"Are they just the modern day H.O.T" well since H.O.T stands for high five of teenagers and the members were supposed to graduate from the group once they become adults, and NCT Dream were originally the youthful unit of NCT that also had a graduation concept, both groups also became fixed and SM scrapped the graduation thing because they were so popular and fans wanted the original members, they do have similarities yes 😭

@@uc6758 Well it wasn’t specified that it should have been based on the member’s age, but it was meant to work like each year one member is replaced by a new member, so their name should have changed from Super Junior 05 to Super Junior 06, but they changed their mind and added KyuHyun and with him that concept/system ended. So it’s not rotational like NCT U, but you are right it wasn’t really graduation system 🤔🤔 But since the new members would be younger and younger (KyuHyun took RyeoWook’s maknae place), it would make sense to always replace the eldest one there, so it would have worked as graduation system after all. But besides that… I am still surprised by that information about H.O.T, because I didn’t hear of that before and I still cannot find anything about that

I remember seeing translations on twit about H.O.T also had song called Graduation in their album back then, along with some info abt the song, and that's how fans joked about the hidden song will also be called Graduation (at that time Graduation by dreamies was not yet revealed), which, turned out to be true haha

Chenle was the one who suggested this entire winter special mini album and Candy, they mention it a lot of times lol and we are all truly living for it. They did so well with the remake, not only the members but also KENZIE. It's a solid album, the b-sides are so good as well, especially Moon and Graduation.

Jaemin himself really love the members being this cute and they actually love having this cute concept and that what makes this more cute lovely not kinda cute cringe.. You must watch their performance mv cause in there you can actually see more details like the butt dance which jaemin really enjoy so much. Jaemin vocal part is really the highlight for me in this song. Totally agree that it added warmth to the song, the way he sang it kind of similar to the original song too make it give more nostalgic and 90’s vibe. He really handled it so well. Plus his butt dance when performing make this part perfectly cute. His stage presense is always on point for every concepts. This boy got many talents and need to be recognized more.

I've been listening to H.O.T for a loooong time and I've seen other covers. This is the first time I've seen a group make Candy their own. They really OWNED that song. I’ve been a kpop fan for nearly two decades and one of my first groups was H.O.T so this remake definitely made my heart happy. For one, I’ve been a Chenle and Jaemin biased person since the beginning and I could never really pinpoint why other than their voices being the way they were. Now I know why, they just give me the vibes that Kangta gave me back in the day. Chenle has the velvety powerful approach while Jaemin has the uniqueness that made Kangta so recognizable in his youth.

i have always trusted your reactions, how you really appreciate the music and of course you noticed jaemin’s vocals and i’m so happy! he for real deserves more appreciations for his versatile vocal tone and how he shows more of what he is capable for in this album. he is inarguably one of the top two who best suits the candy concept (along with chenle), although jaemin has always been known as a concept chameleon to begin with. but this one with candy and all the tracklist in the album, he’s on another level. i recommend you to watch their live stages too because jaemin does something with his dance during his vocal part that even the other members do it too off cam (and they’re all so cute!!!) and it becomes a talking point for the fans. it is so much fun!

H.O.T is officially the first Kpop group and boy group. Although I have recently found out one thing... YG's very first group Keep Six (킵식스) debuted two months earlier. H.O.T debuted in September 1996 and Keep Six in July 1996, so Keep Six were first, but on the other hand Keep Six didn't gain that much success and disbanded after their first comeback...

I wasn't around when the original song came out but as a huge fan of 1st and 2nd gen kpop who's now mostly an nctzen, i'm excited beyond words. To see NCT dream cover Candy is quite literally a dream come true, because with SM's remaster project and aespa's dreams come true i have been begging for more throwbacks like this one for a long time. I love Chenle so much for being the one to suggest this absolutely genius idea. He's always been my bias, but he made me love him even more for that. And I agree, he really stood out in the mv. They all perfectly embodied the song and the concept and paid a great homage to the og kpop sound, it suits their og youthful image really well and it's a concept i missed seeing w them. Also for a track that originally sounded pretty summer-y i love how they somehow turned it into a christmas tune !! And i am BEGGING SM to continue OCCASIONALLY (bc too much would kill the hype imo) making remakes of their 1st and 2nd gen groups as bonus content (*cough* tvxq next) because lowkey this type of late 90's/early y2k sound is getting more and more popular outside of the sm niche and we need to remind everyone who the ogs are lol (jk... or am i)
