My therapist explains your feelings/subconscious as your inner child. So when you feel your feelings (like anxiety), you have to acknowledge them, validate your inner child, and comfort your inner child.

People who self reflect, go deep, go to counseling or therapy...always sound “out there” to those who are in their ego. It sometimes becomes lonely healing yourself because people naturally will fall away or judge like to dmt and shrooms comments. Those people are okay to fall alway. The right people will be attracted to you and you will find your people or your friends/family will come back after they start to self reflect. Not saying “you” specifically just mean in general that is a typical pattern and it can feel lonely. More and more people are getting there though and it’s aweeeesome. One day, , humankind will be connected and in love rather than ego
@TheSwauzz
@TheSwauzz 3 жыл бұрын
I personally feel we are taking many steps backwards to actually connecting as humans based off of the past 2-3 years. So many people are downright hateful for zero reason to others. That's not being loving and accepting. And that mentality has been growing and growing as those hateful people keep finding one another online. And of course misery loves company so the amount of spiteful, hateful, vindictive, judgmental people continues to grow every single day. I do agree with you though. It's important to focus on self-growth even though people you've maybe known for years might turn away from you. That's on them and anyone who looks down on you for bettering yourself is not someone you want in your life.
@lilbrit1811
@lilbrit1811 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSwauzz I definitely see how that can seem very prevalent. I feel as though younger generations and millennials are being more aware of generational trauma and healing. Learning about the history of our country. That brings up awful things so it may seem as though there is strife or hate. I feel as though there is a new generation of holding people accountable when they’re filled with hate, racism, sexism etc ya know? It can feel intense

In the future I'd love to hear some specific, practical steps you take in 'responding' rather than reacting. I've watched and read a lot of self help content and I find they never give a specific scenario, just vague advice. I know everyone is unique and situations are different (which is probably why they keep it vague) but for me, personally, I find it helpful to look to examples for guidance. Kinda like with math problems: they give you examples of different problems and tell you how to solve it and you're given different problems for homework but it's still division, multiplication, or whatever. (Also the metaphors you use are great!

I deal with massive anxiety. Like, breakdowns in the kitchen anxiety, elevated BP anxiety, tight chest anxiety, etc. I'm not on any medication, so it's even more difficult for me. When I start to feel overwhelmed by a situation and all my responses to it are emotional and terrible, I have to literally stop myself and just breathe. I focus 100% on breathing and then I start to ask myself questions in my head to break down my feelings and the situation. So.. for example, I have been dealing with knee issues since October. It's so bad, I can barely walk. I can't do anything I love to do anymore at this moment. In the beginning, I was a wreck. I had a meltdown in front of my mom, crying uncontrollably because I just felt so, so miserable and I had no idea what I was supposed to do to help myself (at that time, I didn't have health coverage and to paint a picture.. even getting up and down from the toilet felt like my knees would just snap). I felt like I was just done. I've had chronic pain from my back since I was 19 and other health issues and this was just.. it was enough. I'd had ENOUGH. Luckily, my mom was there to help me. She told me to breathe. She asked me what I COULD control in this situation. We had a long talk and I totally wish every person had someone like my mom, because having someone else to help you focus is amazing. But after that, I haven't broken down again. When I start to feel overwhelming sadness or anger over my situation, I stop. I breathe. I ask myself "What can I do right now, in this moment? Does being upset help me at all right now?" And honestly.. there's many other things I've been dealing with for years. My mantra for the past 3 years has been "This is only temporary". It's brought a lot of comfort to me and helped me really analyze my situation. It's helped me put many things into perspective, like.. is this argument really worth it? Am I being reasonable? Does this really matter in the long run? Life is really, truly already hard enough and I realized I was literally just making my OWN life harder for myself. It's very silly when you look at it that way. Anyway, I hope this helps you in some way. I wish you all happiness, truly.

I'm telling you, I think some of us in our 20s are always on the same life path, because I have been going through the same exact journey about figuring out how to fully love myself, get to know myself, my traumas and how I can heal, and attending therapy for the first time. I don't get why people think learning yourself inside and out and trying to move towards being a happier version of your inherent self means you're doing drugs LOL.

Is anyone else still scared of getting “kicked from the tribe”? I’m constantly afraid that I’m not “in”, that people don’t like me, and that I’m doing something wrong in my life or to others. I never know if something I’m saying is annoying or if what I’m posting is stupid or if I’m just a bad person. Idk how to make sure that I’m not removed from the community and that I deserve to belong. How do I handle this feeling? Also this is such a new thing for me, I loved this video so so much because I’m really realizing how much of this resonates with me.

I really like this comment. It sounds like you’re incredibly self reflective and aware and that’s a good thing! I think being aware of how you treat others and yourself is good, but being critical of yourself can be damaging and something that is so easy for all of us to do. Maybe focus on the positives in what you do for yourself and others. If you are actively being the best possible person you can by being kind and genuine, what else really matters? We’re our own worst critics and while we spend so much time worrying about other people and their perceptions of us, they are actually worrying about themselves just as you are. And, another way to look at it, if people find you annoying or unlikable, those aren’t the people you need in your life. Be genuine and true to yourself and what you feel at the moment. You are your best self at this moment and everyday is an opportunity to be better. Be kind to yourself. Being so focused on if people like you pulls you out of the present and away from your true self that just wants to love and be loved. I’m working on this as well. We’re all on our own journey. A mantra I carry with me all day everyday is “I love and approve of myself.” Try saying it whenever you feel like criticizing yourself. It works wonders for me. Best of luck💖

