While I didn't lose my dad, my birthday was the day he had the stroke that paralyzed his whole right side, and took his speech. He was alternating between talking, and not being able to get his words out, while they were taking him into the E.R. He knew he was about to lose it entirely, so he made my mother call me so he could tell me "Happy Birthday" before it was too late. It took him a bit, but he finally got it out. Never spoke again.

My Step Dad died on my birthday and was informed on my way to meet some co-workers that had planned a surprise birthday party. The rest of the day was hard to stay positive. What wasn't said is the birth of a child is the happiest day in a father's life. Not many get to leave on a day that fills them with joy. For seventeen years he looked into your eyes on that day and the Joy was multiplied by the pride of watching you become a Man. So as the day approaches if you start to feel your loss of him, go to a mirror look into your eyes and reflect on the events of the year that would fill him with pride, feel the pride and the Joy for him, until the time comes when you look into the young eyes of your children and really understand the immeasurable Joy they bring.

I just ran across this and found it incredibly hard to watch, and heartwarming at the same time. I haven't celebrated birthday since 1996, the year I lost my wife, soul mate, best friend. We had the same birthday, 5 years apart. She passed just under one month before her 35th and my 40th birthdays. We had a son we lost at 2 months in 1989 and my dad passed the day before my 6th birthday. With that being said, I still can't possible know what this young man and his family have felt, I only that it hurts 💔 I thank God every day for my wonderful daughter, she looks like, and reminds me so much of my beautiful wife! I know my wife is proud of our daughter, who turned 37 this month. This young man's mom and dad obviously did a great job, he's quite well adjusted! May time help heal, and may God bless and comfort!

To Max R, God exists because of people like you! There are those in this life that have experienced the miracle of God's love! You cannot tell them that it was just luck, you cannot convince them that it was just fate! SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, God reached out to these people and showed them what was important in this life. This world is filled with sorrowful people, people who have had their world ripped from underneath them, yet still they find solace in the Lord. For those who have lost their way, He is still there, waiting with open arms and love. Those blessed souls who have gone before us, are there as well. Waiting for us. Hoping for us. Loving us. That is his message! It is not an end. It is a new beginning! Bless you, and all of your questions! Kelly

The best way to honor a parent is to be a person that he'd be proud of, I'm sure both of his sons will succeed at that.

That was great advice from Steve. Especially when he referenced God. Most celebrities don't speak publicly about faith like that. I hope that boy is doing well today. Also he's damn lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend, and friends and family members that care about him that much.
