Aidan and the Isaiah discuss the Book of Daniel, including the odd history of the Babylonian conquest of the Jewish lands, the myth of Jewish henotheism, and the prophetic interpretations of dreams by Daniel himself.

I think what makes this podcast great is the different perspectives that you guys bring to each topic. One with a more history/academia based perspective and one with a more religious/theological perspective. It's really cool to see how those perspectives play off each other as well as how they tend to align with each other almost perfectly. Really looking forward to more of this podcast in the future! Also, I think it would be really cool to see people who are experts in certain aspects of biblical history/theology brought on as guests in future episodes.

I've always considered myself as agnostic atheist even though I grew up in the south and my family is very religious, but I've always been interested in the stories in the bibles as I find them entertaining and always wanted to hear a bit more of the weirder stories within the bible. Glad I found this podcast through wendigoon's most recent livestreams of him playing zombies with youtubers

When I first read the Bible, I was a stout atheist, purely reading it for one reason, I thought it's probably one of the most influential books of all time, so I might as well read it at least once. I guess that's more than most Christians ever do. I did become a Christian later on but that was in my twenties. I read the Bible at around 19 years old after a first attempt at 15 had failed. Whether one believes in God or not, it's still a fascinating document of faith. And it shows that, people have mostly had the same very human problems over thousands of years 😊.

Yeah, even if you ignore all the religious or spiritual context and such, the bible really is a user manual on the human condition. Some say is a fictional historical document, which I think is accurate although very simplistic. I choose to read the bible because I’ve seen demons and now I need some defense against the dark arts, so to speak.

The Firey Furnace still exists, and is still burning. The Babylonians didn't need to build it, as it is a natural phenomenon. There is a place near Kirkuk Iraq presently referred to as "The Eyes of Allah" where the oil bubbles up to the surface, mixing with sulfur and some other minerals on the way, which ignites as soon as it hits oxygen. It burns 24/7 and has for thousands of years.

Cool! I was wondering why people would just die right next to a furnace, because you can get close to blast furnaces (though you got to wear protective gear for extended periods) so long as you were quick…like chucking some guys in, it probably would be uncomfortable but not kill you. So it would have to be super hot or have gases involved that were very poisonous or noxious.

My take on the question of evil is this: If you do not have any bad outcomes ever--if everything is perfect--then everyone would be the same. Arguably, God is the being for Whom everything is perfect. Therefore, if everything was always perfect, then God's only companions would be identical to Himself. Would they REALLY be companions, then? Therefore, God needs humans to be susceptible to evil, so that they can be different from Him. A couple of things really hit me hard thinking of it this way: For one, this implies that Satan (whether he knows it or not) still IS a servant to God by being one of the challenges that make humans different from God. For two... God can't be misled and can't be tempted, since He is perfect by definition, so how incredible is it for Him to see those humans, who CAN be misled and CAN be tempted, turn around and say, "Y'know what? I choose God." ...I honestly have a lot of other ideas in this vein that I started typing out, but they'd be WAY too much for a KZbin comment. Love the podcast, guys!

24:44 Is an interesting thought. I'm a JW and our interpretation is that the legs are of iron while the feet/toes are iron and clay, representing the Anglo-American, or British-American world power. Iron and clay don't mix, so the idea is that it would be partly strong but partly weak, with the clay representing social and economic problems that would weaken the power of the governments. Thus they're viewed as the final world power before God destroys them.

It’s history so much in in fairly familiar with the empires talked about in the Bible.

