You can skip all that and just fill the tub by putting the hose in the filter housing...that pushes all the air out of the pipes during filling, and prevents air locks.

@jonathanmeazza427 Жыл бұрын
@@jackle842000 took about 1 hour to empty 1500 litres. Using a couple of hoses and a 3rd connected to the drain point at the bottom.

If you are trying to get air locks out of your hot tub, best method we have discovered is using a brand new toilet plunger. Take the filter out, then plunge away in the hole that sits under the filter. Works like magic!

I use a shop vac hose. Submerge it completely in the water and cover one end with my palm and lower it to the ground and let go. Empties it real quick.

thanks helped a ton. Have to clean out my tub, my dogs got into it to cool off when it wasnt being a .... hot.. tub lol.
@bugnutsrunnels4 жыл бұрын
Or, since you drain & fill the tub on a regular basis, buy a sump-pump and a 2" hose so you can drain the tub in less than 10 minutes. A shop-Vac will take care of the line water, so you can have the tub drained and filled in less than 2 hours.

Yeah I was gonna say the pumps are super cheap and drain the tub in like 15 minutes.

When you Fill out up... put the house in the filter housing. This pre-fills all the lines so now there's no airlock. NEVER JUST FILL DIRECTLY INTO THE THE TUB & this won't be an issue.

If you get freezing temperatures, you need to make sure that you drain the system completely including the equipment otherwise your bust the hoses

I'll do ya one better. I made a wand out of PVC pipe, about 4 ft long, cut a diagonal on the end so it sits in the tub at 45 degrees, almost flush with the bottom foot well. On the top end I put a PVC barbed fitting then installed 1.25" sump pump hose. I prime it the same way you do here in the video, but the larger pipe drains the 400 gallons in about 15 minutes. No electric pump needed once the prime is started and I barely have time to hose out the filters before the tub itself is empty. Not perfect and you need to be 100% empty at the end of a season (frost issues) but gets 98% of the water for a quick change as necessary on a maintenance basis. Refill takes maybe 90 minutes with the garden hose, so overall less that 2 hours.

And better than that is a submersible pump with an extension cord. Drained in 10 minutes flat

Why would u drain the hot tub plug? That dumps water all over the base of the tub, and erodes the stone base of your hot tub. It will be lopsided in no time
@runningriot63994 жыл бұрын
You hook a hose up to it first before draining.
@addammadd3 жыл бұрын
Pull the standpipe, put your hose into it and block it up with a rag, you’ll prime it just fine, no bubbles, and the whole “15 minutes extra work” doesn’t happen. For folks who drain for the summer, letting water sit in the pumps getting septic for 7 months isn’t a great option.

Part of the idea of doing a water change is to get rid of majority of the dirty water and bacteria. This method leaves more water in the plumbing and would just dilute and redistribute dirty/old water.

I honestly can’t think of a worse way to clean a tub. The bacteria, biofilm and risk of legionella from the pipe work is definitely still in there, l you want to be turning the hot tub off completely to drain the hot tub avoiding trying to work the heater and pump while it is dry. It must take ages. Hot tubs last years and years, a submersible pump is cheap as chips considering the amount of times you will use it, it will save you loads of time and that time spent can be used to make sure the hot tub is healthy for you and your family to get in. I see so many people still risking it. Ok you might be fine, but it only takes one time for it to seriously impact on your life.
@MikePailliotet3 жыл бұрын
so we can only trust them sanitizing chemicals to work as we're draining the tub? How silly. It's only my wife and I and we always shower before getting in. With the Frog chemical system the water stays clear and fresh with very little to no need for pH adjustment
