I believe eating insects helps people get the proper amount of nutrients in a less environmentaly damaging level than eating farm animals in a less harmful way to the human body... but this is a matter of choosing between getting a 50 or a 60 in an exam, they are still both failing grades (it is just an analogy, don't take it too srly, and this is only my opinion).

Tyler durden we don't actually. We accept that lions are carnivores and as apex predators are important to their ecosystem and keep the herds of animals they prey on in the best health weeding out the sick and old. It's human factory farming that we object to; it takes up land that could be used to grow agriculture, it's extremely water costly and it's fucking cruel on the animals.

the chef himself wouldn't eat it LOL. And it still costs $150. Goes to show that China has more money than sense.

Tipsylou Probably he knows something about these bugs that we don't, most of those chefs don't eat what they make for customers.

The first Chinese man he sat down and spoke with was pretty intelligent. He was still at heart a salesman, but he didn’t push his luck and risk being rude. Nice guy. I got the feeling he was flattered that the Vice journalist spoke Chinese.

In the caribbean, we used to put the black prickly caterpillar in white rum and turmeric as medication for stomach ache. i think we still have a little bit left from a few years ago.. replaced the alcohol after it's finished.

Bai Jiu 白酒 is not necessarily made from sorghum, in the region I went to , in the centre of Hubei, it was made of corn. Bai Jiu refers to high percentage alcohol.

BBC's eating insects documentary set in Thailand was really good, and it didn't seem expensive probably because a lot of the people there eat it rather than just not much demand in China so they can make it a more expensive delicacy.
