You should be wearing a body harness to clip into that order picker. A fall from that height would not feel too good lol

Great video. Might want to look into having that lift serviced. New hydraulic oil, filter and an adjustment to pump gpm would really smooth it out!

I would also suggest a harness. I drive a picker while at work, and we require a harness. I would hate to see one of the guys slip off from 15ft up.

Whenever my mom would finish a big project she would sit and stare at it for a while. We always called it "Praisin' over the (project)". She still laughs about it and still does it every time. John waving and saying hello to the corner reminded me of my mom "praisin' over" her many projects. We need to celebrate things that make us happy. Don't let anyone tell you you can't. It looks great, John! I'm a new woodworker and I did the same thing when I made my first very very simple bench and wood burnt a design into it.

To prevent the sway, you could try making the anchor points wider/larger than the lamps. the chains should go outward from the lamps, that will create tension.

Talking light variation, people always look at me strange when I take 10 photo's in a group outside. Although when I take the photos there appears to be no change in light outside, when I come inside and look at the images on the computer you can see minor changes in the image despite the photos being taken fractions of a second apart. One photo always stands out as a better image. Light is always changing outside, between the movement of the sun, clouds and any other variables it changes.

Looking good! At my old shop, I went from 2 extremely old fluorescents (that would flicker in the winter time) to 8 LED fixtures and it was AMAZING. Like you said, its easier to see fine details and mistakes in proper lighting. I'm looking forward to doing the lighting in my new garage where there's a single "boob" light for the whole thing.

Something else you could've done is, talked to your power company about grants that are going around, allowing big enough places to swap their florescent bulbs with LED bulbs using the same fixture. This is done by cutting the ballast out and directly wiring the feeds to the tombstones, allowing you to just swap the old bulbs with LED ones. Our shop just got it and it's 150% better.

Not sure if you've used one or know of one, but 3M makes a light called a "Sun Gun". Used typically for paint finishing in automotive applications but it's perfect for seeing swirl marks, imperfections, etc in your finish- paint, poly or epoxy.

Even though it is true that the intensity from one light halfs when you double the distance. Since you want even lighting in your shop it doesn't really matter. The light from one lamp gets just spread over a bigger area. As long as you install enough lights you have more even lighting than if you would have lowered the lights which would had made it more spotty.

Weirdly, your shop looks like the mythbusters shop at the beginning of the video. Also, LED lightning is not a guarantee of better performance vs fluorescent lighting. With electronic ballasts and good quality fluorescent tubes, you get a much better CRI at a much lower price. Many LED products are built with very cheap and dubious supporting hardware (small, improperly connected or absent heatsink, capacitors, bad or no soldering where required) and these components will fail within months or a couple years, because LED lights run HOT. I'm considering to revert to fluorescent fixtures for the workshop and halogen for the rest of the apartment after too many LED bulbs failing after a couple months.

Where's your fall arrest harness? Pickers are notorious for people falling off of them and 15 feet can easily be a lethal fall. You don't even have a railing on half of it is why. Get a couple of 5 point harnesses and fall arresting lanyards before somebody has a really bad day. Also, if you fall and you didn't have a harness on, your workplace insurance is not going to pay out for medical bills while the business could face very large fines from OSHA and the state equivalent of OSHA. I'm not being safety crazy, I just don't want one of you to get seriously hurt. Might also want to consider having anybody below you within 10 feet of the lift to wear a hard hat so if you drop a tool it is less likely to hurt them. I would go with the free method and just stay 10+ feet way from the lift when it is in the air.

Anyhow the way this works company sends tools and materials let's say at value of $10 000 plus springs in another $20 000 for guys to say nice things about their products in other words will sponsor this video. It s win win situation here.Lads in video get pay something and for company to spend 30 grand is nothing on 1 video where 100-200 000 people will eventually see this and potentially buy their products so they get money back plus some fat profits presuming product is actually good 👍 😀

Why would you not just use the lights that are pre-wired with a plug? Each light has a female plug also so you can plug them end to end if you wanted. One strip is 5,000 lumens and cost about $25. I put up 9 of these in my shop in about 20 minutes. Also, light drops off at -Rsquared ... not double and half.
