“Vice,” “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale on using celebrity for good

Christian Bale opens up on using the power of celebrity in this interview with WGN’s Dean Richards. While visiting Chicago, the “Dark Knight” star recalls standing on the Sears Tower, and joined “Vice” director Adam McKay in showing support for SOS Children’s Villages, a foster care nonprofit which keeps siblings together in homes with permanent foster parents.

So down-to-earth, Insightful and intelligent. Nothing about him is unreal when he's not acting. He expresses himself so well, deep and layered. I've admired his acting from, "Empire of the Sun", I often wondered who that kids was, his face and acting is etched in my heart forever and wondered what happened to that child actor. And, I just found out he was the same kid after seeing him in "Batman Begins" in Netflix. I am suddenly a forever fan now!!!

Same here. Empire of the Sun blew me away when i saw it as a teen and didn't know it was Bale. Same feeling i got too, how can a young kid portray such a challenging role! That movie stayed with me forever, etched in my heart.

He said he lost his English accent once and had to practice getting it back as he played so many Americans that he just had an American accent. Maybe that’s why he sounds the way he does. He’s used various accents for the films he’s done and now his voice has a culmination of different accents.
