The final pages of Nick Kyme's 'The Rebirth' contain major hints about what happened to Ferrus' skull. Apparently neither the Iron Hands nor the Inquisition have it. 'The Rebirth' was originally intended as the first book in a new Salamanders trilogy (in which Ferrus' skull would play a key role), but unfortunately these plans were apparently put on hold with the introduction of Primaris Marines and the major overhaul of the lore that came with it.

@@Epsilvonic as a sapient being each clone body should in theory generate a new soul of its own. Not primarch souls since those are probably minor warp gods, but powerful normal souls. So more likely a bunch of minor daemons that are all miniature versions of the real Ferrus.

This one is an instant classic! If you were to ask me this morning where Ferrus's skull was located, I'd say that Dorn brought it to the back apartments of the Imperial Palace, where they brought Jagatai when he was near death; essentially the lab/hospital where the Primarchs were first made. Ferrus is just a few steps away from being "repaired", it just got lost in the shuffle when the Emperor was wounded and Malcador disintegrated.

That's definitely what we need. We don't just need new lore for the sake of it. We need lore that actually changes the setting significantly. The return of the Primarchs SHOULD be something that alters the Imperium as a whole. And as an Iron Hands fan, I want to know where the Gorgon's skull is too.

The skull of Ferrus is currently being held in a very secure location, where it is being studied by Top Men. Top. Men. Or rather, it will be studied by Top Men once they finish their study of the current item at the top of the list, which is the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark was misplaced back in the 1930s when the paperwork regarding it was misfiled. But the Imperial Bureaucracy is confident that they'll finally find the missing paperwork any day now.
