You and martinbuilt were the first channels I found after buying my very own 2002 4.7L WJ. I can't express how invaluable your content has been.

My 3.7L is about 1,400 shy of hitting the big 180K, i think youve convinced me to do a quick tune up.

Hello Douglas! corrosion inside the fuel rail is solved by installing a fuel rail from the next body. it is made of stainless steel. this will definitely help the best system performance. greetings from Russia!

The factory spark plug part number is on the emissions sticker on the hood.

Excellent as always. Very entertaining and informative.

You basically nailed it; only other thing to do is inspect the ignition coil boots. If they even get a hairline crack they will jump the spark to the cylinder head rather than through the spark plug causing misfires. Also I'm curious to know if you ever figured out the problem with Ruby's HVAC system. You put a video out a couple months ago and said you were at your whits end...super interested to know what you found. Appreciate all the 4.7 content. Mine is rocking 245k and runs like a dream. Going on a 1,800+ mile road trip with it soon.

I thought iridium’s were oem on the HO model, part number on my 4.7 was for copper plugs

The seafoam can says to change the envying oil after 200 miles IIRC

Don't put dielctric grease in the ends of the coil boot, or into spark plug wire boots. Contrary to popular belief, dielectric does *not* mean it's conductive; quite the opposite, in fact. You want to put it where you *don't* want electricity going; on the ceramic insulator of the spark plug itself. You put it in the end of the boot, you're pushing it over the conductive terminal that is supposed to make electrical contact with the connector in the bottom of the boot, and now you've effectively insulated the connection of your coil to the spark plug. Also, less is more when it comes to the dielectric grease, just like with antisieze. Also, the main function of dielectric grease is to help seal *out* moisture and contaminants, while not creating additional conductive paths that would cause voltage leak. Hope that helps.

Try my 08 ram. 16 plugs and 2 different types. Still having a slightly rough idle at idle with no codes. Just a lighting bolt every once in a while. Goes away after i restart it.

Half a sea foam can in the engine oil and gasoline tank after every oil change? Also I have green coolant in my 4.7L is that fine or should I change it? I bought it used with 190k miles and his been putting green coolant in it ever since, at this point I’m wondering if I should just leave it in there or spend the $ and flush it with the orange stuff? I have leaks in my transmission and transfer case so what fluids do you guys recommend to refill with? Same thing with the front and rear diff?

Would you recommend running iridium plugs on the 4.0?

5winter30 or just 30 full synthetic. Motors are engineered with the specific weight of oil in mind; there's never a time to question what the manufacturer says.

Have a new to me 2004 with 4.7 ho. Did all the same steps for tune up and still have a random rough idle issue. Likes to drop to 350rpm with slightly rough idle. Heard someplace that bad battery cables can maybe cause. Or backed up pcv system. Any thoughts. Runs smooth as silk otherwise. New iac and tps .
@southwestvajeeper51064 күн бұрын
Mine does exact same thing. Low idle only when hot and with A/C off. Tap throttle before it drops and it won't idle low. I'm a mechanic and have access to great live data on scan tools...someday I'll track this problem down once and for all.
@southwestvajeeper51064 күн бұрын
Also mine often will run rough after highway driving and then shifting into park or neutral. Does yours do that too?
@matthewkrzesniak89323 күн бұрын
It's usually when it's warmed up . Ac it off. Not on highway much with it. If tap gas it returns to about 550 idle and smooths out. I seen there was a tbs to reflash ecm on 4.7s for a rough idle issue.

@@matthewkrzesniak8932 Not sure I've seen that TSB, but I did see one about carboned-up IAC valve. Just need to watch some live data on my scan tool and figure it out one of these days...a small enough problem it has been on the back burner for a long time lol
