I really enjoy the quality of this kit! Although this kit has the largest number of parts I have ever built...
Building a ship model of the frigate USS CONFEDERACY (1778) in scale 1:64. Kit manufactured by the American company ModelshipWays. Here I share my personal impressions of the kit and results.

Olha, thanks to you I have multiple bruises on my head… I keep slapping my forehead when I see another new technique that I’ve never heard of or imagined. The CA glue as a wood finish? Heat tricks with PVA glue? A sharpened broken saw blade for glue removal?.. brilliant. I’ve been building models of one type or another for 45 years- mostly airplanes - and this priceless. Thank you! It wasn't a finish, it was superglue just to imitate nails (treenails), that's why I scraped it off the surface completely so that the glue remained only in the holes. This technology is detailed in the subtitles...

The kit includes all the details and planks from basswoodto make it as cheap and easy to build as possible (having only a scalpel and a file), and I will completely modernize this model and therefore use classic types of wood (pear, boxwood and other fruit trees)...

Das war sehr drastisch und spricht nicht für den Bausatz Dieser Bausatz war sicherlich nicht ganz so günstig 😉😉 Aber bei schlechtem Material kann die Arbeit noch so gut sein das Ergebnis ist und bleibt nicht gut Ich verstehe Dich Vielen Dank für das Video Es war sehr intetessant . Einen Vorschlag hätte ich Vielleicht benutzt Du zum entfernen des Schleistaubes besser einen kleinen Staubsauger. Danke Frank Es war Baswood-Holz, das der Hersteller verwendete, um die Kosten des Bausatzes zu senken, und ich entschied mich für traditionelles Modellieren wie Birne, Buchsbaum... Ja - ich habe einen großen Staubsauger))) Und ich bevorzuge andere Zimmermannsklebstoffe, aber in einigen Fällen ist es nicht möglich, Sekundenkleberstaub wie hier bei Kunstnägeln zu ersetzen...

When you glued up the transom , you only put glue on the structural members and not plank to plank. Won’t the planks move and swell over time?

I applied glue between the planks too, that is why I used a needle in some places. And then additionally filled with CA glue the rest of the cracks along with the imitation nails. So the wood is less exposed to high humidity, which has become a real problem in my erea...

The kit includes all the materials, but they are made of Basswood. I prefer the classics: pear, boxwood and other fruit trees, so I will seriously upgrade this model! Really enjoyed the video. A couple of questions though. Why did you not use the planks from the kit? Is it because they're the wrong scale for a ship this large? Also, was that super glue you put on it at the end? What does that do when you put it on and scrape it off?

Chopstyx. Boxwood has the best finish of all the modelling timbers, it polishes to a mirror shine. Also Pear and ebony. Expensive but once you've used them! I use basswood for internal timbers, nothing that is going to be visible.

Once I almost lost the model because I used superglue to attach the model on wooden dowels to the stand. On the first trip to the competition during transportation, the wheel of the car fell into a pothole and the box with the model jumped up to the ceiling. As a result of this blow, the superglue simply peeled off and miraculously the mast did not break. This is a feature of CA glue - it is very strong for tensile but can not withstand shocks, vibrations or lateral pressure. Therefore, if you want your model to live longer than 15-20 years - it is better to use carpentry glue as the main, and CA only as a secondary glue!..

i have a Kit of an French 74gun 3rd Rate Le Superb never got to the Planking stage because i cant identify were the first Plank is suposed to go because the Resolution of the Pictures in the Manual was so bad. Compared to the Manual of the Constructo Kit that i had before the quality is absolutly underwelming. Also never had time to sit down long enough to get any work done on it in the past few years.

the Kit itself is great but the Printed and stappeled Papersheets as Manual were not. still i dont know what to do with the Kit if i should dump it into the trash or send it away.