I totally resonate with this. I think what helped me the most is that everyone is living their own lives and have their own priorities, thinking about their own problems. This has helped me reduce the amount of stress and anxiety I get from being with friends or meeting new people. I have made a switch where now I want to bring a calm energy rather than an anxious one. It takes time, so dont worry. Also not everyone is a good match and that is ok. There are plenty of people in the world to start a friendship or a connection.
@TheSwauzz
@TheSwauzz 3 жыл бұрын
First of all, how old are you? With age should come a little perspective. Most people do not feel "right" in their lives until their 30s. Second, are you a good communicator? For the personal relationships you have in your life, are you able to talk about these feelings with anyone? Communicating these feelings can help you compartmentalize them, meaning it will be easier for you to objectively look at a situation and not care about what others think about you. If you're feeling this way because of how others are treating you or talking to you, then you really need to find a safe space to speak to someone about these issues. If this is all coming from yourself, you're the one in the driver's seat. YOU get to control what matters and doesn't matter to you. Something Megan didn't touch on is that this is 2021, a day where we don't just throw someone out into the wild to die. There's a place for everyone these days, but it's ultimately up to you what affects you. Here's my biggest advice to you: Live every day trying to do better than the day before and honestly.. just be kind. Kind people like kind people, so just.. be the friend to yourself that you want to have in your own life, if that makes sense.

Since July 2, 2020 I have been making a 2 minute video at the end of each day checking in and reflecting on what I can learn from that day. Yesterday was my 8-month anniversary of doing that, and now I feel I can better trust myself to handle any curve ball that life throws at me. I’m now a person that I can depend on. I really struggle with my emotions in my relationship. I know I have to find myself beautiful, cute, powerful, sexy, good enough and so on, but so much of this is depending on how my partner sees me and reacts. When he is saying „i love you“ in a weird way I immadiately feel not so much loved and a whole movie starts in my brain. I often communicate those feelings to him, but he does not understand why I always have to overthink so little things. So my big question is, how to turn off this voice, how to just feel and not think so much. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. Laura :)

I’m 23, and what really resonated to my core is when you said in your previous video “I began making permanent decisions” around your mid-twenties. How did you come around overcoming that fear of commitment? Especially after spending a few years, in a way, mindlessly living about life before all of a sudden shit got real...haha. Maybe not just advice, but your experience on how you transitioned to making more “permanent”, intentional, committed decisions about your life! Whether with friendships, career-wise, etc. How do you truly know what is best for you by understanding not just what you want, but also recognizing what you need? Also, getting over the fear of “starting over”... because I feel like that’s a feeling people get with self-reflection, almost the fear of facing the truth of not knowing who you even are. That got way deeper than I meant lol either way, been following you since 2013! Is it weird that I feel like you’ve always been “this” version to me? I guess I always got those vibes of you wanting to be your true self, and I’m happy to see you finally seeking it out and sharing on screen! 🤍

I’ve been a long time follower (like yearsss) and it’s weird bc I went through this transition around 2019 and it’s still like I am a different person... no one in “my life situation” has gone through this “awakening” (although I’m trying my best to help those around me see the truth in themselves) I digress it’s nice to see you go through this shift it makes me happy for you. This is the next step in evolution for us as beings and I’m so excited to be living this moment. (I used to consider my self as a chronic depressed person- I only allowed myself to view everything from this point of view) that is why I feel so different free happy and at peace. I know maybe people who haven’t heard or actually understand these concepts won’t “get it” or “change” immediately but it all starts with planting a seed. You are beaming your light to all those around you meg and I am here for it.

(and not at all finished, it's an ongoing process.) I know you can achieve this in a bunch of ways, but meditation has really helped me to listen to my body and not judge what I'm feeling. and the clarity you can get to can be amazing.. or really hard sometimes. I love that you're sharing this with us Megan! I'm so excited for all your new content and to see your growth. Edit: It also seems like there's more "mistakes" or less polished moments in these videos which I really love- it makes it relatable and feels like we see an authentic/genuine side we haven't gotten to see before 💜

I really loved this. I've never been to therapy or explored much about my subconscious. I started experiencing anxiety for the first time just about a year ago and it was the scariest thing for me. It still is scary sometimes when I don't understand why it's happening or what's triggering it. So for you to say that sometimes you need to just short circuit yourself and evaluate what's happening was awesome. AND to sit with myself and feel my feelings and understand what they are and how I feel when things happen. I've been watching all of you videos for a while now and it's so awesome to see how much you've grown!! thank you!

I’ve had a rough few months with my mental health and I really felt like no one understood my pain and I want to go to therapy but doing therapy over zoom scares me as my parents home isn’t safe for me to talk about my struggles so I’m trying to find the balance in my life right now and help myself without depending on others for comfort, so thank you for letting us reevaluate our perspective and really listen our bodies, today i was exhausted so I decided to do my skin care routine, wash my brushes and take a really long nap and I’m glad I was able to take some weight off my chest because I listened to my body by getting the rest I definitely needed

I’ve always had things like this floating in the back of my brain and it’s nice to hear someone else say it. Going into the therapist career, this has helped me quite a lot in the aspect of practicing what you preach. Thank you very much and I love you❤️❤️

“your body knows best” “you’re the care taker of yourself so take care of yourself ” ❤️ I needed this. I’ve just started therapy and this video is so in tune to where I’m in my life right now. The challenge for me, is remembering to pause when something sparks. I only remember to decipher AFTER I’ve already reacted. Definitely a muscle I need to exercise

Love that you are sharing your experience! Your energy feels very light and at home within yourself, which is so awesome to see! I think that something that could be helpful to discuss in a future video is the usefulness of an emotion like anger. That anger isn’t necessarily bad, but is your body’s way of telling you that a boundary has been crossed. The way you respond from that anger (as opposed to react) can help you to effectively communicate your needs to others as well as highlight larger scope injustices (protests, for instance make a lot of sense from this perspective).
