Using pressure data we established that Norman had room to explore the vertical part of the forces he was generating from the ground. For more info/to book onto our Coaching trip to Turkey, (only a few spots available now, last minute!) please email: zen@golftravelhub.co.uk

Having this lesson with Marcus was a highlight of my recent trip to the UK. The three hour lesson is real intense, and tiring, but well worth it. I went to the range today for the first time since I returned home. I'm hitting my 8 iron now closer to 130-135 yards rather than my usual 120. Adding more vertical to my swing and shifting back to weighting my front foot earlier is really making a difference.

Congrat Norman ! Wish I could make the same trip. 👌 Watching the reel, i felt you came down a bit "too early" maybe lingering a bit more at the top would be better off for you? or you already did that post lesson? this question is for my benefit, really. you are a lucky man, iam 10,213 Km to Heathrow.

@@nokia5359 That is one of the areas I continue to work on. I find that if I can get my weight back to my front foot while dropping my center of mass toward the floor (while the club is still moving in the backswing)I get to a position where I feel that I can initiate the downswing (by posting up) whenever I want. If I’m late with the weight transfer, then I feel the need to rush and a cast usually results.

Using the vertical forces concepts I've learned from your videos I'm able, for the first time in my golfing life, to get irons consistently airborne. Before that I would skull the ball 50 to 80% of the time. Now my issue is that all my irons go about 120 or 130 feet in the air. I'll be absolutely fine with that (for awhile) because topping constantly would drive me to blithering insanity. Also my distance, while not ideal, is far far better than rolling the ball 20 feet at a time. Anyway my shots are fades, which is fine, but I can't get the draw shape without pulling straight left or severely hooking. The more I look to start the ball right of target to encourage draw shape, the more I over rotate and pull it hard left. It's superhuman the way I can get around to sabotage my intent. I'll have to experiment with possibly the extreme opposite of my previous efforts. And I'm still resisting the movement to move weight forward which would slightly de-loft my club.

If you do an early horizontal shift to your left side then drop and pop up you are un weighting your feet/body. When you are light on your feet you can rotate pelvis and upper body a lot freer and faster. I think you also get more of your body weight thru the shot so you get both speed and mass thru impact. Its like you have 3 legs-- your left leg, your right leg and your arms and the club is your third leg. At address your weight is on your right and left leg with no weight or pressure in your arms and club to the ground. When you transition shift and popup the ground force pushing you up unweights your legs so all your mass is in the club as it hits the ball. This can be seen when a heavy set golfer can hit the ball farther or with more force even with a slower swing speed. So if you time it right you can gain speed and power.

So in the full swing you are still only popping up ⬆️ (once loaded into the lead side) and not deliberately firing hips and shoulder like I am currently 😮??
@GRFGolf
@GRFGolf Жыл бұрын
Everyone is different. The key is to explore. There are no fixed rules in how we experience using the forces but we need to allow the sequence to fire. Sounds like you're trying to rotate too much.
@nacohenMD

For me, the feel is the pop is what initiates the downswing. I try to keep my arms relaxed and let the club’s momentum from the pop do the work. At the end of the pop, it feels as though my hips actually brake, which leads to the release and then the hips and shoulders follow to my finish. With that said, my thoughts are the 1, 2, 3 pop with the 3 (weight going to the front foot) while still in the backswing. And the pop is where I want the club to release to. When I do the sequence right which is getting more common, I feel the club shallowing as it approaches the ball during the top of my pop. The crispness of the contact with a good sequence is a revelation! When I fire arms and shoulders too much, I either hook left or heel it with the club too open at contact. Yesterday, I was working at the range on these exercises. I was hitting driver up to about a 210 carry (total 230) up from typical bests of 190 carry or so and carrying my 3w off the mat up to about 190 carry (210 total). Both with nice little draws. Most importantly, my misses were not nearly as bad and I had a much better understanding of what I needed to do to correct things. And pretty consistent contact. Keep in mind, I’m short at 65”, have a bad back, and not a spring chicken 62 years old. What I wouldn’t give for more wingspan and 20 years off!

With this major change in his golf swing & using high force, how did his body react next day? Did he Significant pain in any of his joints?
@nacohenMD
@nacohenMD Жыл бұрын
I was a bit tired, but no pain. While the swing generates a lot of speed, the force is from the ground up and puts very little stress on my back and arms. Basically, if I'm hurting, I'm probably reverting to old habits of an arms driven swing.

I purchased GRF system almost a year ago. Ball striking has improved tremendously. On thing I struggle with still is drawing the ball. I ll swing right but usually end up with a straight push. Any suggestions? Is this a club face issue?
