Always important to mention that although gzdoom was made as a doom source port, it's very much it's own engine. It's like game engine that happens to run doom. But yeah, the fact that this engine is being used for great games while allowing people to make money off of it is nothing short of amazing.

I pray for: 1. Selaco to totally rock and remind me of F.E.A.R. (yes, also in the horror aspects). 2. Captain Wayne to combine goofiness of Pizza Tower with gameplay of DOOM. 3. Brutal Fate to be more brutal than Brutal DOOM.

Actually, Selaco may have some tense atmosphere but from what I remember of the developers saying there won't be horror like F.E.A.R. has. I used to be a part of their discord

Thank you for this list. I'm elbow-deep in Doom modding, and taking apart every new game just gives me more to work with. Plus, it's just an engine that feels superb to play. The combat is so smooth and crispy.

Can't wait for Selaco, that game just... felt right somehow. I hoped that Trepang 2 would scratch that same itch, but after playing that I just found myself longing even more for Selaco to come out. 😉

I think Trepang might have been too much guns blazing at times where as I think Selaco will have that great mix of immersive ness, guns blazing and exploration or at least thats how I felt from the demo. Not to say that Trepang is a bad game I absolute love it but I understand how you feel :)

@@branojuraj9063 I loved Trepang 2 for what it was, but I do think the devs leaned too far into the FEAR influences. It made people expect something that it wasn't. Had it had more of an identity of it's own, it would probably have been rated higher. It looked like FEAR, sounded like FEAR... but didn't play anything like FEAR. That's a bit of a problem when it comes to marketing a game. 😉

@@Cimlite Yeah I agree, they did make it look like it was going to be a spiritual successor to fear sometimes and especially when reading the comments etc of their trailers. But I saw the devs multiple times saying it was not going to be like fear, but problem is that the devs had to go out and say that multiple times on discord for example far from everyone reads things like that, and the fact that they have to go out and say that it is not like fear means something went wrong in the marketing somewhere.

Fun fact, Disdain originally started as the developer, Nash Muhandes trying to challenge himself to make a functional game from scratch in a week. Also it's the same Nash who made NashGore Doom mod, thus explaining why the gore is so good.

Aye it truly is :) No source, the music used is some copyright free instrumental metal, id love to tell you the name but I had complaints on it so got rid of the tracks I had lol. But got plenty more even better sounding metal ready for future videos ;)

Maybe I'm just seeing things, but Relentless Frontier looks a LOT like an old Doom Mod called Interstellar Enforcer. It's got a similar premise, similar weapons, and the environments look EXTREMELY similar to some of the ones from Interstellar Enforcer. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, that mod has been on hiatus for years now, I'm just pumped to see that we may get something similar to it.

Ännu en magisk video med en solklar like! Du fattar inte hur glad jag blev när jag fick höra att Mark Sargeant håller på med ett nytt spel! Brutal DOOM och Wolfenstein är två av mina absoluta favvo-spel genom alla tider, och inte bara bland GZDoom utan bland mina absoluta favoriter totalt sett. Perfekta spel att lira när man vill tömma tankarna och bara ha jävligt kul en stund. Tankarna far tillbaka till när man lirade DOOM hela natten med kompisarna när man var lite för ung sådär på tidigt 2000-tal :D DOOM FÖR ALLTID

"Selaco" makes a spectacular impression. Not that i am going to play it, cause shooting generic rent-a-cops in riot gear got boring to me since day one...but the quality of levels in that project!! Damn, i can only take my hat off and applaud, standing up. This is not something you get to see every day. Magnificent work, team! Bravo!!

@@ZlimBratSki Well, unless they change the theme to some kind of alien invasion or bio-mutant apocalypse or something. But that seems pretty much impossible, for a variety of reasons. For starters, the constant allusions to F.E.A.R. - which was exactly that, only with bullet time. "Syndicate" a title from 2012 - tried very hard to squeeze everything possible from this uninspired concept by adding every conceivable carrot and candy in the genre (and then tripling it) - to sweeten the idea of shooting the artistically-void rent-a-cops in riot gear and make it somehow attractive. Starbreeze Studios, the veteran creative genius responsible for this commendable ultra-effort, tried really really hard. There is nothing they didn't do. And they have done well. However, they also indicated that such concept can go no further. When it takes a mountain of sugar to glaze a cockroach into a tootsie pop, you know that this is the end. The epitaph. At least, that's the way i see it. Though apparently, the majority of FPS makers are of similar opinion. They try to put creatively designed enemies at the core and build further upon that.

