The Birmingham manuscript, discovered and prominently covered in the news in 2015, was celebrated and touted as a complete manuscript to actually come from the time of the prophet Muhammad - something that has been sorely lacking for Islam. In reality, the Birmingham “manuscript” falls far short of being a full manuscript. In fact, it is only two pages comprised of 33 verses pulled from 3 separate chapters. Know these HOLES IN the Bible. Why is it the BIOGRAPHY of Prophet jESUs (pbuh) is TOTALLY HOLEY? And why the Christians are not fully aware about this HUGE HOLE? Is this what is being called a BLIND FOLLOWING? Is the story of the life of Prophet jESUs (pbuh) NOT IMPORTANT to them when in fact, they should oblige themselves to know every minute detail of it? What is the use of venerating him when they know only a little about him? As can be observed that in spite of the 4 narratives depicted in the 4 make-believe gospels, the 4 Greek writers failed to give the full account of the life of Prophet jESUs (pbuh). The narrative started from year 1 which tells about his miraculous conception and his birth, and then it jumped immediately to year 30 which tells about his preaching of the Aramaic Gospel to the children of Israel (Jews), and ended in year 33 where he was allegedly crucified and ascended to heaven. 28 years from year 2 to year 29 which comprised the primetime of his life are unaccounted for. Indeed, what a BIG, BIG HOLE it is!!! Such a man who hailed from a miraculous beginning cannot escape the curious and inquisitive eyes of the people. So, it could not be that there is no narrative for those 28 years. It could not be that out of his 33 years on earth, only 5 years were accounted for and having narrative. Those 28 years must have been replete with tremendous meaningful and wonderful activities. It could not be that after he ascended to heaven, people of his time blew all the memories about him into oblivion. The story of such a man like him who is revered and venerated by the people cannot easily be forgotten. But why did the 4 Greek writers skip the account of the primetime of his life? Is there something fishy that needs to be hidden? One cannot help to cast doubt that there is really something fishy in the narratives of the biography of Prophet jESUs (pbuh). Even before the gospel accounts were written, there was the life of Jesus Christ being orally transmitted among the Jewish population of the 1st century. The gospel accounts were written much later in the latter half of the 1st century. The gospel accounts were possible because Jesus' life was known among the people, both who accepted him and rejected him. Even in Luke's account of the gospel of Jesus Christ of God's Kingdom, Luke begins chapter 1 by writing, "Since many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, 3 it seemed fitting to me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in an orderly sequence, most excellent Theophilus; 4 so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught." So, Luke himself admits other were already spreading the word. Luke only decided to write an account of what had happened in an orderly way just for Theophilus to see. In this day and age, everyone got to read what Luke had written for Theophilus alone. More than what Luke says, there is no possible explanation for the conversion of a large number of Jewish and non-Jewish people to follow Christ without Christ's death and resurrection happening. Israel was under Roman rule during Jesus' time. A brutal empire. Nobody had the courage to stand up to Romans and suffer torture under them. Yet, Christians (Jewish and non-Jewish disciples of Christ) of the 1st century were willing to die for the belief Christ died and resurrected. A large section of the society decided to follow Christ. In less than 3 centuries, the Roman emperor Constantine accept Christ. Such was the impact of the belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior who died and resurrected for the ungodly. Unlike Islam, with due respect, Christianity won the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people in less than 3 centuries for the Roman emperor himself to accept it without using swords or bloodshed. That event of Jewish and non-Jewish conversion to follow Christ in large numbers without force or without even reading the New Testament is enough to prove the New Testament account of Christ to be true whether the authors are known or aren't known. Why? It's not because of the New Testament that the life of Jesus Christ spread. It is because of his life in the first place the New Testament spread.

Bravo! I have been saying this since 2015. The Birmingham material is NOT a Qur'an or even a fragment of the Qur'an. It is a mere 2 pages of material that EVENTUALLY made t into the Qur'an. The stories these pages contain were popular and widely known in the 7th century, so you could hardly call them "revelations" from some god. Moreover, the dates of Birmingham (568-645 AD) completely contradict the SIN. The earliest is before Muhammad was supposedly born, while the latest is before Uthman made his famous recension. If anything, the Birmingham folios are evidence AGAINST Islam, when viewed in their proper historical context.

To be fair. The dating is about the year the animal died. So in essence the date of the making of the parchment. A parchment may be stored for years before being used. It could be from the year Uthman compiled the Quran. Borrowing popular stories around that region to attract both Christians, Jew, pagans to join their new unitarian religion.

