just a random thought you could have a piece of plywood what would slide in between a couple of boards that you could screw to each side of the trailer so then when you tilted the trailer with dirt in you would not have to worry about the dirt falling off. Then take the plywood off when not hauling dirt so your mini x would be on the front of the trailer again. Just a thought

Been watching for years. Was in Mono on Sunday to visit friends and took a drive around the cemetery. Amazed at how big it is and have no idea how you can keep it in such good shape. Sure looks smaller on the tubes !

Put the backfill blade on the ground behind you when you're digging in hard ground. It'll give you more digging power and It won't be raising the machine up as easily.

Bill, you need to build a clam-shell bucket that can dig straight down. You can utilize the thumb piston for the front half of the clamshell. :-)
@shannonwagner2127 жыл бұрын
Bill can you install a side hydraulic dump for the front half of the trailer where you put the dirt with a removable side? between the trailer tires. that way you can pull up and park beside the hole leaving the excavator on the back of the trailer, dump all or most of the dirt. very little shoveling and use the excavator to push down on the pile of dirt to help compact it.
@billstmaxx7 жыл бұрын
Ya could have. But was wanting to stay away from more hydraulic lines to hook up and look after

Bill, have you ever considered using an auger instead of a bucket for the burial of cremains ? With a 15" auger you would be done in less than a minute. Just a thought.
@cheeto44937 жыл бұрын
If you stop filling in about halfway and stomp, and then again at the end (or even better every 12" of fill) you will get less settling and less dirt left over. It compact the lower levels better.
@loydcourson35887 жыл бұрын
bill what about having the blade facing the dirt to hold it back from falling out??
@throttlebottle59067 жыл бұрын
if a round hole is suitable you could use a large diameter auger and make something to catch the dirt it removes. of course that could make your job too easy for the small digs :))

try putting a removable board 2/3ds of the way down to stop the soil coming to far down . what is the reason you do not replace the spoil back in the whole when you did a grave and the make good with top soil ?
@sheiry17 жыл бұрын
you could probably shorten that roll over bar a wee bit by cutting a section out and re-welding it, then you wouldn't have issues getting under the door. But then you risk losing durability of the bar so idk

Bill, all that machinery when all you need is a crossover spade, a post chisel and a wheelbarrow. I would have had a tidy hole dug in the time it took you just to get prepared. Sometimes less is more...plus it would keep you fit and build up those back muscles. Just how big are those Canadian urns anyway!? All the best.
@billstmaxx7 жыл бұрын
But that's no fun. The possibility of making the hole to small is higher digging by hand. The machine makes larger than needed but better to big than have a cremation vessel go in crooked

Great Video Bill, will you be digging for real where you done the test dig or the cemetery still got capacity that it's more likely it will be your successor after your retirement.
@Keo-ug1uf7 жыл бұрын
How do you know exactly where to dig Bill, i guess that there are gonna be areas in the cemetery that have a spare plot in between others, at least i know thats how it works in my area, i see new plots going into old areas of the local cemetery
@billstmaxx7 жыл бұрын
Yes. If my index cards are right you can find the proper grave. For example a cremated remain that wanted to be buried on grampa I'd look up to see what grave he was buried in and open that.
@Keo-ug1uf7 жыл бұрын
Oh right i see, that explains how my great grandad was burried and then around 30 years later my great grandma was buried with him in the same plot, Although the area looks quite newish, there is probably a lot of graves there without stones on, or they want to put the stone on when the 3rd person goes in there. Thanks for the reply :)

bill-i too always give thumbs before i watch-sometimes i don't care for something too much-but hey u took the time to do the video-i figure if i'm gonna watch it-out of respect for u-i thumbs up too. anyways-doesn't ur cemetery require a vault for the urn their? i have only attended one funeral that was buried like that. here at my cemetery, our funeral director told us-i would have to a vault, then my urn, well i suppose u wouldn't need a urn, if using a vault-right. i really enjoyed seeing how i was gonna go to rest--minus my vault. so them urn's at ur place-they would water tight-like a good vault is suppose to be? thanks again-bill.

how big a whole is needed, you can make a tube type whole digger with a shop vacuum hooked to it ,no mess and pretty quick.
@rayjan79967 жыл бұрын
I don't think a shop vac could suck the dirt up. At my former workplace I had to design a vacuum car that could suck up rocks up to 2", but it needed a 155hp motor to da that. I have in my head an idea for a different bucket style. Maybe I will design one in CAD and do a simulation with it. Otherwise a great video as always Bill.
