not really -- i've lied about my experience & i kinda forced myself to learn sales on the fly before meetings & then have closed deals. have had 3 so far, generating $5K worth of commissions. you can lie about your experience, but if you do so... you need to have absolutely iron-clad belief that Sales is for you. if the belief isn't there, you'll never try to get better once you get a job.
