3 pumps! You need 3 hydraulic pumps for a tractor/air seeder setup. One pump for steering, one pump for the implement, and finally one pump for the cart fan. Otherwise you'll run into issues.

Guys, I am 57 years old, our family owns a grain elevator in Missouri... I am 3rd generation. I lost my dad when he was 59 years old... we were always close, but never got to "team up" on projects the way you folks do. He was the brains behind the operation, I was the fix it guy. He died in Oct of 1996. Scott, to watch you and your dad team up on this project, and to truly enjoy your time together doing it, just makes my heart swell up... I can not put into words what I am feeling right now! After all these years, I still miss him, I love him, and I thank him for being the example of a man that he was. Your family is just one fine example of what God intended the family unit should look like. Thank you... for sharing your stories with all of us. For me, it means so very much! God Bless you guys!

So I'm here now taking care of my parents and my dad is one stubborn son of à gun . The reason why I said I need your comment is because sometimes I get frustrated with them and I know I shouldn't. Are the fan motors on your air seeder piston or gear motors. If they are piston you should put a filter on the high pressure side . I put 2 seperate gear pumps on my 976 last spring and my engineer said if you dont, the piston motor on the fan will wear out in a couple of years if not he guaranteed it would cause them to fail. I put a pump for each fan. On another topic it is sure nice to see 3 generations all working together. Im 60 years old and my Dad passed away in jan this year. He was 91 ran a combine up untill 2 years ago. He came out every day that we were working and was eager to run for parts or what ever he could do to help. He also drove around untill 3 days before he passed away. My grandson is the 6th generation. Keep the good videos coming.

I laugh any time I see a Cummins conversion. I installed a 93 12 valve in a Ford back in the winter of 99. The only part that was available was the transmission adapter. Everything else was fabricated in our shop. Another thing is we have been running a 1979 IH 4300 with a KTA 525 since 1985. So I know the engine from the inside out. The only tractor I have operated with old school horse power. Was a D7 Cat with a 3406 that we installed. It was the best tractor I every opertated. I am down here in Oregon where the fields are steep. And you guys should have met Bob. Every hydraulic conversion he ever did included valves on the hydraulic tank. So if you had a leak or needed some kind of repair you would not lose my hydraulic oil.

Great video! Love the family working together!! Just a tip. Put some grease/never seize on the shaft of the hydraulic pump before you put it into the PTO. That’s an “open” area since it has a weep hole in the bottom. Heats up with use then cools off at night sucking moisture in. Can rust as the shaft/coupler wear.

Great work on the bud guys. You never fail to impress. Nice to see taking the kids go for a spin. Anymore, kids today are raised in a bubble. Drives me nuts. Many years ago we use to load about 8 of my classmates into 1 of those old pickup bed liners and take them for a spin in the field. Hours of fun trying to dump them all out. Dad would just shake his head and laugh. We had about a 400 foot hill at about 35 degrees. That bed liner would scream down that hill. Even dad got in on that action. Lol

Bob, Scott had you running a lot of those dad jokes, you held up though, that was pretty funny. I don't know if you have a tractor supply, or similar type store close to you, but what work's really well for oily spills, are pig mats, they are super absorbent, and make clean up easy. They work well for taking apart motors and transmissions without the mess. G-d bless.

Thanks for another great video Welkers. It was interesting and enjoyable. Wow. Scott you have done a great job with that extra hydraulic pump addition to the transmission. You had Bob helping for that extra set of hands. I must admit it was a little more complicated than I first thought. You had to do quite a bit to get it all together and operating. Wow. Great job and now you should have the hydraulic system you want for raising and lowering equipment you have hooked into the big bud. Assume you will demonstrate how it works in the next video since this one timed out. Nice work Welkers!!!! Was an interesting setup. Thanks for sharing. You all take care and be safe. God watch over you all. Prayers for moisture this spring. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Instead of an additional pump you can use a priority valve that allows a fixed flow rate to one circuit and the rest to a 2nd. It is a nice inexpensive fix. I used this method on a skidsteer with a single aux circuit to power a core drill and a water pump. I sent a fix rate to the pump and the rest to the main drill (rotation and down force).

for smaller systems that would be fine but in this case they will get some overhead capability for further upgrades and use. Even the biggest tractors available today are pretty much on the edge of being able to supply enough for the current air seeders, and they dont even have sectional lift or sectional downpressure capabilities yet for the tool bars.
@danrose3233
@danrose3233 5 ай бұрын
That's what I get for commenting before the I watch the entire thing. I noticed that the previous design used a priority valve/flow diverter. Evidently the one pump did not have enough flow to run both circuits.

Did you think about going to an axial-piston PFC pump with power beyond? And just put electro-hydraulic valve control block on the air seeder? It's how John Deere planters work for years, eliminates points of failure with multiple pumps and lines and flow control valves. All you need going to the planter is pressure line, return line, case drain for hydraulic motors, compensation line to stroke the pump.

Hi Guy's Instead of the custom made valve-body you have ordered to control the fan-speed. You could use a Danfoss PVG 32 valve, it is the Lego off the hydraulic world, it can electronic adjusted by a potentionsmeter (voltage controlled) or a simple on/off switch in cabine of the tractor. The PVG system is simple system and easy to maintain and be build in some sweet units.