Well, if you've been saying that as well, then you've been spreading misinformation for a long time. The Birmingham folios are not pre-Islamic. The parts of Q19:91-98 aren't even "stories", and don't have any parallels with the non-canonical Gospels. It even criticizes the claim that God has taken a Son. More importantly, Alba Fedeli has shown that the 2 folios are part of a larger codex: 16 folios from the same codex can be in Paris. They follow today's text. Regardless of what you think about the Qur'an's sources, if you have a manuscript that attests the exact same wording of the Qur'an, then that manuscript obviously contains the Qur'an. I mean, sure the Qur'an often recounts the same stories as some pre-Islamic texts. But there are always differences, both in content and wording between the Qur'an and these texts. If the manuscript has the same text as the Qur'an we have today, then it's much more likely that it's simply a Quran manuscript, rather than a pre-Islamic source which the author of the Qur'an used. Keep in mind that we know it has 16 additional folios which contain additional surahs (some complete, I believe). The surah order is identical to the text that we use today. And so is the wording of the text. So we have two scenarios: 1. The Birmingham manuscript post-dates Uthman's standardization. This is suggested by palaeography and basically all experts agree with this dating. 2. The Birmingham manuscript pre-dates Uthman's standardization and was one of the sources used by the Prophet (or even Uthman) to compose the Qur'an. If so, then we'd have to assume that whoever was responsible for producing today's text chose to accurately copy earlier texts word for word. And somehow, these texts have survived until today! Needless to say, no real expert agrees with such an early dating.

Superb series on the Quranic manuscripts. Muslims have quieted down on those Birmingham Folios (pages) after all the hype, but there are always those guys who haven't gotten the word yet. Great review on the topic. It often takes several reviews of this type for the topic to be digested properly, for facts to establish themselves and for the dust to settle on all the claims we hear on perfect preservation, an Uthmanic manuscript, no Quranic variants, etc.

The video above contains several errors. First of all, where in Q19:91-98 is there any parallels to the infancy Gospels? Elsewhere in Surah Maryam, there are indeed parallels, but in this specific passage? Secondly, even if you think the author of the Qur'an borrowed from earlier pre-Islamic sources, the Qur'an's formulation and wording of these stories is unique. The fact that the Birmingham fragments have the exact same wording, the basmalah - and even the exact same Surah changeover from Q19 to 20 - etc. points to an obvious fact: this is a Quranic manuscript. Not some sort of pre-Quranic source that has magically survived until today. Thirdly, Alba Fedeli has shown in her thesis that the Birmingham folios belong to a larger codex. 16 additional folios of it can be found in Paris. So they contain other surahs as well. It's also important to note that scholars generally date the Birmingham manuscript to the late 7th or early 8th century. There are manuscripts earlier than it which contain even larger portions of the Qur'an like the Codex Parisino Petropolitanus (45% of the Qur'an), DAM 01-25.1, etc.

That is like claiming that because Holywood changed the story of Cinderella it now becomes the truth somehow. 3) Yes, it is assumed that the Birmingham folios are part of the Parisino Pretropolitanus collection. Problem is that this has not been confirmed by carbon dating of those folios, or at least I cannot find any reference to such a dating. But maybe you can help and tell us why there the Paris folios have not been carbin dated. So which surahs do they contain? And both the Birmingham folios and the Paris folios are considered to have been written after the Uthmanic revison of the quran. And that was some 20 years after Mohammed had died and that quran was written in only one dialect. Today we have some 40 different Arabic versions of the quran we know of, so wrote those?

Even if you think the Qur'an ultimately borrows stories from earlier sources, the Qurans formulation of those stories - i.e. its wording - is unique to the Quran and thus Islam. It's more than needing help from human endeavor, it's the work of God. It was exceptionally hard if not impossible to preach the Good News in Islamic countries. He's made it far easier to reach Muslim immigrants and they export it back into their old country through their family relations. Obviously it's not persecution free but the Islamic wall of Jericho has been taken down.

Dr Jay. Radiocarbon dating is accurate. The issue is that it is not precise for it is all too easily subject to contamination, and environmental variation. It also assumes constant decay parameters which are known to be variable. Please be more careful with your words. Otherwise you and Al Fardi are doing good work and have been the cause of many a good argument. My advice to all who use it, is use it prayerfully, respectfully, privately and lovingly. Thanks.

There is a major differences: Christians don't claim their holy book a direct download from God, Muslims do. So Christians don't hide the human influence. Muslims declare the Bible corrupted without any proof.

It's a plagiarized book from the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) or the Jewish book of Judaism. The Bible writers copied it word for word where some Hebrew words were distorted to suit to their portrayal of Prophet jESUs (pbuh) as the one being prophesied thereto. And this had been the many complaints by the Rabbis. So what test did it pass when there are complaints? What about the New Testament? What kind of test that will fit it? What substance can you get from the 4 make-believe gospels where they contained nothing but the HOLEY biographies of Prophet jESUs (pbuh)? What substance can you get from the book of Acts whose content is nothing but the adventure or diary of Paul? What substance can you get from the more than 10 letters of Paul whose contents are nothing but mere ideas, mere opinions, mere conjectures, mere concoctions of Paul? What substance can you get from the book of Revelations whose contents are nothing but dreams of fantasy of John? Is it because John flew to heaven where Prophet jESUs (pbuh) saw him and said to him: "I am the Alpha and Omega"? What is there to test for in the Bible when it does not contained divine revelations? @@garybowings1538 The Quran was and is recited at least 5 times per day and during the month of Ramadan, the entire Quran is recited from beginning to end. The proper recitation never ceased during the Prophet's life and afterwards. The Quran was never destroyed by anyone. Uthman, one of the closest companions of the Prophet, himself memorized the entire Quran, so there is no question that the Quran today is the same one that the Prophet recited in its entirety before his death.
