Josh is so right about the value of chasing discomfort/adversity/fear, the value os silence, and I agree about curls. The best thing about Josh's videos is that it is all about the WORK.

How many fitness guys, even today don't understand the single concept of resting ADEQUATELY between sets. There's 0 reason and I mean 0 reason to do another set if your breathing isn't controlled and your heart rate isn't down. If you can't say a complete sentence without taking a deep breath/being breathless YOU NEED TO REST LONGER. You can get substantially more reps in at the same weight on your next set if you just REST BETWEEN SETS. If you go to failure everytime the intensity is already there so the absolute BS excuse "to keep the intensity up" is null and void.(looking at you Jay Cutler!!!). In fact, your robbing yourself of intensity during the next set by working out like that. With your second set during any lifting exersize, you want to failure muscurlarly, you don't want respiratory or a jacked up heart rate to be your failure key point. Those who argue this are brainless lol P. S. Don't came at me with the "but do you have a Mr Olympia?! I don't think so!" BS. Just cause someone's a Profesional doesn't mean they don't have mistakes in there regular routine.

I appreciate the advice Brother. I am one that has always been in the less rest camp until a few weeks ago actually, and JFC the difference is amazing. I know it’s common sense, but for whatever reason the “bro science” always snuck in. I agree with your assessment! Thank you!

Hey guys, just a warning. I've been working out for 40 plus years. Have a degree and exercise signs and I've been a trainer since I was 18 years old. I had no idea about this One little thing that may save someone's life down the road. If you notice when he's bench pressing, he's not breathing until he gets to the complete top of his set. That's when You can see him Exhale completely. Now I may be mistaken, but from what it appears he's not breathing out until that last push at the top. The problem with that is you're creating a lot of thoracic pressure inside your chest. That can cause an Aortic aneurysm or cause an existing one to dissect or rupture. This is something I was never taught in college. This is something I was never taught by my bodybuilding friends. Aortic aneurysm deaths are not new but the causes and preventions are very new. Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who may not know it.... .And no, I'm not hating I actually like his videos. He's actually turned me on to a couple CrossFit things I would have never done. He is also a very humble dude when it comes to giving advice. Stay strong people 💪

TLDR: Breathe throughout the bench press (and all exercises). Don't hold your breath. In general, breathe out while pushing/pulling and inhale on the negative portion of the rep. Am I right?
