Truly Criminal

4 ай бұрын

One warm spring evening, in March 2009, 8 year old Sandra Cantu skipped out of her house to go and play with her friends before dinner. But several hours later when it was time to eat, Sandra was nowhere… and within a day over 200 officers would be looking for her. What had happened to her, would leave her small community shattered and sickened.

Oh i know that seriously pissed me off so bad!!! That was just the absolute epitome of rude!!! 😤 It's like the judge did that simply for the mere fact that she legally COULD. She couldn't get off her high horse, not even for just a few minutes while a father was trying his very best to not completely break down while giving his victim impact statement 🤷🏼‍♀️😢🤦🏼‍♀️!!! Nothing disgusts me or pisses me off more than when a person in a position of power be it a judge, a cop or whoever, takes advantage of that power &/or abuses that power. And also, just for the record, i have given a couple of my own victim statements, and i have been in the courtroom and have listened to others give their own. This is literally the 1 & only time where I have heard a judge instruct/insist that the person reading their victim statement address THEM--the JUDGE--rather than the person who committed the crime & therefore...as a result... turned the victim's whole entire life upside down.

How dare that judge tell that father to address his impact statement to her not the murderer. Victim impact statements are for the family to express their grief and anger about the murderers actions. Even if he said " I hope you rot in prison or get beaten to death like Jeffrey Dahmer did." He should be allowed that. Don't take that from him. He didn't try to attack this monster in court he was just talking.

I can’t understand how the killer don’t think at all abouth how many years they will stay in jail so many years. So many get killed in jail all the the time. And so many get so angry when the police put them in jail. They scream so much men the police put them in jail. Please excuse me grammer and spelling. I speak and write in Norwegian all the time. Its the lack of accountability that makes me maddest. She killed an innocent child who trusted her, and did unspeakable things. The evidence doesn't lie. At least do the decent thing and own up to it. And that she continues to play the victim after she's arrested, craving attention and injuring herself. Life in prison is the right call. She can rot for the rest of her life, thinking about the one she took and the lives she ruined. Poor little Sandra deserved so much more. Its clear how much her family adored her, and how impacted they were by her murder. That she was about to go inside - literally steps from the safety of her home. Rest well, little one.
@kirsteng56
@kirsteng56 4 ай бұрын
What makes me maddest is her not having to have the other charges (the SA, the drugging of Sandra AND the other girl AND her ex-boyfriend) officially tacked to her name for the rest of eternity. And then for her to say that Sandra didn't suffer. Definitely didn't take accountability at all!! "I know God has forgiven me"--pft, maybe, if that's your thing, but your apology in court in front of the victim's FAMILY and friends and community is NOT the place to say that out loud! My jaw dropped when I heard her say that!

The reason they do it is two fold. It puts the parents and families of the victims through further hell to go to trial. If you can ever spare the loved ones of a victim going through a trial, that is a win. The other reason is financial. Judges and attorneys are insanely expensive. It costs the taxpayers a lot to go to trial for a major case like this. The important thing is that she was sentenced for life and can never hurt another child. Prayers for this little girl and her poor family. What a tragedy.

What if she hadn't been beautiful? It sickens me that in any video about the murder of a child or a woman, there's always some freak in the comments who wants to comment on the victim's appearance, as though to say that someone who is not good-looking would be a less sad victim. And when the "beautiful" comment is about a child, that's a whole different kind of sick. You sat there and watched a video about the MURDER of a child, and your takeaway is about her physical appearance. So so sick.

Not quite sure what you mean by God humans, but people like this aren't about God, at all. They use God, to hide despicable acts. The Bible has something in it, about these people. This is from the translation of Aramaic, the language actually spoken: 1And he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come. But woe to him through whom they come! 2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones. Will that woman be forgiven? It's not for me to say, but I know, for me, if Jesus says, that the punishment is even worse than the above, it makes shivers go down my back, God Bless you, and your loved ones.

Why would a parent have a small child outside for hours without being checked on. That's crazy and in a trailer park where I'm sure there are a scary amount of offenders. A damn shame

@@Chloe299XxX My parents were horrible people, they would still look out the window to see if I was still there. Tbh I hate kids, so I can't understand the bond a normal person would have with their child, but damn...I wouldn't leave my dog outside by herself for more than 10 mins without checking. As a parent you have responsibilities. May not have saved the little girl, but that is one of the reasons why people watch their kids.

@savian_is_spooked you're right. But my own grandparents were quite abusive and wouldn't have had a clue if my dad vanished into thin air. Some people it takes seconds. Like you blink and happens. And I'm sure she has lived every day wishing she looked more. So... again not very helpful sitting behind a screen acting like it would never happen you. Because reality is.. it could

@Chloe299XxX I never said she didn't regret it, nor is she a bad parent. I'm just saying, when you live in a bad area, then you have a responsibility to take more care. I very well could have been grabbed as a kid. In fact, I almost was, police were called when a dude followed me for hours. To a certain extent, it is on the parents. Did the kid deserve what happened? Of course not, the parents didn't deserve it either. I grew up in a bad area where bad things happened, this isn't me just being a 'tough guy behind a screen'. This is me saying you need to protect your kids or bad things can and or will happen.

This is beyond disturbing. How damage does a mind or soul, has to be, to do such things? A female and mother... able to torture a innocent child sexually? I just can't comprehend. 🙏

high chance she suffered sexual abuse as a child. Doesn’t excuse what she did in any way but this was a very damaged individual

This crime broke my heart when it happened. My daughter was also 8 and we also lived in a mobile home community at the time. My daughter looked so much like Sandra on the surveillance cam, skipping along without a care in the world. It could have been her. RIP sweetheart.

This is such a very sad story and to think of how Sandra was SA’D and killed is beyond approachable!! She was a beautiful little girl and her beauty will never be forgotten among the community. Melissa should definitely 💯 remain in prison for life for what she did. I’m so sorry for her family,her father and mother 👩🏻 and friends who loved 🥰 her dearly. Thanks for sharing ❤💜😭🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🇺🇸🪦RIP Sandra. 41:39

Horrifying case i remember this. I mean yeah they appear "remorseful" in court but i no longer care how something looks..the aesthetics have no value to me anymore. That's theatrics and acting. Thing is a truly remorseful person would never do that to begin with, and since they had a history of the xanax./drug thing on other children, other attempts... Nope...she is evil and dangerous and can't ever be released.

Must be very nice to tell people that you've hurt, that _you_ know in your heart, that they have forgiven you. That level of delusion cannot be understated.

A. I have never been so sickened by a case or a human being. Poor little Sandra deserved to lead a full and happy life. I sincerely hope her parents and siblings can gain some peace over time. B. Speaking as a 26-year-old…. that’s a rough looking 28.

@Truly Criminal another superb video. Im so mad at the outcome but you delivered Sandra's story so well that I feel like we all knew her and I felt the pain of Maria's loss. 💔 You're almost at 1 million followers and its so well deserved. You're the channel I've always come to for professional, factual and respectful content. I wont be surprised when Truly Criminal gets its own spot on national TV ❤

It’s crazy to think that at that age I was also out and about in different neighborhoods playing with friends into the night. It kind of chills me that at any moment I could’ve been nabbed up by some sicko with sinister intentions. I didn’t know I, along with other kids in my neighborhood, were playing with danger.