I have completed the Seleco demo a few times and I really love the art style, the movement, the music etc. Cannot wait to play the full version in 32 years. The only thing I would say that is not praise, just to be nitpicky is that the weapons could be a little punchier and have a little more feedback but if it released as is i would still love it.

Selaco, Brutal Fate, The Citadel 2 - these are the boomer shooters I'm waiting for. Selaco is fully sci-fi BFPS, with AI that somewhat similar to F.E.A.R., but only partially. There are also cool futuristic arsenal to use. Brutal Fate has a cool combination of HL, Aliens and Doom settings, mech controls, cool weapons and its designs. The Citadel 2 is a dark-cyberpunk anime-based BFPS, where player will be able to wear up to 5 environmental suits, including 2 types of mechs, if I'm correct. Therre also will be an arsenal update as well.

I have a hard time seeing how a game made in the GZDoom engine can be a straight rip off of doom eternal, and I think you mean The age of hell and I can tell you it plays nothing like Doom Eternal :) Selaco tho is amazing I agree!

Selaco uses a modified gzdoom engine . So , different like as an example NECROMANCy or BEYOND SUNSET ,it won't run on normal gzdoom port / Delta touch

Yes they do, but you will most likely run into errors trying to run them on android :)

Zlim, don't blaspheme..."Hands of Necromancy" is as close to being "Hexen III" as a tuna fish is to winning a basketball game against Lebron. (although i will say, HoN is still better than Hexen I). While "Hexen III" is highly unlikely to happen in any form, but the closest thing you get to that - is "Faithless Trilogy" mod. It is THE next level of Hexen experience, (even though it is made for Heretic). Competently designed, crafted and polished, it is clearly made by people who understand very well how this works, in every respect. I have always praised that game since my discovery of it, cause it really is gold standard. Then again, i am preparing my own rival for the throne, hehe🤪😎. In 4 weeks time...

Pretty sure Selaco isnt made in GZDoom because as per the engine's use license state that all modifications and alterations to the engine are to be publicly released back into the GZDoom source code project. And since no such source has been publicly released, its not made in GZDoom.

what i dont like about hellsinger is the main character design, realms of necromancer nailed the metroidvania part but combat felt weak, they should focus on that.

To be honest im starting to be a little bored of gzdoom games. A lot of them are just to similiar to each other. I didnt played Selaco (but of course heard many times about it) is a great example that it can be something different than just another doom clone. But in this video you showed few that got my interest: Disdain for example looks very nice. My top 3 from that list is Brutal Fate, Selaca and Disdain. Thanks for another great video 👍

Yes, Disdain is definitely my favourite from this list. After Ion Fury, Prodeus and Ashes 2063 I feel also little fed up of GZDoom mods.

but every GZDoom game on his list features different weapons and enemies made from the ground up, different textures and level design, and varying movement mechanics. they're far from the old days of being just reskinned doom total conversions. even some like Shrine 1 might at first look like a reskin but then really does take off on its own path the more you play. let alone say Project Absentia where you're jumping high and gliding through the air while laying down a barrage of rockets in quite a satisfying and different from doom 2 way. all I'm saying is given them another chance. they're awesome and filled with their own uniqueness.

Beyond suset looks good but when you play it you find out it's like the worst parts of DooM Eternal - braindead arena combat, no ammo, unavoidable attacks that you have to regenereate by constantly abusing cooldown abilities... Hopefully they improve the gameplay a lot.

@@ZlimBratSki It has a fatal flaw and that is unavoidable damage. That alone is annoying since it diminishes player skill, but it also enforces other mechanics to compensate. Since you are being damaged all the time, you have to recover health and there is a single method to recover health which is using the katana charged slash. That makes the iron core of the game loop which inherently forces player to singular playstyle (aggressive attacking so you can use the katana slash as soon and as often as possible) and very limited scenarios (you always need enemies at melee range to use the skill on etc.) that you can employ in the game. Everything else - other weapons, hacking, talking, platforming etc is always reduced to filler between combat encounters that are just the same scenario repeated ad absurdum. It started as if it may be more varied and deeper than that, but even the demo very soon degraded to just combat arenas. I hope the author will be able to do more with it in the end, but the demo didn't showed that it is possible to do something else with the system in place.

Agenda's are pushed by left leaning companies through things like Sweet Baby inc. etc to try and force us to accept new wave feminism and force inclusivity. In the process they deal out a good dose of white male guilt to try and make us squirm. Developers like many from the boomer shooter group might in fact not be payed or "advised" by investors to push for feminine protagonist. The choice might really be their own.
