I have a 2004 TJ Rubicon that I bought new, they are probably the last of the truly owner maintainable jeeps. Elegant simplicity and very durable.

You are spot on about the TJ being modern yet old school. I own a stock TJ Rubicon and new Wrangler JL, and I think I love my TJ a bit more (except all the money I’m dumping into it to restore it). Jeep needs to build a modern TJ wrangler and make it affordable. I’m talking TJ dimensions but updated with newer tech (but not to the degree the JL has been). I guess that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but some Jeep owners will get what I’m trying to say.

No electronic nannies, no over priced ‘ convenience packages’ that offer crap like power ashtrays and heated sun visors for $6000, no automatic transmission. Just an off road ready truck. If Jeep would offer a slightly updated version of that Wrangler today for around 35k, I would buy one tomorrow. Instead, we have dealer lots full of $70,000 overweight, overblown mall crawlers designed for nobody.

I laugh how many times he keep pointing out it’s a two door there’s no such thing as a four-door TJ the closest you’ll get to that is a TJU or an LJ which is if you didn’t know but Stella two-door just longer

I bought a brand new 98 TJ Sport w/full doors and soft top, 5 psd man. $19k. It was a fun Jeep but it was a miserable bastard lol. All kinds of electrical issues from 1k miles and beyond. I’d never own another Jeep of those days, Fiat of today.

I owned a 2006 TJ Rubicon Unlimited for a few years and loved it! Mine had the 6 speed manual transmission, a 4" lift and 33" wheels.Unfortunately, I had left-knee replacement surgery in Feb 2021 and subsequently found it very laborious to shift gears in the following months, post surgery. I sold it, the following July. It was a lot of fun though.

The memories! I had a 97 4 banger and an 06 inline 6 cylinder. The sway bar links had to be changed at every oil change but other than that…..they were bulletproof!

I own a 2003 Sahara and I have had it for 5 years so far (5th or 6th owner) with only 136k miles and I still love it as much as I did when I drove to go get it.

I'll take the wrangler that's before the TJ the ones from the 70s I believe those you could get in a V8 I could be wrong but the Wranglers from the 70s I'll take over any other Wrangler in my opinion.

Nuh uh digital gage cluster wins every time easy to see the speed and is easy to see if you are at 21 or 24 compared to analog in analog it's only easy to see 10, 20 and 30 dso on
