I truly believe everyone can learn and grow from therapy. I wanted to share a few lessons I learned throughout my journey and also share my 3 non-negotiables for having a good day. What are yours?
@cheimawithane47003 жыл бұрын
I recognized some traits and aspects of myself in your explanation. Being bicultural can make us questionning ourself on our identity so mush in my opinion. This stress "worthy" matter is also very present in my life. For me the non negociable 1. moving (walk,yoga or quick workout) 2. Cooking session 3. Creating (paint journaling drawing)

There are SO many wonderful things to learn in therapy about ourselves, family, and the world. The most precious gift is that when we dig really deep, we can find that we had the answer all along and that is a testament to our authentic, unique self. Sometimes we just need someone to help us find our way. Your subscriber, A Clinical Psychologist

Therapy taught me: • how connected the physical is to the mental/emotional • that my need to be seen and heard is paramount to anything else • to take care of both my feminine and masculine energies • that trauma gets stored in the body, and needs to be released

Thanks for being so honest and open! Our parents have a much more challenging life than we do. Most of them came to America without knowing English and with very little to no money. They tried their best to raise us and they are only human. It’s good to reflect on their actions and recognize how you can be different when you have a child.

Part II: Yes please. Currently thinking about starting some therapy work. Kinda stuck in my life and upset with myself / the diminishing of my internal drive, so listening to other people's experiences is definitely making it more approachable, less daunting.

One of the things that therapy helped me come to realize and learn is: That I’m worthy of existing and enjoying my existence :) that it’s okay to live for me and strive for a better and happier life

i love this video Jenn!❣️ from my personal experience with therapy i had to recognize that sometimes i need breaks from it. my emotional world goes very deep and sometimes i get pulled too far one way and all i can focus on are the dark unhealed parts lingering inside me. i recently started going back to therapy due to family trauma being uncovered again but i recognize it as a privilege because my therapist is closeby, accepts my insurance, and is pretty compatible with my needs. i know not everyone is so lucky as it can be very expensive and inconvenient. but it truly makes such a radical difference when you start to peel back the layers of pain and your past. it’s a beautiful and terrifying journey ❤️🩹 lots of self-healing work is still being explored. thank you for sharing your journey!💞

My biggest takeaways from therapy were learning that I can only control myself and not others, and to identify the thoughts behind my feelings. I think it helped ground me in difficult situations and understand what I had power over (me!), and what was out of my reach. This mindset shift really brought relief and peace in my life, and helped me become more solution-focused instead of trapped in my problems. Whenever I encounter hardships, I am able to think about how to move beyond it rather than spiral into rumination.

I have lived going to therapy for so many reasons ! One of them is that I could view my thoughts and my actions from a more objective point of view. It showed me how I wasn’t wrong all the time and how my feelings and my thoughts are valid. Showed me that I could be a more free self. 🙃 Part 2 ! Yes !!!

Hey girl! Can’t agree more when u said “parents are not parents, they’re humans.” I learned it after becoming a mom. I realized that it’s too hard and literally impossible to be a perfect mom and to meet any needs of my kid. It allows me to start rethinking my relationship with my parents and try to forgive them. I’m so proud of you that you got to know this and always being understanding and caring. I’ve been watching your video since 2016 and learned English form you. You were literally my “one-on-one English tutor” in my life. I’m so grateful that you’ve been always so honest and loyal to your audience and I feel like you are like a friend of mine. Hopefully I will meet u someday in LA. Love u.

Thanks so much for this video, I recently started therapy after putting it out for so long. I never thought I could relate to someone in so many aspects- childhood, traits, coping mechanisms. I always thought that I could manage most of my emotions and situations with my perseverance, mostly because I was on my own due to my hard working parents (and our poor communication skills). Latino households could be so hard and emotional draining, also they have so many stigmas. Sometimes they still throw it on my face and call me crazy for seeking therapy, but I’m so happy I did. So motivated to break generational trauma.

Hi Jenn! I never leave comments. But this is the first time in my life doing it! I just want you to know that you are helping me SO much currently. Lately I realize that I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for years. I had a traumatic childhood where I had to do all by myself and also my parents split in a terrible way. I have also an autistic child and most of the time it can be so stressful because I always think that I'm not a good mother and he is autistic because of me. Because it's my fault. You are teaching me self love and that having mental problems IS normal and that it's not impossible to heal. Thank you for your videos. I watch them every single day to cheer me up, to get inspiration and most importantly to confirm that everything will be ok in time with a little help. Please do more videos about mental health. I'm one of your biggest fans since your first videos in early 2010's. Sending you love and respect from Venice, Italy!
