefully Mame 0.274 will have those Exa-Arcadia game emulated and ready to play and that Shinobi Neo- Geo version, please.

Exa-Arcadia is a modern PC based platform running Windows 10, MAME isn't going to be emulating those pretty much ever. Shinobi Neo-Geo is a homebrew, unless it starts getting sold commercially it won't be added, and even then it will be only be added once it's no longer being sold.
