I absolutely love my 2010 tacoma. 6 speed stick, 4 door. For a little bit after getting it there was a little bit of love/hate, but then grew to love it. The only thing I wish is if they offered a manual 4 wheel shifter.

It's not just you. I have a 2012 SR5 Access cab and the brakes are inadequate, to put it kindly. And that's with the 2.7L. But it is so reliable and I've grown so attached to it I'll never get rid of it.

My 2008 Tacoma had spacers on front struts and rear leaf springs when I got it as 2nd owner. It always felt squirrely and no alignment ever resolved the issue. The truck is much more planted after I removed the spacers. More even tire wear also. Bleeding the brakes using speed bleeders really helped the braking as well. Way better that using a vacuum pump.

I have a 2010 tacoma I rust proof it every year. I have no issues with rust I Also have the Bilstein 5100 They're not the greatest. I would look into old man EMU Or Edelbrock they have a kit for the Tacoma. I live in brampton if you ever wanted to meet up to talk,

I've had 5100s in the past and wasn't thrilled with them either, I was just thinking of something common that could be found easily

@CanadianGearhead That's the reason I went with them.They were very easy to get I have a lot of crazy stories. With owning this truck with dealing with the dealership and and with Toyota of canada and Toyota of USA. I bought the truck 2 years old from a dealership in Canada, but it's an American truck.

I replaced the struts, shocks front and back in my 2010 access cab Tacoma. This summer. I went with a pretty cheap set. The fronts are in there deep I wish I had spent more on them. Not happy with the ride at all. 157,000 miles. I relit all my interior dash light to blue. All surface mount, tiny soldered chips. Even the climate control that you did. I went with the same knobs as you. They don’t really light to brightly. I have them memorized for reach though.

I love my 05 Tacoma and it is far from boring being the 6 speed X-Runner. My biggest complaint is the crappy paint that Toyota seemed to use during that era.
@dimwitrj6 ай бұрын
Also I agree with the horrible sounding exhaust. There used to be an equal length header and y-pipe on the aftermarket but both are discontinued. From the few sound clips I've heard online, they seemed to have sounded pretty good.

Mmmmm. X-RUNNER. I know I'm one of the 23 people in North America that wanted one (not a huge seller) but still, what a cool model. I wanted a blue one, but life never let me do it. Maybe one out there will be cheap enough for the kids.

I’m reminded why these trucks last so long every time I get stuck behind a boomer driving one 10mph under the speed limit.
@witwicky7356 ай бұрын
As a GenX (let's face it, we're all Boomers above 30 to GenZ) I no longer speed. Theres no point. The 4.0 isn't fast, and it just burns more gas. Also, GenX are slackers by nature, hurrying isn't what we do. Nothing on my 2nd Gen has ever broken except one dash light bulb. Embrace the darkness.
@jacobwhipple78486 ай бұрын
Bud I'm 27 and I just stay at the speed limit. Don't break the law while you're breaking the law.

Dont ever get rid of that truck. I have a NY 2.7 5mt, 4wd, access cab. Heavy steering, lousy but ensuring braking system, parking brake works, kind of, but the little baby big block 4 cylinder is an amazing little machine with the clutch pedal. I hate the elevtronic transfer case and you better have 4wd in before you need it unlike the old J shift, but my god these trucks drive great, especially the faster you go. 85 on highway no issues with either engine or transmission any combinations
