Thank you, I am new to making body butters but now am gonna try your lotion recipe, thanks for listing substitutions bc it’s all so confusing sometimes on what you can and can’t use. I have BTMS 50, glycerin, capryl glucossidr, IPM, and 60% sodium lactate, beeswax, and another wax I forgot what it’s called but starts with a C. Anyways I have mostly all the oils and butters but I’m gonna substitute a different butter in place of the cocoa butter bc every time I make a body butter with it , it turns out grainy , took me a few times to figure out what was causing it lol. Can’t wait to make this!!

Looks so creamy. I would like to try it but every time I try something new I have to buy another ingredient, and left with so many different chemicals. Goat milk body butter typically melts at around 90-100°F (32-38°C). If left in a hot car or direct sunlight, it is likely to melt and may become liquid. To maintain its consistency, it's best to store the body butter in a cool, dry place.

Gorgeous thick lotion! ❤ I want to make it after work some night this week! I have a question...when I use stearic acid in my lotions, it usually separates. Because stearic acid has such a disproportionately high melting point, I am always worried that it will cause the butters to go grainy, so I melt it separately. Is this why the stearic acid separates back out? Any input or advice you can offer would be deeply appreciated! Thank you for the wonderful video! ❤

I have Pure Sorbitol Powder, can you use this ? it's used as a thickener ?

If you prefer, glycerine can be used as an alternative to sorbitol. If your goal is to achieve a thicker product, you might want to explore the incorporation of thickeners such as xanthan gum or guar gum, as they are better suited to attaining the desired texture and consistency. Sorbitol and glycerine primarily function as moisturizing agents. It is advisable to experiment to discover the perfect balance for you.

Very helpful Iwant to do like this but breastmilm lotion to my baby but the recipe should bee in fridge . If i have 60 ml milk 60ml almond liquid oil what shoud i add 5 grm beeswax or 5 grm olivem 1000 ? Or ican replace bee wax in butter?

Since you want to keep it in the fridge, using an emulsifier like beeswax or olivem 1000 is essential to prevent separation. For your recipe with 60ml breastmilk and 60ml almond liquid oil, using 5 grams of either beeswax or olivem 1000 should work well. Both are effective emulsifiers, but olivem 1000 might give you a slightly lighter texture compared to beeswax. If you prefer a buttery consistency, you could try replacing beeswax with shea or cocoa butter, but keep in mind that these may require a different ratio or additional emulsifiers to ensure stability. Experimenting with small batches can help you find the perfect balance of ingredients for your desired texture and shelf life. Remember to sterilize your equipment and containers thoroughly before making the lotion. Happy crafting!

The shelf life is approximately 6 months to 1 year, possibly longer as it contains a preservative. However, factors like storage conditions (keeping it in a cool, dry place) and cleanliness during the preparation process can also impact the shelf life. It's essential to monitor the lotion for any signs of spoilage, such as changes in odour, colour, or texture, and discontinue use if you notice any adverse changes. I am still using this cream at the moment and have to say it is one of favourites.

If you choose to leave out sorbitol without substituting it, your cream may not retain moisture as effectively, which can lead to a drier texture. The cream will still emulsify and blend well, but the moisturizing properties will be somewhat reduced. Substitutes for Sorbitol: Glycerine, Propylene Glycol or Honey Without a humectant, the cream might feel less hydrating on the skin. This can be important if you're making the cream for dry skin.
