Thanks Spiguyver for viewing Loco Libre Gear. I haven't heard of them until now. I have been looking for a sixty degree quilt to pear with my summer loadout gear for a while. My quit should be in in about seven weeks, late summer.

They are so well built! George is always coming out with something new, as a matter of fact, the ones that I just ordered from him are of a new design not even released yet! Thanks!
@donkEEpunch854 жыл бұрын
For real! I'm really surprised more people don't give them a shot. I think because early on, his quilts got a wrap for being "cold," people have held onto that belief. Although, I feel like he's really upped his numbers and now uses a better method for more loft, creating more warmth. I love my three quilts from him and am now expecting a fourth to arrive early next month. Can't wait!

Great to see someone giving George the shine he deserves. By far the best quilts out there! With the exception of my Warbonnet Diamondback 20 degree, all my quilts are Loco Libre. 50, 20 and 0 degree quilts. I have the Operator series Top and UQ with Moraccan blue fabric. Love that quilt set. I completely agree with how versatile that set is. I've used it into the low 40's and stayed warm with only my Z seat under my feet. Loco Libre is the best out there hands down.

Great review, thank you. I think a picture or two of the compressed/packed size would be a good addition in the future when you’re reviewing gear like this.

Thanks, I agree with you. Each of these will compress down to the size of a softball or a little smaller!

My warm weather set is a set of converted Costco Down throws that I bought from Hang Tight Gear (Steve Hazel). I got the TQ and UQ set from him a couple of years ago for about $110. This set gets me down to about 45 degrees and each quilt weights about 14-15 ounces. If anybody is looking for a budget option for summer quilts check them out.

Nice review. I love my Loco Libre Operator 50’ quilt set. It packs up very compact, which is my highest priority. It’s also very light. I also have a 20’F Operator topquilt, which I also love. I wouldn’t have said “cutting corners”, in the start of the description, but I think you described it all very well. Like you said it’s for good reasons. It’s deliberate choices, making trade-offs - it’s a compromise on one thing to maximise another more important based on its intended purpose (being light and compact). Less bells and whistles like draft collars. But less is more (cuts weight and bulk). The Operator series is intended to be the light weight, the minimum but functional, maybe a little less beginner friendly, but perfect if you take the time and care or have the experience. I think you covered it all nicely.
@SpiguyverBackpacking14 жыл бұрын
You make a great point, my wording could have been chosen better for sure. Less bells and whistles is a great way to put it. You are absolutely correct, there is nothing second rate about these at all! Thanks!

Spiguyver, how do these fit the new Banyan Bridge hammock?

Wow, I've never heard of them before. Just checking them out and their 20 degree quilt is the lightest I've never seen. The few reviews I could find are very good. Just a thought. how low do you think you could go if you paired up a set of 50's over (or under) a set of 20's? I only ask because you have a lot more experience. I only know that you can double up like that. I'm thinking that would probably cover me for every season.
@SpiguyverBackpacking14 жыл бұрын
It would buy you probably 10 degrees, but not a whole lot honesty. They are pretty thin, it's about the loft.

Nice quilts! I recently went to the Allegheny Reservoir and used a Mylar car sunshield between my Warbonnet layers instead of the Wooki under quilt, worked out great for a $7 alternative. Plus I used it as a sit pad on the wet ground cooking dinner and took a nap while laying on the beach.
@SpiguyverBackpacking14 жыл бұрын
Awesome, how was the condensation between you and the mylar? I have had success doing that, and other nights where I was soaked. But yeah, for $7 it's a good option! Thanks!

@@SpiguyverBackpacking1: Zero condensation, low humidity and not a drop of dew on the Mokai's in the morning either. I've also tried a $20 Costco sleeping pad with success, but much heavier than the sunshield. Nice trip with no mosquitoes, gnats or flies.

This is not the set I'll be using on the TRT, the lows will be in the 40's, and likely into the upper 30's, not what I want to experience with these. I have a new set of custom 30's coming!