"The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed". Above was a favorite saying of Pastor Chuck Missler. A faithful brother I did not always agree with but I believe he's now with our Lord. Though I didn't always agree that doesn't mean I didn't learn much from him as can be said of many other of His faithful, Luther with his wavering on antisemitism would be a worse case example. Don't get me wrong, I know I am so far from perfect it's painful but, (Phl 3:13-14). I do my best as Paul tells us he did to put the past behind me, reaching forward to those things which are ahead, the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. I know I am still being sanctified everyday gradually through constant prayer and study being conformed to the image of our Lord, as are we all, it's one of His promises to us, (Rom 8:29, Rom 12:2, Phl 3:10 &more). This brought me to the realization that although there are many faithful teachers, we will find no perfect man of God this side of heaven, except for the perfect Son of Man, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yes, I include myself in that last statement. Not attributing the Book of Daniel to it's inspired author Daniel himself is incorrect. In doing so you're ignoring the Qumran Caves discovery of 1948 the scrolls and fragments in which was found an entire Isaiah scroll and many other Old Testament Books including Daniel that have been dated as far back as 700BC. You must also consider the language shift very early in Daniel where it goes into prophecy about the gentile nations, how Aramaic is then used, that even centuries later it would be the language of those peoples, (Dan 2:4 to 7:28 originally written in Aramaic). Then after those things, he returns to the Israelites and it shifts back to Hebrew. This is something Daniel was more than capable of doing considering his education and level of study. Not accepting the miracle that is accurate prophecy, (Isa 46:10), found all throughout Scripture denies it's inspiration and many other proofs, (Psa 18:30). Is it so hard to believe that the LORD God of all creation, who spoke and all that exists came into existence at the command of His Word could tell us of future events, His will that He will accomplish? Both of these young men need more study as a lot of what they say is just wrong and brings to mind, (2 Tim 3:7). Prayer and study while putting our trust in His Word, Him, (Jhn 1:1-3), would be helpful for them both. I know many are set in their eschatology but I pray that they're willing to look again. As they're missing out on the peace given us in the sure and true promises of our Lord, (Mat 24:35). Just one of which is, "For God has not destined us for wrath", (1 Th 5:9a). The rise of AI (intelligent idols/prophets, Rev 13:15), cashless societies, the surveillance state, power being centralized, severe atmospheric events, earth quakes, evil for good, good for evil (Isa 5:20), wickedness and evil all around us, (Psa 101:3, Mat 24:12, 2 Ti 4:3), wars and rumors of wars (Mat 24:6, Mar 13:7), are all signs of the times that were given to us thousands of years ago. It's the prophetic Word, (2 Pet 3:3-7, 2 Tim 3:1-5, 7 &more), we are watching unfold and it's all falling into place at an accelerated rate. No matter your view of eschatology that's getting harder and harder to deny. Revelation 6:15-17, 9:20-21, 11:7-10, 13:3-8 (15), 16:9-11. These verses are a warning for those who remain on earth, all who go into/thru the great tribulation, those who have refused the Spirit of Grace, (Holy Spirit), freely and lovingly given to us by our great God and Father thru/by His Son Jesus Christ. The above was to help those who want to know and understand what awaits all who go into/thru the great tribulation. What we see is no miraculous protection, quite the opposite in fact, except for those that are sealed by God or already in heaven. The rest who are found to have or that come to faith during the great tribulation will be overcome and/or will be martyred as is clearly stated in Scripture, (Rev 13:5-17 and others). (There is more to be said about OT saints. The Jewish/Hebrew people, the Nation of Israel, the remnant, during the great tribulation, why those years are known as the Time of Jacob's Trouble. I will just say for now that you must not confuse Israel, the remnant, or the OT saints with His Bride, church age saints). Rapture of His Church: P - Placement of His Church (Revelation 3:10-13, 4:1 (4), 5:6-14, 19:2-4 7-8 14) R - Removal of the Restrainer (indwelt Holy Spirit, 2 Ths 2:6) E - Exempt from God's Wrath (as promised in Scripture) T - Twenty Four Elders (white linen/crowns/thrones - priests/kings) R - Rapture confused with Second Coming (reward vs judgement, Dawn vs Day) I - Imminent return of Christ (believed/taught by Jesus and the Apostles) B - Blessed Hope (encouragement/edification) Scriptures to study: Gen 5:24, Isaiah 13:3-13, Isaiah 26:20-21, Joel 2:2-11, Zeph 2:3, Mal 3:16-18 (and many more in the OT), Matt 24:36-39, Matt 25:13, Mark 13:32-37, Luke 21:34-36, John 14:1-3, Rom 5:9, Rom 8:19, 1 Cor 1:7-8, 1 Cor 15:51-53, 1 Cor 16:22, Phil 3:20-21, Col 3:4, 1 Thes 1:10, 1 Thes 2:19, 1 Thes 4:13-18, 1 Thes 5:4-9, 1 Thes 5:9-11, 1 Thes 5:23, 2 Thes 2:1-3a, 1 Tim 6:14, 2 Tim 4:1, Titus 2:13, Heb 9:28, Heb 10:37, James 5:7-9, 1 Peter 1:7 (13), 1 John 2:28 - 3:2, Jude 21, Rev 3:10-13, Rev 4:1 (4), Rev 5:6-14, Rev 11:12, Rev 19:2-4 7-8 14, Rev 22:20. These are just some of the verses of Scripture that point to the Rapture, our being "caught up", throughout the Bible. Many are types and examples that prefigure, (typology), the event and others point straight to it, others depict His Church/saints location/placement or are promises/reasons it will happen. I often hear those that confuse the Trumpet of God, with the Trumpets in the Book of Revelation. They apparently have no understanding of how the LORD used the Trumpet of God in the Old Testament to signal His People to gather to Him for Instruction, Worship, Celebration or to follow Him. the Didache dated 100-120 A.D., which contains the exhortation: "Watch for your life's sake. Let not your lamps be quenched, nor your loins unloosed; but be ye ready, for ye know not the hour in which our Lord cometh". For those with post or mid-trib views how do you reconcile verses such as Mathew 24:36-39? Mathew 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angles of heaven, but my Father only". We will have a seven year timer because we know from Scripture that the tribulation will last seven years. Going from bad to worse, (as labor pains upon a woman), for those who refuse to believe in and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. So with a mid or post trib eschatology how do you explain that all will know the day at the middle or end of those seven years? Mathew 24:37-39 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be". How can anyone honestly believe at the middle or end of the Tribulation, during all the following: the Seals, the Horsemen, the Trumpet and Bowl judgements, from the first Seal to the last Bowl it is all His Wrath. The great and terrible Holy Wrath, the judgement of God and the Lamb, being poured out on the whole earth, all that death and destruction on a global scale, such as has never nor ever will be again, and yet people will still be living life as normal, as they always have? You can not add in some supernatural protection that is not clearly given us in Scripture, such as the saints in Heaven watching it all unfold from above with Him. As described for us in Revelation, (4:1 (4), 5:6-14, and 19:2-4 7-8 14), or all His many promises that are to protect us from not thru His wrath. That supernatural protection you refuse to accept is the Rapture, our being "caught/snatched up", before His Wrath to come. Always pay attention to detail when studying Scripture. In the above, (Mat 24:37-39), the Lord repeats Himself, "so also will the coming of the Son of Man be" is said twice by Him. Repetition in Scripture means that the Lord has firmly established He will do what He's revealed. Think back to Joseph's interaction with Pharoah and his two dreams, (Gen 41:32), there are many such examples in Scripture. We see it in His many promises to us where He, Scriptures repeatedly say "from" not "through" His wrath 1 Thes 1:10 "and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come". Notice Scripture promises yet again "from", not "through" His Wrath? Heb 10:28 says "apart from sin", which has to mean apart from judgement. In, (1 Co 3:12-15), verses describing our evaluation as He has already given us our promised salvation, (Rom 8:30). He does not judge us against or for our salvation but for the works He's given all to do, (Mat 28:19-20, Eph 2:10 +more) (2 Tit 2:13) NASB95 "looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus," (2 Tit 2:13) KJV "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" The "and" in this verse after "blessed hope" is very important. I used two different translations, the KJV even adds a comma to help us see that separation. Why did the Holy Spirit, via Paul, use the word "and" and not "at" here, if these are one and the same events? Maranatha !!! Even so come Lord Jesus, come, Amen. (Num 6:24-26).

