Ryan from F9 made basically the same points you did about why they don't do press launches and only accept sponsorships from non motorcycle based companies. But I would counter that a first ride is just that, which is why viewers should make their conclusions from the video the reviewer will do about long term "ownership" of the bike. And watch multiple channels about a specific bike you are interested in.

I test rode one in Paris and contrary to all the rave reviews I felt underwhelmed. It looks beautiful, but I found the sound a bit muted, admittedly not taking it high in the rev range as it was brand new and mainly city riding. I did love the light feel but I didn't find it smooth or that exciting. I should add that I'd just stepped off my Livewire One, which is much quicker and smoother than ICEs. The clutch was also unbelievably stiff and bit far too far out (no doubt an easy adjustment). I've owned a GS1250 and found it better in every way other than looks.
@timrodierides10 ай бұрын
Fair enough! For me it's about the 50-80mph punch (erm, 80-130kmh I think). But understandable, it isn't that loud (no new bikes are), and the Livewire is punchy as hell.

I've seen a power/torque curve graph and they overlap exactly until 6000rpm, when the R12 just plateaus while the R12Ninet keeps going. I'll share that graph in my comparison video (coming soon!)

Not a personal criticism but, how can anyone take any of these launch reviews seriously. Even 'serious' journalists are influenced by the invite, the hotels the occasion, and of course the risk of not being invited again. Seeing the same press bikes handed around to KZbin influencers to make gushing reviews (all of them more interested in gaining subs & subscribers and getting their add revenue) I can also remember a 'serious' journalist saying great things about the Garner era Norton V4SS, a bike subsequently found to be riddled with faults and not safe to ride. The KZbin reviews that I like most are the ones made by the owners themselves. Give me a good motorcycle adventure/trek/holiday to watch any day. End of cynical moan by boring old minor KZbinr who never gets offered press bikes 😅

Finished a very extensive test ride. Pro: 1. Engine, tons of power and especially torque. Does NOT feel like 95 HP, more like 120-125. 2. Brakes incredibly strong, very confidence inspiring. 3. Build quality 4. Cruise control works beautifully, easy to engage / operate 5. For someone around 5,9ft 175 cm this is very comfortable for long distance. Also nice low seat. 6. 719 finish looks great. 7. Digital display is crystal clear and very bright so amazing visibility. 7. Tech laden CONS: 1. KEYLESS allows you to switch the bike on and off but not lock/unlock the steering, meaning you still need to take out the key regardless. Absolutely retarded. Unless I have not figured it out somehow.. 2. No fuel gauge. Mind boggling 3. Quick shifter feels BAD in the first 2 gears. Very jerky changes. 4. Tyres grippy but could have been a little better. 5. Rear shock is hard with very little travel, so only a little better than a triumph bobber or Indian scout bobber.

Top tip of the day :- one solution to the absence of a fuel gauge might be to weigh the fuel tank when it is full then later when it is empty, Assuming 1 Lt of petrol is about 1Kg you can estimate with reasonable accuracy the amount of fuel present in any tank. Hope this helps.

I think manufacturers are caught between a rock and hard place …as they would love to get a younger generation interested in motorcycling ..when I was a kid motorbikes were as cool af (still are in my eyes) but are they to a younger generation ? And then are they more likely to be swayed by influencing or journalism ? journalism can come over as quite boring when reciting facts and figures .. Ryan f9 bucks that because of his personality .
