If your going to have bear rug made, take it to Adam at Elusive Creatures Taxidermy in Post Falls, Idaho. He does the best work on bear out of anyone in thos area. You won't be dissapointed.

I am so excited to get to hunt and eat berry bear, will take a couple more years unfortunately, so these video's keep me going in the meantime. (edit) Oh by the way, there is a possibility to eat medium/medium rare bear steak without any risk of trichonosis, you just need to sous vide it for a good while (they updated the required temperature for this, but I can't remember so look that up). Apparently it is absolutely incredible.

great shot, nice video. My 300 WinMag has been good to me for over 40 years now. That death moan of a bear.... simply rips my heart & soul apart. But hunters we are, it's part of it, the feeling of remorse. You will realize, as I now do, that the older you get (60+) and the more game you kill (me: 60+ big game animals), impacts your internal remorse & spirit. Yet I still keep on hunting....and filling my freezers.

I have yet to hunt in my life, but want to do so to learn a necessary set of survival skills. In the future, I will begin my ventures into hunting, but the part that I hate the most is the taking of a life, and God forbid not getting a quick, clean kill. Any suffering is utterly soul crushing for me. I believe I will be one who is like a native american when hunting and taking the animal. Like a spiritual communication to and with the animal and earth before the shot, then again after, sitting with the emotions, feelings and reality in silence, then finally heading down and taking more time to spiritually communicate to/with the spirit of the animal again. A intense, weird mix of appreciation, gratitude, love, compassion, hurt, sadness and a certain heaviness... Perhaps even a little darkness. It'd be really annoying I think to anyone I'd hunt with, but I'd need it to get through it and process everything I've done and that happened, to the point I can finally get going with the processing and carrying out of the animal. I'm sure also wacky and weird to them. But it genuinely will be necessary for me to do to handle it all. That "death moan" as they called it... The cries of agony really... That absolutely hurt my heart and soul and man did it ever further drive the point home of exactly what I mean with what I've said here. Hell, if that was me, I'd probably bawl right there and then. This is why I'd much rather have someone do the butchering of my animals for meat if and when I have and grow my homestead in the future (a goal I have). I'll let someone else do the brutal part. Departcompartmentalize the whole experience.
