I saw the Black Crowe/Page at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2000. It was actually a week of shows. Marcus Amphitheater 6/2000, No Doubt/Lit/Black Eyed Peas pre-Fergie 7/7/00, Peter Frampton 7/7/00 all Summerfest Milwaukee, Phish 7/8/00 Alpine Valley. A time in my life I will always cherish.

Great stuff Jojo. Always loved Jimmy's playing but I think collaborating it TBC forced him to tighten up his playing live ..the "sloppiness" at least live that we all loved seemed to go away and he became a better live performer than he ever had been.

I think he decided he had to dumb down his playing to parody level because Rich isn’t responsive to dynamics and subtle. I watched them rehearse for hours and on about half the Zep songs Jimmy just gave up and started jamming because he was so frustrated. My feeling is Rich was never in a band that ever really required him to listen. He was obviously showing off and the rule is QUIET between songs. Listen to these guys everyone noodling between every song. Great gear , great sound guys but you can’t polish a turd during a live set. Ironically Chris is now a more sympathetic guitar player and listens to the others in his band. Jimmy was generally too loud for the venues they played. So loud on stage that he seemed like he was in constant teacher mode. Like dudes, find the groove and wait your turn to add something. 😂 Perhaps Jimmys ears are damaged or his amp requires that volume to get a tone. I’ll bet there was no guitar in the PA mix. Just the stage amps cranked.

Has Rich got a B-bender or is Jimmy just doing that crazy overbending thing that hes so famous for?

Page had a B-bender installed on that Les Paul years ago. ✌️🤪🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶Mid-seventies red LP Standard. Not the famous burst Les Paul.

TheGreat Consummation -I believe the painting of the guitar is correct, but look at the headstock, 70’s? Just looked it up again, 1969, maybe 1970 pancake body gold top. ✌️🤪🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶

Rich is such an amateur musician. No swing, no dynamics no listening to everyone else. My high school band was better than this. Chris does a bit of justice to the tunes and Gorman is right on as usual. I’ve no doubt Page was embarrassed.