So, I think in a different video, they said Isaiah uses King James and Aiden uses New King James. Between the 2 I personally prefer and recommend New King James, because it uses less archaic language than King James. To me, King James feels like reading Shakespeare. There are several other translations I personally enjoy, but for the purposes of following along with them, I’d say NKJV is the way to go. Hope this helps!

Literally none of these lol^^^^^ King James is just an old English version that doesn't translate well, and it's named after a king, so you could guess how self-centered that is. Secondly, it's the only translation that has a cult behind it. People will VEHEMENTLY defend it, depsite not one translation having total presence over the entirety of Biblical translation. I personally use NASB 1995 (New American Standard Version). It's meant to be a literal translation of the original texts, it doesn't use a bunch of old English, and it's straightforward while still having linguistic elegance. I got mine for a little under $60. It was a Giant print, red letter, thumb-indexed Bible. I personally wouldn't recommend just getting a Bible by itself, there needs to be a deeper way to study it, and that's why I got the Strongest NASB Exhaustive Concordance for maybe $38. Very thick book with roots, meanings, and definitions for every word used in the NASB (except for articles like a, the, etc.) and has a complete Hebrew and Greek dictionary alongside it. I also got a Hebrew-Greek-English Interlinear Bible that is a super literal translation of the Bible with The Old Testament in Hebrew and Aramaic, and the New Testament in Greek, with English written to the side. All this helps with the deepest physical study I can do, other than revelation and understanding from the Holy Spirit.

The answer to that question is probably a lot deeper than you ever thought it would be. Honestly, if you’re just starting out fresh and new, NIV man.. the more you dig into it and understand it though, the deeper you need to go. I’m from the Bible Belt where most church’s make the claim that it’s almost blasphemous if you own anything other than the KJV… but that’s ridiculous bc we don’t speak old English and the words translate differently to words that we use today. Start out easy and work your way up. Be careful though.. some translations add in or revise certain verses. So it’s best to always check with other translations to make sure they’re all saying similar translations.

@@a-a-rondavis9438 I’ve never heard of that translation but after reading your comment, I’m definitely going to check it out for myself! Sounds like you know what you’re talking about lol

Read the books in the Masonic library. You'll find out who they worship only that way. They are in fact the builders that rejected the cornerstone. FYI: the rock of the church is the revelation that Jesus is the son of God.

Ok love these guys and this podcast but it will forever baffle me that some people can look at a direct passage that could not be clearer (SIX days) and go “hm but does that make sense to me? Must not be accurate.” As if our knowledge and understanding has any pull on what God is capable of. Anyways.
