Pantera really came into their own commercially and creatively in the 1990s.

I wasn't a fan of their earlier stuff. BUT WHEN Vulgar came out in 92, I think they really came into their own commercially and artistically.

Pantera and Mastodon are great bands, but NOT Death Metal... but when Christian Bale says the character's brain is on fire so much that Death Metal calms him down, that is something I identify with.
@LorcanWard8 жыл бұрын
"But his brain is on fire so much that death metal calms him. He's a very, very different indivudal to most of us." Death and many other forms of metal help calm a LOT of people down. Its certainly not abnormal. Metal is just like any other music which can give the listener an overwhelming sense of euphoria and relaxation.

Ok I've just seen 4 interviews including this one with Christian Bale and i'm not kidding, each interview he has a distinctively different accent.
@neelparmar66906 жыл бұрын
King Animal same, it keeps changing, even within the same sentence! I think his actual accent is a bit of a mess so he chooses one and sticks to it for an interview for the sake of consistency within that interview. However, it's only when you see multiple interviews that his facade falls apart. Takes nothing away from his in screen acting though, the man is brilliant in every role.
@bestgoutmachine8 жыл бұрын
Actually a study shows that metal heads are more calm than who listen to other genres.

I'm pretty sure if Bale only said "metal" everyone would be fine with that. It was doing an interview, so he was under some prressure, and I don't think he listens to metal on his own. So it doesn't really bother me what he said. I'm more excited he seemed to enjoy the music, like By Demons Be Driven as he said. Also, people that don't necessarily listen to rock/metal may not get it that intense music can actually be therapeutic and there are tons of people that wouldn't identify with this even if they knew how it worked, that's why it makes sense when he said "he's a very, very different individual to most of us". I'd say this short clip made Bale even cooler to me because he dealt with this in style.

The cinephile part of me: Great dedication, great actor. My music nerd part of me: This guy is not a music nerd like the rest of us, and he doesn't have to be. I think to him and most of his peers, bands like Steppenwolf or Black Sabbath is heavy metal, and all of the modern bands who have a much heavier and "obnoxious" sound is automatically labelled death metal.
