@@JD-sb4ss I would. My dad had the same thing happen to him while trolling in 15-20ft of water. Rod got pulled out of the boat and he eventually snagged the rod and the fish was still on -- decent size largemouth bass.

That is bad ass 🙂👍 Btw, I think it is more likely than most people think, to get a rod back that has been yanked in. I watched a friend get back a rod back, that was yanked off my boat, waaay out offshore, in 30 feet of water. He just fan casted a treble hook with a 1/4oz slider, all the way around the boat, until he caught the line. Not only did he get his rod back, but he had a 20lb catfish on the other end 👍

what a fun video! Love those reds and black drum. Same thing happened to me in Cedar Key. I could see them tailing. and every time they grabbed it-- they let go. sometimes a bigger hook works. awesome! and love all the CATCH AND RELEASE!

Amazing catch my friend. So cool dude got his rod back with the fish still on it. The no stretch of the braid, especially with very little out is probably why you missed the first two. You ripped the hook out. I've learned that the hard way. When there's very little line out I just reel down and let the rod set the hook. Another reason I switched back to mono and flora carbon. That and it tore my elbows up. Awesome vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏

Tell Shane to tie a Parachute cord to his rod and use a tent stake to anchor it. He'll never lose another rod. It works like a lanyard.

I’ve done that once. A big Flathead took my rod into the river. Later on I snagged it when I cast another rod. I got back my combo and a nice 20lb. Flathead was still on the line. Great video as always.

What a lucky moment lol! Way to go!....that was a nice drum at the end too. At Keller and Lavaca Bay if you time it right when they come in to feed you can catch em back to back that size and even bigger. Just put a live crab on the hook and they come flocking. Great video!

Now that’s a story no one would believe but it’s happened to me a couple times I remember when I was like 14 years old the fish took my rod in the water and I was so upset then like 20 minutes later I somehow snagged the line with the fish still on and my rod those are the best stories ever it was a good 17 pound striper!!

What a fun video. Closest thing I've seen to catching that rod was when me a buddy were catching bream, he broke off when a fish got around a submerged limb. Half an hour later he caught said fish with hook and bobber still attached.

@@TyPigPatrol I have caught reds out of the gulf of Mexico 1 time ..my grandmother lived at horseshoe Beach in Florida. Caught them with my dad and my cousin off of a boat about 3 miles out..i got out waded and pulled the boat up to a little island. Because it was too low for the motor to run...we caught maybe 15 redfish as the tide came in..I caught some on a spoon and we were fishing with corks and live shrimp also..we drove the boat right back in and cooked a couple on the grill..

I uses to have a spot down near Corpus that a 37" drum was a small one. We would consistently catch 45" + ones. They ruined me for any freshwater fishing.

Here in canada on the great lakes we have a Sheephead but its a trash fish. No teeth, but its funny, its actually a freshwater drum which is not far from the red fish youre catching. ive heard its actually quite tasty though
