I've been using Melodyne daily for the last 20 years and I just learned a few handy shortcuts. Thank you!

i once visited your booth at IMSTA festa in germany and there was a course where someone showed a bunch of shortcuts with hotkeys, just like this, but i forgot most of them and this video helped me remember some of them.. or maybe all of them, not sure. it's cool that you have put so much thought into all this. i'm especially looking forward to try the "seperate notes as trills" feature myself, because a lot of times i actually want the note seperations to be a lot more "granular", so i have an easier time twisting vocals to more extreme states

In case you can't get the shortcuts 1-6 and L to work on your system, I noticed that my version of Melodyne had the shortcuts set to version 4 even though I only ever used Melodyne version 5 so make sure to go to preferences - shortcuts and the cog icon, select Melodyne 5 for those shortcuts to be correctly loaded. Hope this helps!

Are you dragging melodyne onto the track you're pitch correcting and playing the track through the daw for harmonic context?

Melodyne is that kind of software that changed music for ever. In my weird personal opinions, maybe even more than Autotune or ProTools.

now do a biggest melodyne time wasters. Because when it comes to Melodyne, sure it allows us to make invaluable modifications for the best, but we all know we also sometimes get caught up for hours on some insignificant details nobody is ever gonna notice (including ourselves in 2 weeks) 😅

so true, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" Always start with a goal and stop when it's accomplished. I've ruined several vocals in the past, only to undo everything to make it sound better/more natural/human.

I didn't get the last example, as everything was red so I assume everything was selected? or is there a way to select only sibilants or only tonal parts?
@stephencarter8625 Жыл бұрын
What he didn’t tell you is that (in the latest Melodyne) there is a specific sibilance tool, which affects all the detected sibilant parts of the blobs simultaneously. He also didn’t make very clear the most time time saving feature, that is, by right-clicking on the main blob display area you get a drop-down menu for selecting the tools without using a key command or mousing up to the header!

I should give the sibilance thing another try. I don't think I liked it the first time I tried it, but that was probably just a bad first try. Thanks for the tips. Would love something that allows me to solo a blob and hear it by itself in playback. thanks.
@intheblink Жыл бұрын
I didn’t love it completely at first either, but I tried it again at some point last year and I think it’s the cleanest way to handle sibilance. It’s just very very easy to overdo it.

Great demo. But, PC users use Melodyne as well. Next time include key commands for PC users as well. Appreciated.

Great shortcuts! I've got a question. Is there a way to tune one vocal track and then copy that fixed audio for the next chorus? (I'm working with Logic Pro X) There were instances where I had to go into Melodyne for every track in a stack of backing vocal tracks and manually copy and paste Melodyne information (usually just fixed time, because backing vocals sound "bigger" when they're not tuned at all). There's gotta be an easier way to do that. Someone pls help.
@celemony Жыл бұрын
Of course there’s Copy/Paste in Melodyne, but that’s probably not what you mean, is it? Perhaps you could contact our support team for assistance. See here: www.celemony.com/support
@musiclover-r9m8 ай бұрын
Do 1 chorus - then bounce in place or freeze/flatten the track/audio. It will give you a file with your finished, tuned chorus (i usually duplicate my initial chorus track in case I need to make future changes to the melodyne tuning). Then just copy and paste your chorus audio to all of the chorus sections.

Anyone that’s recorded professional vocals will find that S’s are not linear. You can have one S right next to another S and they will sound totally different. The only way to make a professional vocal is to actually clip gain every one that needs attention.
@celemony Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what you can do with Melodyne’s ‘Sibilant Balance’ tool. Melodyne will automatically separate the sibilants (as well as breath noise) from the rest, and you can edit their volume - either one by one or a selection or all of them.
