My wife and I saw it last night. I’ve been in the biker world for about 25 years. Over that time, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know and hearing stories of “the old days” by the old grey beards. Having come from this world, here’s my take on the movie. This movie rang very true as far as historical account. The old timers would tell stories about how clubs started, then what they turned into in the late 60s and early 70s. There are very few clubs around in the 50s and early 60s that were able to maintain their original culture and intent. The scene definitely underwent an enormous shift in the late 60s and early 70s. When Johnny tells Kathy, “No matter what you give to a thing, no matter how much you give everything you got, it’s just gonna do what it’s gonna do”. Those words were SO FAMILIAR because I’ve heard old timers say exactly the same thing. This movie is a great look into the evolution of motorcycle clubs during that time. Very true to history. All of it. Some of the stories I’ve heard from the guys who were there seemed to mirror a lot of what is seen in this movie. As far as the movie’s entertainment value, it is a good story and a theme that I think a lot of people can connect with. It’s not as heart pumping and thrilling as most might expect. It does not rely on action sequences and fight scenes to add drama. It’s just the way it really was. Some may feel let down because they are expecting a SOA kind of movie. This isn’t that. This is more of docudrama, not an action movie. I loved it! Like I said, it rang so true to me. It reminded me of sitting with a grey beard when I was in my late 20s hearing stories of the old days. So maybe I’m biased. But if someone wants an accurate understanding of how motorcycle clubs evolved during this time, this is a great introduction to it.

"No matter what you give to a thing, no matter how much you give everything you got, it's just gonna do what it's gonna do". That's enlightenment right there. It was delivered in such a "rough around the edges" manner too. Incredibly insightful and demonstrative of higher thinking.

Bikeriders needed more action. Kathy being the main character and narrating was the worst decision this movie could’ve made. We didn’t get enough screen time with the actual characters and kept hearing lines like “oh yeah they did this and did that” to tell us as the audience that they were “badass” but the movie would either barely show a small scene for context or not even show a scene at all. Also there was barely any tension built up in the fight scenes. The action was too quick and would move on to the next part of the story which ends up being years later and not let us sit with what just happened

If the movie sold itself as a docudrama it would have worked, but it set itself up for some narrative and it never paid out. I didnt care for any of the charecters. Butler was flat, just no petsonality. He didnt seem to love his wife, he didnt seem to love the club he was just there. Time progressed but other than slight music choices and some facial hair changes one wouldn't know. The ending seemed abrupt. The lack of stakes is what killed it for me.

Just seen it. Welll... First of all it differs a lot from this MC original story. In reality Johnny was alive for a long time after, he divided the club and eventually left. He passed 2018, as far as I know. Benny really wasn't a main guy at all, it just so because the story was taken from his wife. Actually, there are almost no pictures of him in the book. He's still alive, but inactive in the MC. Katy, as far as I know, passed away not so long ago. Funny Sonny remarried about 10 times, and was active in his MC for a long time. Passed in 2010. So the movie is good as a separate story, and cannot be compared or related to the original story about the MC the Bikeriders are written about.
