Hmm I don't get it. The A (minor) blues scale is A C D Eb E G (A) Right ? At 2:22 he plays the I, IV and V chords. Of what ? The I is A C E, nothing to say. Could be A blues scale or Am scale The IV is D F# A which isn't from either the A blue scale nor the Am scale. It's the IV degree of the major A scale though. The V is E G# B which we also find in the major A scale instead of the minor and blues one. Also in the harmonic A minor. The IV and V could also be the root chords of the D and E scales (and major blues scales) D and E being the IV and V degrees of the A minor scale. So how did you pick those chords please ? I would very much enjoy understanding that to be able to transpose correctly.
@PianoteOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Great question! The I-IV-V are taken from the A major scale. But the great thing about this blues scale is that you can play it over those major chords and it still works.

Always love your stuff but I think (no I know) I'm lost. In which key are you playing the 1-4-5 chords (time ~2:25), Am (ACE), D (ADF#), and E (BEAb)? If you're playing the Am blues scale, wouldn't 1 be an Adim and 4 an Eb5th... ? I know that you like to mix major and minor chords, is that what you're doing here? Thanks so much for all you bring bro.

There are different ways to define scales.... comparing it to another scale (either a major, a minor, a Dorian, a pentatonic, etc...) , using the hand positions on the piano, or using a formula. All these ways are totally correct and valid.... each person/musician will prefer the one they find easiest. But it’s unfair to judge this video to not be the easiest way.... I actually love the formulas... no comparison necessary... so... if I don’t know any other scale.. I just learned the minor blues scale thanks to this video! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏽

Newbie here!! How come at the end you can put a B, F# and Ab in those 1-4-5 chords he was playing with his left hand while he riffs on the right with notes in the blues scale? He said play the notes within the scale...? Can someone explain? THANKS!!
@ForceOfWill100 Жыл бұрын
3 years late, but here's your answer! The key is A minor, so the 4 he's using is D major and the 5 is E major. D major is D, F#, A, and E major is E, G# (Ab), and B. He inverts the chords so the root is different, but the idea is that you play 1-4-5 in the left hand while the right-hand melody only uses notes from the blues scale. Hope this helps!

@PianoteOfficial5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the question! The C7, F7, and G7 are the chords we use as the basis for the 12 bar blues. Then we play the blues scale on top of that chord progression. The cool thing about the blues scale is that it can be played over a major or minor chord progression. It's so versatile! I hope that helps.

So when you do the 1 4 5 chords, they are not in the key of Aminor. This is the question a lot of people are having? You are teaching about the blues scale, but then use a chord that includes notes that are not on this scale. Why? This is confusing. I cannot find the answer to this question.
